Microsoft didn't leave Open AI, they just added Mistral to their AI harem.
😂😂😂😂
Why have 1, when you can have 2?
hot
you speak of that word, you remind me of that one "show", and forthwith you shall stop there.
damn, mistral's body double got turned into a generative AI
Microsoft: "I'm Playing Both Sides So I Always Come Out On Top"
More like just buy out the competition. Mistral is ACTUALLY open. Unlike anything from openai sense chatgpt3.5, which is A LOT of ai sense then.
That was my reaction as well. That, or M$ buying out the competition which would hardly be a first.
Kinda anti-semitic to point that out. Don't you think?
@@Quantum_Nebula ... I'm going to assume you used the wrong word there.
@@Quantum_Nebula Literally nothing in this thread is anti-semitic (so far). If you really think that talking about business strategy is that way, I suggest that you really check yourself. Maybe talk with some blue-collar guys.
it's remarkable. every single thing they showcased at the expo was already done 10 years ago.
I thought I was going crazy
Ever since OpenAI hit the tech industry, it's changed the course by taking a hard turn right into a brick wall as everyone suddenly started losing their shit over how much faster and more efficient computers got at stealing content.
This isn't how the brain works or learns and this isn't where we should have stopped in our journey towards real AI. Assuming that journey is even worth the risk anymore, given this is our response to parrots.
they have done some tunimg to be fair lol
"replacing your dog" reminded me that there is a map in halo infinite where an ad is displayed that says something along the lines of "man's best friend just got an upgrade!" and shows a dog with robot body, or maybe it was just robot legs and tail, but couldn't really tell.
That's funny!
sounds like a cyberpunk ad
sounds like a cyberpunk ad
The fact that AI chatbots became mainstream before Microsoft's engineers figured out how to issue Windows updates without forcing a system restart is crazy.
At this point, I'm convinced Microsoft forces the restart, not because the update needs it, but because most users never restart/turn the PC off and just let it sleep/idle constantly
@@zlyfirehey that's me. Just on 50 days from last restart on my laptop
@@zlyfirewhat's wrong with that? restarting is for the weak
@@UncleJemimawhat if your kernel upgrades?
@@n0tjak I said what I said
I can think of one use case for the transparent laptop screen. When working in venues as event technician, sometimes the laptop screen does get in the way to see everything of the dance floor. A transparent screen could help there
I wouldn't expect the laptop to be particularly bright though, which means you might not see sh*t with dance floor lighting
MistralAI went OpenAI way of "closing" it's open source commitment. And now I know why.
Absolutely disgusting...
There is no honour among thieves
@Mrlse2 Sorry could you or someone explain this? I do not understand. Are you saying OpenAI and MistalAI were both open sourced and now they have shut that down after joining microsoft or something else?
@@Arkaido your guess is correct. OpenAI went ClosedAI after they attracted enough attention and funding. You can't download gpt 3 or 4. And now Mistral is going the same route, deleting all open-source commitment statements from their websites. It was good while it lasted.
@@MrIse2 Ah thank you for confirming
To be fair, Mistral's perspective on AI is different from what OpenAI offers.
Yeah because OpenAI has delusional people that actually believe their machine learning algorithms are living and thinking
That's why I'm uncomfortable with this. Mistral is uncensored and fun in the smaller sizes. Once the **** at Microsoft get hold of it?
So even more of a monopoly, nice...
"Mistral’s declaration made by CEO Arthur Mench that the company would release an open-source GPT-4 level model in 2024." Jan 18, 2024
they also were marketed as European unions AI. strange that now they sold themselves to usa Microsoft.
maybe they got tired of the upcoming eu regulations on ai development, like GDPR and AI Act.
"European Commission launches artificial intelligence office to enforce new rules" Feb 27, 2024
Not anymore. They quietly took all references to releasing Open Source models off their website yesterday, and also disallowed using the output from their models to train other AIs...
Oh man the "prision and a$$" joke made my day. Thanks guys!
Vulgar
I'm glad they're making a wearable phone!
I find it terribly hard work to smash mine and that'll make it so much easier!
I'm grasping at straws but maybe they can layer multiple transparent displays together to make a 3D display? They could also be used as snap-on HUDs for vehicles or small electronics?
The hot patches joke really landed in fertile soil. Good job James.
Nothing is more friendly to competing businesses than knowing all of your competitors secrets through a 'partnership'
The Barbie flip phone seems promising, but I have to ask: is it Kenough?
fertility tracking? where do you put the ring?
Put it with the probe
I can't believe that stupid show "Miraculous Ladybug" predicted smart rings, wtf
I was excited for MWC news for a new generation of CAT phones. Only to find out that Bullit LTD, who were building these phones - went bankrupt.
nooooo not the cat phones :( they were really cool and I got my mother one of those before
Hot patches joke is pretty good.
3:52 I can put this stuff in my space ship
4:11 the cut from the guy looking lovingly at the robot dog to the dog doing a backflip had me rolling
TechLinked is literally the best channel I watch. So dense with info while also being entertaining. Super well done everyone
6:57 Wow, what a great example of the enshitification process!
Microsoft's documentation for Copilot in Azure never mentioned that it will be linked to Chat GPT only. Instead, they talk about an AI platform and even mention that you may be able to bring your own and tie it in. Offering more options out of the gate seems like a good idea. They don't want people to think of Copilot simply as a rebranded Chat GPT with some Microsoft stuff sprinkled on it.
As soon as I saw the prison laptop story I knew it would end with him running Doom on it.
I know a use case for the transparent laptop. Its too make sure your bosses know you're not playing stardew valley
The transparent screen can be used for demostration. A replacment for projectors or large screens
Thumbs up for the excellent deployment of 'whom' and the 0 latency confirmation that it was used right! Best team of tech newsreaders ever!
I didn't feel like the background music fit in the beginning
same
I came
Thank you for your opinion. It is being reviewed at the highest echelons of society 😊
True, didn't even notice before.
I love how Microsoft is coming back in the last round. "I didn't hear no bell"
I never thought I would hear the word Barbie and Flip phone in the same sentence.
you mean since the 90s
Yeah that would've been pretty common in the 2000's
That was pretty iconic about 20 years ago.
Microsoft is at their second pace of EEE, which is Extend
“Strike while the iron’s hot” is an edgy bloody pun after accusing Gemini of being racist🤣
They used digital foundry’s footage for the 7900GRE and didn’t even give them a mention, shameful!
I can't believe you didn't mention long running series starring Adrian Monk this time
Thanks for showing James again!
What stupid thing did Microshaft do now?
Increase their stock value
Try to please the investors and flop, over and over.
@@xanderplayz3446yeah sure buddy, it's the largest corporation in the world right now based on market cap
@@xanderplayz3446They're flopping? Must be at their all time low.
@@xanderplayz3446 you are talking about the company that stayed in the top three spot in the market last two decades, so are you sure what you saying?
The see-through laptop screen is perfect for users of Arch Linux.
You made me giggle IRL.
that was good
Laughs in Linux not worrying about surveillance AI.
7:40 Norm macdonald still alive and writing for shortcircuit?
Man I love the James / Riley combo. So good.
The use case for a see through laptop is to advance the technology for actually good applications.
Maybe the translucent screen could be useful for schools to prevent students cheating in exams. If they think everything they do is visible they might not cheat as much? It's a lame idea. But just throwing it out there.
Your pronuntiation of the name 'Barcelona' sounds so natural. Congrats 🎉.
Yeah, someone who actually pronounced it correctly🥳
Nice to see james back again. Where u been dude!!
1:25 "Post singularity world is going to be freaky" James: "Hmph"
"Quick bits" is so well marketed in comparison to the name of the channel that I often find these videos by searching for "Quick bits" even though I always skip over them.
I hope nobody stops ripping on Google for the first racist AI made without the internets help.
Google being anglophobic isn't exactly new.
4:01 Micro Led not mini I believe
7:42 I laughed so hard at this one 😂🤣🤓
Very good spelling of Barcelona mate!
Love the writing of these
I just want a wearable ring that does nothing else but left and right arrow keys on my computer so I can control a presentation with it.
3:41 hope they will put the Butterfly ringtone as default for the Barbie Phone !!!!
The prison laptop joke is probably one of the funniest moments on tbis channel
The Samsung Ring - where exactly do you have to stick it to get an accurate fertility reading?
So... The 28000 mAh "battery pack" phone with mid-end hardware still can't outlast a 2010's Nokia with a 910 mAh battery?...
Waw...
4:13 I miss my Sony Aibo 😢
i dunno, I think techlinked videos also remind me of cnet or e3 like event announcments
and those videos are the best!
A transparent screen would be cooler if you could toggle it like misting windows up.
We're clearly not wearing our smartwatches enough so here come the rings for 24/7 tracking
"How could you do this?" Microsoft: "Easily"
Isn't drumming rabbit Duracell and not Energizer?
The only use I can think of for the transparent Lenovo laptop is schools wanting to make sure students aren’t playing games when they’re meant to be working
I was expecting the much better James to be Laser James
When I saw the prison Laptop I knew it'd be Doom which they put on it
3:23 Wait, did you not hear about the more interesting HMD Fusion concept? It supposedly will have an open interface similar to microcontroller HATs called "smart outfits" (cringe) where you can design and program your own bolt on accessories.
Seeing the guy bond with a robot dog hurt more than seeing someone marry his waifu pillow
The "Smart Depository" must be just around the corner. . .
i have a younger child and the see trough screen could be nice to be able to monitor what they are doing. i don't think we need it but there might be some one.
4:11 what the actual..
Cameras on Air Pods?
Fun fact: "chat" is vulgar in french too!
btw Mistral is also on talk with RTX
Ring wearables with fertility trackers? You didn't mention the vibration feature.
“Yeah Strike while the iron is hot”💀4:55
"An Apple ring is currently just an Idea, as Apple is apparently exploring multiple wearable devices"
Does this mean the iButtplug for health monitoring is confirmed?
5:58
Nice! The 7900 GRE supports ROCm 6.0.2.
I'm still not buying it at $550, but this is likely the card I'll be upgrading to in a year or so.
Maybe Sonic is a true story, tasked with cleaning the world of the remnants of human wearable gold rings
>promote competition by buying/partnering with them all
Cant think of a use case for a transparent display??!?! AR could definitely use the transparent screen tech since the other options using cameras and LCD displays. Being able to see through you apple vision pro would be a huge step up over this generation version.
Can't have your eggs all in one basket.
its so weird how much the background music effects the video
MAKE THE XIAOMI DOG _dispense_ BEER
Linux has had live patching for years, and now MS copy the Linux kernel, who would have thought Opensource is leading the way, PMSL
Love the show, as always. Could you tone down the music though? Sounds like someone's playing Deus Ex in the background.
One day, you need to make an AI focused TechLinked in which all takes are done without anyone blinking. See if anyone notices.
Just want to note that solid technology menopause joke. nicely done, writers.
Hot-patching in Windows. Now even never-rebooting can stop them from breaking the OS with new "features". That's gonna be fun to watch.
I'm so sick of hearing the term AI. It's giving me flashbacks to when everything was e-_____
What IF your Robot Dog bites someone?
From a technical standpoint, Mystral models are pretty great, efficiency-wise.
How long will it be before landlords start charging robo-pet rent?
Can they invent an AI for better techlinked jokes?
_The gadgets are here; I need tech news, not a ride_
I think the transparent laptops would be good in educational and business settings for enterprise devices so that accountability can be held in staying on task (4:05)
"Worker Drone 52384-AF, I see you have deviated from your assigned task. Your pay will be reduced this month and your insubordination will be noted in your permanent record. Don't let your work family down again."
You seem very happy with that dystopian outlook
Perhaps not work but for education and monitoring children
Sure !
Ain't no way a ring will have the same battery as a smartwatch 😂
It doesn't have a better physical battery, just a longer battery life. If the power drawn to battery size ratio is lower it'll have better battery life than whatever it's compared to
Techlinked has become the main channel in my eyes XD
Comedy gold 10/10
James are you okay?
ye he sounds weirdly aggressive, this time around
Yeah, very dry responses to the behind the camera quips. Only the single smallest little unenthusiastic 'heh' possible.
Never saw James Strieb before (mostly new to this channel), but dayum this man is foyne.
