This song became a love affair between Freddie and the fans. In South America in 1981, over 125,000 fans sang the song flawlessly even though English was not their first language. The band were blown away. The tradition continued over the years. Freddie always tells the fans..."I still love you." In Montreal, you hear Freddie say to Brian.."They don't know it." They had just come back from the Rio gigs and Freddie wasn't used to singing all of it! That's Brian's explanation as he recalls it (during the Montreal commentary provided by Brian and Roger...DVD..Rock in Montreal). It is nice however, when Freddie sings more on his own, as in this Montreal version...we get to hear more of his phenomenal voice. To be fair, you can actually hear the audience in Mtl singing quite well....LOL...Thanks for your continuing Queen reactions.....so many fantastic gems to enjoy. I can't wait!!

Great reaction. I love this one because you can hear Freddie actually sing it all. But there i something quite beautiful about the way the audience engaged with Freddie in either the Rio one in 1981 or wembley 1986. Please react to one of those also. Thanks. For early Queen, try In the Lap of the Gods and In the Lap of the Gods Revisited - almost same titles but different songs.

WELCOME TO THE OBSESSIVE CLUB, Honey💕
DO YOU KNOW: In current-day Queen's (+ Adam Lambert) concerts, Brian May always performs "Love Of My Life" as a tribute to Freddie... and thru the magic of video technology, a LARGER than Life Freddie appears next to Brian, to sing the last part... It is practically IMPOSSIBLE to have dry eyes! (Brian often weeps a bit himself and has a handkerchief handy to wipe his face.)
There are LOTS of audience-filmed versions from different shows on YT. (I prefer the earlier ones from 2015, because the video set-up next to Brian feels more intimate.)

@@awordfrompresidentpat1484 The Wembley 1986 concert is an awesome concert all the way through, probably my favorite outside of Live Aid 1985, but for Love of My Life specifically, Rio is pretty darn impressive due to the size of the crowd and the fact they don't speak English yet they can sing the song perfectly.

As mentioned by others, you must watch Freddie sing this song at other concerts - each one was special, perfect and different. Are you ready for more awesomeness? Are you? Do you feel courageous?
Then go and watch this song performed live in Rio 1985, and you'll see about 300,000 people (maybe more, just look at the crowd size), non-English speakers (Brazilian Portuguese speakers) all singing along Freddie, the whole song in English, in perfect English. The amount of love the crowd shows and gives to the band, and to Freddie, is out of this universe!!!
And we can understand why, just look at any of the live performances, from the beginning (the 1970s) to the 80s, they knew how to make the crowd feel welcome, feel like they, we were all part of Queen too. That's the kind of emotion I get every time I see a video of Queen or of Freddie doing his solo work.
The love is immense, we feel loved, and we love them back.

You need to check out other live versions, because of the audience! the audience in this concert was told to sit down and to shut up, because: Well, how to explain!? The whole concert-show is actually a concert-movie which was played in the cinemas/movie-theatres back then. That's why the quality is so good. It was recorded with cinema-cameras and in dolby-surround-sound. Fun fact: It's avaible in HD with 5.1 surround sound and THX as well. They made it because they were at the peak of their carrier. They played almost 300 concerts a year, but half of the world couldn't attent to the sold out show - so they dropped this movie which was played around the world! It was even in the top 10 movie-list back in 1982.

It's a beautiful song and a fan fav at concerts
maybe it doesn't get requested as much is because its not the whole band playing
Freddie plays the piano on the album but it works well like this
Most places they sing with him or its back and forth
Its possible they weren't familiar with it but I think it was more of cross wires
Freddie said they don't know it after singing you don't know it,it's not as loud as a lot of concerts but you can hear them singing
but they do sing louder afterwards
in the commentary Roger and brian explain that the audience was generally quieter in some places but they had got used to the crowd joining in
also the security was tighter than usual, and the director was telling the crowd to be quieter...
I also noticed that hhe just sat there and sang
normally he pauses for them to join in or actually indicates to them
he didn't do this,so dispite Brian saying to join in they may have been confused if they should?
    nevertheless a beautiful performance
Freddie composed this on piano and guitar,Brian played harp on the album
Brian then transcribed?the song to suit the 12 string guitar

Love this song but I like the version from Wembley in 1986 better. This is a beautiful song from Mary Austin's perspective when her and Freddie broke their engagement.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

The one in wembley is not even top 50, his voice was shot in that concert, he's range was decent but not great like this concert, compare his tone here and his range to that concert, this is 100 times better.

I highly recommend White Queen (live Odeon-Hammersmith 1975) czcams.com/video/f8usNj4x9NA/video.html It is breathtakingly fabulous. Also, You Take My Breath Away (live Hyde Park 1976) czcams.com/video/UBBne8R66xo/video.html. The most beautiful love song ever.

Nope...only if you’re a Brit would that one be the one. For many, the Rio one is THE ONE as the entire masses of ppl sing the entire song TO Freddie ANNNND Bri. The shear emotions that Freddie had as he’d stood there ‘n allow their voices wash him that way WAS magical. Especially when the audiance weren’t English speaking fans!

Nah, he's much better here vocally, he gets every high note here, and he's emotion and his expression is better here aswell.

Naw...you’re both mad! The Argentina or Rock in Rio versions are way better ‘cos of the audiance participation! I personally luv Freddie’s reaction at the Rio one...how he is washed with the voices of all the ppl there! THAT’s amazing!
