- Elon Musk's surprise trip to Beijing is "a watershed moment" for Tesla, says Dan Ives, managing director and senior equity analyst at Wedbush Securities. He says that the visit is an important opportunity for Musk to unlock Full Self-Driving (FSD) in China, which "is the golden goose" for the carmaker. Ives speaks on "Bloomberg: The China Show."

There's already an oversupply of Macdonalds, Coca-Cola, Kentucky Chickens, iphones.
I dun hear politicians complaining.
Explain
It's called 'overcapacity'. It's a new invented term. Lol
@@Jkl62200 Obviously the Biden administration is packed with linguistic professionals.
There's an overcapacity of useless USD toilet paper, but the politicians don't complain either.
What does this mean for Tesla stocks? Is it advisable for somebody who wants to start investing in stocks for not so long term gains to start with it now?
I'd recommend you get yourself a fiduciary F.A if you're serious. They're not half as expensive as you think and know the market better. Experimenting with CZcams based suggestions may not be the best for you. I know this from experience and as somebody who has made real money off stocks. Goodluck.
hi, please what are the steps for getting one?? like a really good one
You should start by looking out for those from known firms and good track records. You should also make sure the person is licensed. Personally, I use Kelly Matwick. She's good and you could also look her up.
Dont start with Tesla if you dont want to play the long game.

Dan Ives needs to visit China and see for himself. He needs to update and improve his lack of what’s happening in China. It’s moving lightning speed in China

Take out orders (foods and drinks etc) via drone deliveries are also beginning to be offered in cities like Shenzhen. So, I wonder what is so special about Tesla's driverless technology which can interest and impress the Chinese?
They dont have a neutral network like FSD
FSD don't rely on "fenced" GPS like Cruise & Waymo, that is the Big difference.
These are some bold claims. Which companies are offering driverless cars, buses etc. in China?

If full autonomy is Level 5 (with Waymo at L4 and Tesla at L2), how is "FSD" autonomus?
Stop calling it Full Self Driving. It's not autonomous. Before anyone says otherwise, this is what Tesla's own website said. It tells customers to always monitor and be ready to intervene when necessary, because the system does not work in all conditions.
"China needs Tesla" ... seriously!?!?!?
China needs Tesla to activate its domestic EV market from the begining.

Tesla makes the best EVs
China makes good EVs but FSD is good for china and batteries cheap
But Tesla has the greatest power train engineers
For example which Chinese car has steer by wire or 48v ???
Musk is Smart
No, he's stupid.
Tesla skipped the Beijing auto show. This is wise because it would be obvious that tesla offerings are not competitive. Many of the cars at the show are priced at a steep discount to tesla which is a reference EV. Those cars are often sold at a loss.
Then why China wants Tesla so bad? Go ahead without it. China needs musk more Musk needs China. Musk is just greedy and wants to make more money for his future projects so he is transferring technologies to sucky Chinese companies
Good to see Elon realized he was CEO of Tesla and not just his new toy, Twitter.
Tesla needs to have more models in order to compete with China brands. It's so fatigue seeing the same car (look) day in and day out.
Exactly. The product lineup is stale. Carmakers for years have always had a model year and body style changes to keep things fresh and encourage people to upgrade to basically the same thing they had. Even Apple knows. When you see a model 3 how is one supposed to be impressed when you don’t know whether it’s a 2014 model or a 2024 lol

How about a new announcement for future Tesla expansion in China?
But who is going to get into an FSD and let it whisk them around highways and traffic?

The fun part comes is when Tesla or if Tesla licences FSD to another manufacturer... that would be a cash cow for Tesla
I guess might never happen
People don't realize Tesla is a software company. Who says this technology has to be only on an electric vehicle. The more vehicles that have Tesla fsd the better. That will be awesome. It will be car talking to car And make full self driving a reality. Eventually, all vehicles will be electric.

I want to clarify my opinion one more time as a broken record. Tesla FSD and other companies' FSD is a technology for Generation BETA and beyond. Those generations are home body work force and lazy drivers who want everything delivered to them. The baby boomers to the generation Alpha are stuck and spoiled to the gas cars. The current regulators are old school and will delay this technology as much as possible. In summary, the current generation is the genie pick for the FSD. Musk China's visit is to expand DOJO's knowledge of the FSD in a crowded pedestrian environment. The last thing to know is that regulators are controlled by politicians.

Premier Li Qiang personally rolled out the red carpet for Tesla and Musk when he was Shanghai chief. He gave Tesla lots of facilities including cheap land, electricity, water etc and various licenses in record time. He even helped Tesla hire hordes of workers for its gigafactory. Musk could not have picked a better horse to work with there.
I think is the most funniest word. Musk needs china more than China needs musk, that's the current trend of apple & Tesla
Why Beijing welcomes Tesla is because China is still and will be an open market for foreign companies, not like America uses national security and overcapacity, also I don't think Tesla has apparent advantage over other main China's domestic automakers, the sale of Tesla in China has fallen a lot since last month.
additionally, I think China also wants to enhance the connections with America in certain industries, to slow or avoid the decoupling.

If you look at many Chinese EVs, they are copies of the Model 3. Look at the Xiaomi S7 that just launched, the dash is a carbon copy of the Tesla UI. Who are now ordering the giga-casting machines Tesla uses? The Chinese manufacturers. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. If you are going to copy then do it from the best. EU manufacturers should be doing the same instead of wasting money bribing politicians. However whilst Tesla continues to innovate then they will continue to have something to offer China. That's what keeps them safe there.
Phillip.
Tesla categorizes itself as a premium car brand, but they may not realize that they are not considered on par with established premium brands like BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. These European brands also have their own EV lineups in China. While Tesla may have an advantage with their FSD technology, they do not enjoy the same premium reputation as the others.

Dan Ives, I think, holds financial stake in Tesla stock and some of his conclusions verge on wishful thinking. Tesla needs to tread very carefully in China because this is an inveterate mercantilist state that doesn't play by the rules. The only way to take on and supplant China is to soar way, way above them. We leave that for Pan.
Dan Ives is a well known long term investor in Tesla Stock. Elon has always trod carefully in China but also note that Tesla is the ONLY foreign car manufacturer there. Every other foreign car manufacturer is forced into a JV with a local Chinese company. China is smarter than the USA, welcoming Tesla, rather than Biden that wants to destroy them.

I think he got it all wrong, China does not need Tesla or FSD, they have their own system, which may be better tailored for Chinese road conditions. Most Chinese preferred BYD over Tesla, it used to be Tesla, but not anymore, there is very little chance that Musk can be successful this time, China is not like other markets, and all foreign brands failed at one point or another.
It does need tesla if China wants to be in usa
