I was able to recognize the dangers of Facebook in 2004 so I am glad that other people are finally waking up to these dangers and I'm really glad they're doing the best they can to mitigate them by refusing to participate

What dangers can come from an app? If you like it that download the app, but if you don’t like it then don’t download the app. It’s all about preference. It’s just like with everything in life. If you don’t agree with something then do what you want, but don’t go telling people not to do this or that. Let people choose for themselves.

Facebook was created to have a record of those who joined. The machine has stored all that we've posted in it's master file. Unbenounced to us that was their plan. They claimed it to be a platform for us to connect freely. They slowly decided what content was acceptable. Especially when it came to the 2020 election. That's when the Facebook police took over big time. ALL big tech banned together to block everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if this "system" they've created elected Biden/Harris. Because, I've really not met many humans that did. He was always in his bunker or was out talking to barely anyone before the election. In 2013 my best friend sitting near me was busy in fb by scrolling down pages , clicking on someone profile, chatting with their online friends,in finding something interesting from those who was far far miles away from us at that time, rather than giving much attention and proper conversation with me ,like he was lost somewhere and tried to find virtually happiness.
At that moment i realised fb is connecting people virtually but in reality it creating distance among people.then after a few months i stopped using Facebook.for 9 years no fb

I have witnessed many office gatherings or family reunions that served actually exactly the opposite of the original purpose: many of these in-person interaction ruined the relationships. Even a huge percentage of marriages these days start with online acquaintance. In the US, divorce rate actually declined after popularization of social media! So drawing such a wall between online vs offline is extreme.

I left Facebook when they removed my post requesting material assistance for a seven month pregnant victim of child marriage, aged 11, who had been rescued. I shared the appeal and commented that child marriage was illegal in my countryand should be firmly dealt with by the authorities. They removed both the original appeal and my post as 'hate speech'. Previously there was a graphic photographic post being shared of a very young child being groomed for prostitution/sexual slavery. I reported it but was told that it was not in violation of their standards. Did that child consent to being photographed in such abject misery and consent to that picture being posted on fb? Evil.

The longer you are away from social media the better you feel. I don't have any social media anymore (about a year ago) and I feel better all the time. I was suffering anxiety attacks before, and now getting anxiety is rare for me at all. I wish facebook would disappear. I feel like it has made some of my friends crazy(er)

Back in 2014 my daughter wanted me to have a fb page , at first I resisted but eventually gave in . Had her unsubscribe me when I realized nothing interesting in that platform. Just people airing every personal detail of their lives, for what, to find relevance to their otherwise boring lives? They don’t seem to realize or care that their every post is being tracked and scrutinized. My daughter STILL goes on fb despite my admonitions to stay out of it . Decided to get off facebook 7 years ago. Even though many of my friends and family still active there, I'm not missing out on anything. Sooner people realize it, the better.
the problem is user dont know how to delete an accaunt. >50% profiles are inactive
Leaving Facebook is one of the most important decisions I have made in the last 5 years. I never got on Instagram and I never will. I stopped using WhatsApp a year ago, ditched it for Signal. I want my privacy respected and I love the fact that I now own my time, no longer controlled by Zuck's addictive social.
If you have a phone, computer, tv, gaming system well you get where im going. You do not have your privacy respected just saying.

Facebook is one of those platforms that is as depressing as one can get. People mostly pretend to be happy and flaunt what they shouldn't have and the viewers mostly assume that it is their way of living making them believe they are way behind than others in life, while reality is the life of that person might be more miserable than others. It's all about pretention and attention. Same with Instagram. These platforms only good for small businesses, and that too only if viewers like us exists. I started using in 2011 and ended in 2013 which was the best decision of my life.

You are right. Orkut was my first social media platform. I got the impression that everyone else was living the life while I was rotting away wasting my miserable life. I got so depressed that I legit started contemplating suicide. To this day I have not recovered from my clinical depression.

They're all constantly looking at their phones, even when hanging out, and we never talk about things of substance anymore. All they do is share or consume trivial memes/videos all day long and the saddest thing is that, for a while now, i've been actively looking for people in my age group (late 20s) who aren't like that with little to no success. I won't even get into how women automatically believe you're some weirdo/nut job when you drop the bomb of not being on social media.

I was on FB for a couple months. It wasted my time. People were on FB arguing, showing pictures of their breakfast, etc. When I asked a couple of high school friends to call me on the phone instead of being on FB and I wondered why when we lived in the same state, we could not get together, they unfriended me and said I was being "negative". I was so hurt I was off FB for good. Why can't people just call on the phone and just talk? Jeez.
Facebook is just a tool..with a tool you can do negative things or positive things.if your negative side is dominant you will always find it useless.but if are one who Is easily susceptible to negative influence don't create an account.

My friend put me on Facebook back last fall. I was on it for 2 days I really didn't want to be on it. Friends still try to contact me.and they send me pictures and other things. Even the woman who put me on. I'm sure one of them are upset I'm not on FB anymore. I don't understand why people can't just take the time to call. I'm not in high school. I'm a lot older. I do text a lot to 1 friend but that even makes me wonder. Thing's sure have changed and some not for the better. People are losing the ability to communicate personally with one another. That's not good
The value of an old fashioned phone call or face to face meet up for tea or coffee will NEVER and can never be replaced by Facebook or any other social media apps.... yeah it has a lot of positives to using it in moderation and the right context but to be hooked on it and constantly online, it actually does a lot of negatives on your social, mental and physical health.

Even after uploading several forms and documents which they demanded and costed lawyer fees; they still biasly blocked me. I left Facebook. Someone here said it was like having an abusive partner who punished you if you said something he didn’t approve of and not let you talk to your family and friends for as long as he decided. That person said it exactly right. Facebook installed its police “factcheckers” which were pretty much like N A Z Is on your back. I dumped the darn thing and I have tons of friends who left for the same exact reason. Sick of being policed.

I had a load of warnings about stuff I had posted YEARS AGO for one violation or another, and I had no idea what was wrong with them. My profile isn't even public either so you'd have to be friends with me to see whatever it was..... And they don't directly tell you so it's anyone's guess... But I had coworkers and grad school friends one there so it wouldn't have been anything crazy.
