Wow this Splatoon 2 DLC was a lot different than I expected
Dj CUTMAN Bwahahahaha!! 👍🏼
I can’t WAIT for this game’s release tomorrow!!!! It’s going to keep me busy summer long.
How does it stack up to Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology? Because that's one of the best JRPGs I've played in years.
Sam Vimes interesting question. RH is a great time travel rpg that is a little more traditional in terms of storytelling. I'd say OT is more ambitious with its storytelling and 8 protagonists. They're both executed incredibly well though and are both great examples of modern classics as far as I'm concerned. It really just depends on what kind of jrpg you're in the mood for because while they are both great examples of modern classics, they still have many elements that make them pretty different experiences overall. Long story short, I'd say it stacks up really well.
4:15 I think I'm going to need to unsee that.
Can someone explain the collection of he other characters to me? I loved the demo but only got my second character shortly into it.
Do you have to rush through the game just so you don't have to wait 30 hours to finally get the 8th character ( if you are not skipping their origin stories/prologue ).
How do you get all 8 without a bunch of forced story grinding?
I am buying it tomorrow regardless but want to know what I'm in for.
It depends on how you want to play. I played through the demo twice to see every character's intro stories. On my third (and final) playthrough, I made it my goal to get as many characters as I could. I got 7 of them, just barely finishing the 7th boss before my time ran out. I would say that if you wanted to rush to get every character, it would take about 5-10 hours, depending on how thorough you want to be. And that's assuming that you watch each character's intro cutscenes, which I had skipped in my final playthrough.
SonOfCloud thanks for the response. I really appreciate the time you took. Looks like I might just take my time and see how it goes.
I’m so confused why they have done it this way. There’s nothing better than playing for 80 hours and finally coming to an amazing ending where everything comes together. It makes the time you’ve invested feel worth it. So what happens when you’ve completed 7/8 origins. You just finish the 8th and that’s it? You won’t even feel like you’ve completed the game. By the time you’ve got to the 8th you’d of forgotten the 1st or those in between. I’m still going to pick it up but was really looking forward to diving into an “epic” adventure and being hooked.
Aaron Rose the individual stories are pretty good but not really connected. But I believe there is a final dungeon after you complete all chapters which tie the stories together.
I can confirm that is exactly how I felt when I finished SaGa Frontier. Took me years to beat it because of several moves and events in my life.
Then when that final moment came and I finished up the last character's story, the credits just rolled and that was kind of it. The lack of a climax just left me at a loss.
Enough of my life story, but suffice to say I will not play Octopath.
Can someone please tell me what the music is near the end? Is it from the video game? I need to find it please. It's slow and so beautiful. Starts at 4:00. Thank you!
Reyaad Rafeek it's called "the frostlands". Is the main theme in Ophilia region
Thank you so much man!!!! :D
Already started playing my copy. But you know? Since the ground work is already done.... How about a Final Fantasy 6 remaster using the Octopath Traveler engine?
That is the best thing ive ever seen anyone say.
yay, a reviewer who can read the 72 point font and call it "Break" and not stun, stagger, etc.
3:53 me outrageously over leveled Nonsense hahaha...>_>(Looks at bravely default and second)
I play JRPGs for their music and stories... The fact I keep hearing that the characters are almost non-existent to one another is off putting. I've read that the thief mentions that he prefers working 'alone' in his story, but ends up joining the other heroes anyway. I hope it's not that kind of narrative, as I do plan on getting it eventually.
All these salty people complaining before even completing one chapter. Give the damn game a chance.
I'm perfectly ok with the separate 8 stories that don't intertwine. I can focus on what I want to do if I don't feel like doing everything. Since your party isn't required to have any certain character besides your starting one, trying to make party dialogue or a plot that includes multiple characters doesn't seem viable.
Although it's not simple, I still expected some flavor text and basic interaction within each character story with the party, a bit like Mass Effect. I'm still enjoying the game, but the story element is the weak point.
DarkSonic 180 I'm not the one who made the RPG. Since you're not "required" to have any/all of the 8 characters in this game, there are 70 possible combinations of a 4 person party using the 8 characters. So the developer would have had to make 70 different party conversations for each of the 8 storylines to account for any party makeup you might choose. Most RPG's are pretty linear in their structure and have required party members, with possibly a few optional ones. So it's easy to write a storyline/party chat that includes them. That's not this game. So if you don't like 8 different individual stories instead of a singular plot involving all characters, maybe this game is too boring for you.
DarkSonic180 And now you're just being a troll. ;-)
That really didn't sound like a 9/10 review...like at all.
Well, It is a nintendo-centric account. This is also a switch exclusive games. They will never give low scores to high profile exclusives.
No intertwining story:(
As they know YET, because NOBODY has complete the game.
Ebefren Revo Some (may be fake who knows?) leaks suggest all stories combine later in the game to converge into 1.
I will answer that myself in a month or two :) Just started the game yesterday with Cyrus.
Ebefren Revo OMG that's amazing, i started today as Cyrus too and already loving it more and more. ❤
We need chinese language pls!
Is anyone else a bit disappointed
I think this was basically stuff we knew from pre-release. I am a little concerned with the 8 distinct stories that never intertwine. I was kind of expecting it to pull a Dragon Age: Origins, and eventually hit on the real major conflict as a full party. But I always feel like JRPG stories can be hit or miss anyway, so its not the thing that would stop me from buying it. I won’t be picking it up anytime real soon, but only because of life situation right now. I hope it sells well, and maybe that you’d give it a shot, because who knows, you may end up loving the game despite some of the problems you may see with it! The Switch is a perfect place for beautiful classic JRPG goodness.
Benjamin Allen I would like to see more JRPGs make it to the switch but it sort of feels like that all depends on how well this one in particular does. Making me feel kind of obliged to buy it
Gunnar Schumann yea I am I think I wasted my money smh
not the slightest, he gave it a 9 i mean come on! Also most of the reviews are extremely more positive. Check out Igns review.
Nope. 8 travellers 8 stories.
I don't get how people keep praising this game's presentation. Blurry pixel-art mixed with cheap 3d effects... No thanks.
Take a look at Persona 5 for a game with amazing presentation--that game is a work of art.
Are you a real jrpg fan? Or become a fan after playing persona 5?
I don't give a shit about JRPG's. I haven't played Persona 5 but I've seen enough of it to know what it looks like--and it looks great. And I don't have a problem with pixel-art graphics at all--but while this game does seem to have some good pixel art, it's made blurry looking and slapped into lazy 3d environments. This game might be amazing, but the visual style just doesn't deserve praise. Oh--and look at those UGLY menus--compare those to the menus in Persona 5!
You don't give a shit about jrpg but you have watched this video and you are comparing two jrpg. SMH Go play EA games if you just want graphics.
TLRSTN.COM Persona 5 graphics are comic drawings and nothing amazing from the graphics form persons 5,so stop with this cheap shit, cuz persona 5 graphics are literally cheap comic drawings brought to life,Good gameplay, generic story,
TLRSTN.COM I got trird of the school day in that game ever finished nor do I want to.
