This is what Elon plans, first agrees to buy Twitter for $54 per share. Then toys with the company in media with different issues. Share prices drop to $38 per share. Now asks for a discount and will buy the same Twitter on a cheaper deal. Overall an awesome plan. Untill I think I cracked his strategy. Now Musk u can hire me. Loll....
He was already fined for manipulate the market in that way, he really are pushing the boundaries again.

Twitter filed information about bots to SEC, claiming it's at less than 5%.
It's within Elon's right to do a due diligence, he asked Twitter CEO to prove that 5% bot rate, and the CEO couldn't provide any proof.
Elon now could investigates how much bot really are.
SEC couldn't do anything about that, Due Diligence is a proper business practice.

Do you know if this deal goes through or not, Twitter is now open to investigation for malpractices. The democratic party alleged that Mr. Trump won because of Russian bots influencing public opinion and Elon wants a social media company not a liability.
He could spend $10 billion to make a social media platform that is 5 times better than twitter.
This is the end for Twitter, they always wanted to hide things they have done.I think that’s why they were so opposed to Elon musk taking over twitter partially or completely.
Twitter isn't worth 44 billion, so its like increasing the company's valuation if he buys it. Musk is just playing around, I dont think he will actually buy Twitter for that large sum. He probably wants it at a cheaper. He is slowly realizing if it's even worth it. Wouldn't be surprised if he backs out of the deal, even if they do offer a lower rate. (I don't think they would either)
He is entitled to the information as a buyer. The CEO doesn't own the company, the shareholders do and they voted to sell. Plus he is already a part owner of the company.
With Twitter shares falling like snow on Christmas, this deal is literal the only way they get money. You see twitter has been in loss for quite while now.

"does he actually have an intention of buying Twitter or is this a charade"
Yes his networth is $230B+ but its not like he has that lying around. Raising it on his own means digging 25% into his Tesla stock - it hit me that this would dampen investor confindence in Tesla? Why would he compromise the key component of his wealth?
Perhaps he has a partner / partner(s) willing to split the bill - though he would still be digging into his Tesla stock - so how much of Twitter is he personally intending to own?
I still doubt whether he ever had an intention of buying Twitter - I guess time will tell.
