    The postman pat joke was really quite funny! Yh the Post Office scandal is like the worst miscarriage of justice ever. like over 900 people convicted of serious crimes, being shunned by their own communities, struggle to get new jobs, money issues etc.. all because of buggy software that the Post Office did know about, but never disclosed in court and actively testified that the software was flawless thus the only reason for missing money was the Postmasters themselves.
    Due to odd quirks in UK law the prosecutions were all 'private' with the Post Office themsleves being the prosecutors (ie NOT the state as with all other crimes).
    No one in the Post Office has yet to face criminal charges for their actions, and the Post Office is being stipped of its legal obscureity to bring private prosecutions.
    The issue is the court system cannot now cope with all the appeals cases and the UK government is potentially having to pass a law to automatically erase the convictions, which has its own constitutional issues attached.
    The issue has been an ongoing fight for 20yrs after the inital realisation by the wider public of the injustice, but it seems a timely ITV drama aired over christmas when most people would be watching reignited everything into a flurry of activity.
    The chair of the Post Office at the time has given back her CBE honour (she did so before it was going to be forcibly stripped from her, so bit of PR managing there by her). But the UK public still wants criminal prosecutions as it seems the very top people (who kinda of have close ties to the political system due to the nature of the Post Office) are going to basically get away scott free.

      @@johnlucas6683 sadly its nothing special since google had those features already with their "real time" translation years ago (was more web browser based tho), not for calls & rather local 2 people speaking, i think there was even a travel ad for it, but all it does taking the language input from the microphone & translating it - now just built in into the call app. written text image translations same thing btw my 3+ year old budget phone can translate them - google lens, its obv a bit slower in detection (around 40-55% slower = 3-3,5 seconds vs 2 seconds) but works. thats technically AI, detecting text & sentences and translating it.
      its a lot of marketing rainbow glow up that if u rly think about it, its not that crazy. but thats AI every tiny step feels huge cuz it does makes things more simple, easy & obvious to use. like the AI text translations, u typing a sentence in your mother tongue on whatsapp for example & with 1 or 2 clicks u can translate the whole thing into a different language. before it was possible too, type in the text u want in google translate or whatever, copy it, go back to the app to paste it & then u can sent it. AI is that "big newcomer" now and still very tiny and basic but it does or can handle the processing on a specific npu/cpu way more efficient & faster compared to couple years ago.

    • @BocchiSensei
      @BocchiSensei Před 4 měsíci +152

      Yep, but if it increases competition, i am all for it.
      Edit: I am referring to how it can improve the mid-range phone market and have a potentially powerful and cheap high end phone because for obvious reasons including not having to pay tsmc extra. Alot of people misunderstand the capabilities of the exynos chip, of course samsung pushing out two versions of the same phone is bad and i myself hate it but thats a different topic from potentially using exynos chips the right way by making cheaper phones. Its quite immature to dump exynos just because its overshadowed in the high-end market (even though it was only slightly behind, i was more mad about it not having the same efficiency) and quite cringe to comment on something so negatively when seeing one benchmark score comparison without seeing the full picture. Honestly as a normal consumer, i support samsung even trying and getting smacked than to not having them to try at all, of course it would be nice if samsung just stick on one chip per phone model and being honest with it but a business is a business which is unfortunate.
      Anyway since people are obviously too lazy to search up early benchmark comparisons and instead they're sticking with past hatred ill give the basic rundown after researching alitte by using several sources mostly articles. Exynos 2400 has 2 more physical cores than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but the snapdragon chip is clocked higher. The exynos and the snapdragon chip is close in single core performance but multicore is where theres a noticable difference, having a difference of 100-300 scores, for some perspective both chips achieved 6500+ on geekbench 6. Disappointingly the exynos is still behind efficiency but its close, and better than last time this happened. Graphic performance is basically the same. Obviously as a consumer i dont want a inferior phone but if samsung can put this chip on a cheaper model maybe in the samsung s24 FE, then its better than picking out a last gen chip. With all of that out of the way, this reminds me of the video linus made about intel vs amd, the 13900K is proven to be faster than the 7950X yet they didnt trash on the 7950X for having 2 less FPS, its honestly disappointing to see LTT viewers being like this when were supposed to be more critical than this.

  • @Bezilon
    @Bezilon Před 4 měsíci +23

    There is not a single "AI" that has been trained ethically / with the consent of all of its copyrighted training material. This is practically impossible, unless a stock media company uses it's own repository of stuff to train their own AI or give permission to use their entire library. Even then, those libraries are far too small to achieve the level of detail the popular models output. Not to mention the people it took to painstakingly label and correct the tags on each individual piece of training data. Those people were not paid fairly, earning tops 2-3 USD-s an hour for their work. This "AI" certificate is a sham.

      Adobe Firefly is explicitly that. "Trained on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public domain content". They're making it their whole thing in all kinds of documentation and advertising. Getty Images has something similar in the works, using Nvidia Picasso as the backend.

    • @Bezilon
      @Bezilon Před 4 měsíci

      @@ShogoKawada123 That’s actually great, the only question is who/what did they use to categorise their images for them. If that’s also free of underpaid and overworked workers and unethically trained AI, they definitely deserve the label. Though I’m afraid this is the depth that nobody cares to usually dive down to , including the orgs handing out ethical labels.

    • @Bezilon
      @Bezilon Před 4 měsíci

      @@hjf3022 Considering that the companies who train the models have had to use human labour to tag and categorise the training data points for the models to digest properly, unlikely. The people who are doing tagging have been reportedly paid a fraction of minimum wage for their work and/or have been exploited. Captcha was supposedly also exploiting our image recognition responses. If any model is free of these, then I was wrong.
      I’m not against the tech, I just refuse to use them until there is an actual guarantee some of them are slave labour and theft free.

    I was looking forward to the samsung event today, because I didn't know it was just about the flagship phones. It's so completely backwards to me that most companies put a headphone jack and microSD slot in budget phones but exclude them in the nice, super expensive phones.
    You want a bit more storage, give us a few hundred more bucks, you want an audio jack, then eff off. Basic things are excluded from flagship phones but more normal in budget offerings; that just feels so backwards to me.
    I was hoping for A55 or A25 news, basically mid tier news(A35...etc). My phone has been messed up for a few months now and I'm getting very close to just spending 4 times I normally do on a Zenfon 10(I want a smaller phone with an audio jack and a decent amount of storage, so would have to spend extra on the bigger capacity model). It does not cost them 100 dollars for 128gb or whatever more storage, it's a joke companies charge so much for more storage.
    I should get my tax return soon, maybe that'll go toward a zenfone.

    • @mal0gen
      @mal0gen Před 4 měsíci +1

      The reason for that is, I believe, people who buy budget phones probably don't wanna spend money on Bluetooth audio and instead go for wired solutions, while higher end buyers go for the Galaxy Buds or get a dongle/DAC (like me) to pair with their stuff.
      I hate wireless audio, honestly. The delay is enormous, and when I used to have basically only my phone to play games on, the iPhone X's lack of headphone jack was one of the many reasons that made me despise Apple and switch for good.
      I ended up buying a used S22 for 300$, practically new (no box/charger) and got a USB-C to 3.5mm DAC to use with my KZ KSN PRO X. Great headphones, I suggest checking them out.

    • @jwest88
      @jwest88 Před 4 měsíci

      @@mal0gen still baffling to me that just because apple did something everyone had to follow.
      I replaced my charging port and in the process messed up my finger print scanner and antenna. So now my phone only sometimes has service and doesn't have a fingerprint reader.
      My main concern with a USB c to 3.5mm adapter is prematurely wearing out the charging port and pocketabiltiy. Seems like an adapter would just make a phone even harder to put in a pocket comfortablly.
      I have hifiman Amandas and an amp and dac at home but mainly want a headphone jack for work (I like sports clip headphones that can just dangle by my ears without going into them. Less soreness at the end of the day.
      That being said the comfy model I love was discontinued by skull candy and I can't buy them anymore and all mine wore out. So until I find a wired headphone I like for work again I've been using cheap Bluetooth earbuds.

    • @jwest88
      @jwest88 Před 4 měsíci

      @@mal0genI don't know if it's as simple as a cost issue. You can get 20 dollar Bluetooth earbuds online. That can't be that much more than cheap wired ones. Just baffling to me whatever the logic was. Between a phone and a gpu upgrade (hopefully this year depending on what's released) I don't think more headphones(di their expensive) is in the cards. I'll look them up though.
      Oh. Their iems. I never have liked the style of earbud you jam into your ear canal. Uncomfortable and they just fall out of my ears. I know iems are all the rage but don't know I can go that route. On the go it's earbud style (just sit there, don't go in ear canal) and at home around ear.
      That sounds lie a good deal for the s22. Maybe I could go the the used route. Something to think about.

      samsung lost the plot, and it's what people can buy (it' what's offered). I have no idea if people would like other kinds of phones because those aren't offered as new. Then there are people like me: i'll take this fairly old phone because it has what I like. I for one might like a proper chunky phone that also has a proper phone and proper keyboard to call with.
