IDK how you have time to 100% all these games and still upload quality content daily, love the videos.
THIS!
he had a video on it. If i remember correctly the quick and easy way is he has a lot of saves like a TON for every possible decision point etc
@@Silentpoppy That, and the shadow clones.
I bet he is one those people that can eat soup and whistle at the same time.
its his job.
I'm so happy to see this channel growing :) Been around since the Divinity vids I think, what a pleasure it's been to watch this almost from the beginning.
Great job on the review, I'd say you hit the nail on the head. I'm on my third run of new game+ now and I'm really enjoying just how many options I have to be able to just swap people in and out and really use the niche characters in their best moments. You review again, objective and impartial as always, really makes note that this game really wants to be played over and over. Great work and I look forwards to seeing whats next on the list.
Props to this game for making NG+ different than simply upping enemy stats!
But at the expense of severely limiting the first run through of the game.. at least from what I hear from reviews. I'm not a fan of NG+ and just like to play 1 playthrough and move on so the fact that the options open up only for NG+ hinders me buying the game
@@gamlash95 that’s fair
@@gamlash95 I can see that, I'm usually that way, but ended up trying NG+ and am loving it. It also helps the game doesn't take the FE route and have permadeath as a thing in battles. Compared to the FE franchise I like the more laid back nature of TS. Makes it worth running NG+ imo
@@MrWasian is there any new storyline for NG+?
the first battle in NG+ in hard is a nightmare hehe
Hi Mortym! I've had this game wishlisted for a while. Been waiting patiently for you to review it. Thanks for all the awesome content.
Love your channel! You are one of the few youtubers that manages to keep reviews a medium length while sticking to the important information and not filling it with unnecessary bloat or stupid sketches. Keep up the good work!
I love 2D-HD artstyle - Overall I already brought the game on Switch and my god it's addicting af, if someone likes good story.
Great video as always, thanks dude. Can't wait for you to hit 100k subs!
Solid review. I'm in my first playthrough of the game and while restricting the story has me hooked. Looking forward to unlocking new game+ to see how it opens up. $60 is steep, but the story, art style, and combat really sold me on it.
Congrats on the growth and success, you absolutely deserve a million subscribers.
Hell yeah man!!! Congrats on the channel growth!!
This was a great review. It's what I've been looking for since the game dropped on Switch. Thank you!
Niiice. Very looking forward for this review.
Just finishing my play through on new game+ (second play through) going golden route. I gotta say, I’ve been loving this game and agree with your points. If you allow yourself the time with the story and multiple play throughs, this game really opens up and becomes an awesome experience. Good review!
I was super excited about this game initially on release to scratch that FFT itch, but couldn't bring myself to finish it even once unfortunately. This review hits the nail on the head as to why.
As a fellow FFT fan, I appreciate your comment. I just got a switch and have been wanting to try this game out but Tactics Ogre Reborn just came out and now I can’t decide between these two games.
awesome:) thanks! I'll pick this up on sale
Amazing review as always ! ❤
Fire Emblem: Three Houses has been the game to finally get me interested in SRPGs, I’m wrapping up my 4th play through now and am still loving it. Hearing that Triangle Strategy has immense replay value has me even more excited to play it.
I’ve tried to get into fire emblem twice. It’s too slow. I want to play a game, not walk around and talk to people at a school. It’s so boring!
The pacing is a lot better in triangle strategy. They have moments where you run around and explore, but it doesn’t feel as tedious.
@@zero11010you can skip exploration in FE3H...not a good idea but you can skip stuff in byleths room.
or hey, if you want a fire emblem game that goes right into combat with a few walls of text, try the ones on GBA
@@professorpenne9962 yeah. I dropped the game. Didn’t enjoy it. Plenty of other games to play. 👍
Fire Emblem is great but Three Houses isn’t typical Fire Emblem. Try the 3DS, Game Cube and Wii games before making up your mind on the series!
Solid review! It's nice to see you covering more SRPGs. :)
Heck yes, agreed!
Excellent review again. Thank you.
Easy subscribe. I still haven't made up my mind on whether or not I'll buy this, but your review was insightful, helpful, and in-depth.
That was quick. I started yesterday and just finished chapter 2 lol
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the controls for PC were bad, even changing the mouse sensitivity didn't do much. Switched to my controller before the first battle.
I really agree with you. Actually i ve done +170h in this game unlocked 28 characters 2 normal ends from Benedict and Frederica and got the true end in my 3rd game now I started NG+3 in hard to complexify the game because all of my chars are in Level 50. I need to find Cordelia and Travis. Get to find last diaries from Norzelia. And unlock Roland ending but I m really not enjoying to get this end because i hate Hyzante's church.
About the combat in hard just one mistake and you re finished. I love this game so thinking in that i ll reach 200h on this amazing game!
Just finished benedict route... this game is so addictive I spent 3days without sleeping to finish it... the story is what makes game so intriguing.. play it you wont regret it.
I just recently discovered you and I dig how you complete 100 percent of these games. I don’t think it’s necessary but it really does set you apart from other reviewers and it also lends more authority to your opinions. You know what you’re talking about lol. My favorite video of yours is the “Top CRPGs” one.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your hard work and your eloquent writing. Big Ups! I wish you the absolute best.
Is it better to rush through the first playthrough and get into NG+ then (like Tales of Graces f could be done, though I love playing so I am still on my first playthrough, on Chaos), or just play at the "rate the game makers would like?"
Good review my man. I've also played the game and onto the last battles and I like challenges so have kept my characters low level for that reason but then again it got so hard I kept dying lol. I didn't want to grind nor wanted to lose because I was only a few levels low. Incredibly walled and unforgiving that I actually stopped playing. However now am thinking of finishing it and going the new game plus route as it sounds a lot more fun! Ta
Just coming back after your recommendation. Replayed and on my half way point of ng+ and loving it! I'm trying to pass each stage without turtling too much meanwhile not letting any or many character deaths, on hard. It creates the challenge and lets me strategise and replay each unique stage 😊. Really is a great game and now realising it has branching paths and endings again i will at least do 4 play throughs! Loving it
How different are the different playthroughs?
As in how much of each paythrough/path are the same scenes and battles and how much you get actually new/unique scenes and battles?
If I remember correctly, there are 4 different paths with 5 missions each in the middle of the game and 4 endgame paths with 4 missions. Each of those missions is unique, though they may share a map on occasion.
I bought this one, but have yet to complete it. The story isn't really grabbing me so far. I love TRPGs though, so I'll get to it, but I'm already eagerly looking forward into November. I've already pre-ordered "Tactics Ogre Reborn" (cannot wait for that! 😆) and the first of the remastered "Front Mission" games!
Don’t preorder things 🤦
@@joearnold6881 Wishlisting and eagerly waiting for is all well and good.
Preordering is and has always been quite foolish, but these days more than ever... >__>
Approaching 100K subs!
Great consumer advice. I'll pick this one up for sure, thanks.
great video thanks again :)
100k subs is getting closer!
Thank you for an honest review
Definitely appreciate the point that this game benefits from multiple playthroughs
Fortunately this game is on sale on Steam for 50% off so I don’t feel under pressure to decide if refunding within a couple hours or keeping it
I enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics Advance so I think this captures the magic of Square
Hey Mort great review. Thanks! Have you tried the Banner Saga games?
Not yet
i really loved this game when i first played it but for some reason i never finished it on the switch, really excited to play it on my pc when i get a chance
I can't tell you how happy I am that your channel exists.
Great review, i will buy it on sale!
I finished Triangle Strategy on Switch and loved it. Gonna play it again through on Steam
Amazing review!
My 1st play was on Hard Mode and eventually stopped midway as the battles have become impossible. I am very disappointed with it.
Will retry on Normal Mode after I finish my current games lineup, or after Tactics Ogre Reborn. Thank you for making me give it a second chance.
been searching for a good srpg n looks like this triangle seems interesting, thanks so much for a review after completing the story 👍🏻
Spreading the gaming Wisdom . thanks
I bought this game at launch for the Switch and I have only beaten once, so far, but I didn't feel "walled in" or "restricted." It is my game of the year at this point.
I might get this when it goes on sale for the Deck.
Great review as always. Wow didn't know it is on steam. Played on Switch only once, but I didn't feel too restricted to be honest. My only slight gripe was due to my own expectations. I heard that political intrigue and betrayal etc were a big part, but it didn't feel as huge as a youtuber made it out to be.
This game was a ton of fun, and I appreciate it didn't take too long to finish a playthrough; lile with Tyranny, it offers interesting replayability instead.
It's nice to see you play JRPGs. I haven't touched this game yet (waiting for discount) but this review is making me want to immediately buy it. I'm pretty sure I will buy this right after Diofield Chronicle.
As someone who has played both, Diofield is pretty skippable. It’s fun, and I want to support the game, but it’s so damn easy due to the game’s mechanics. Triangle Strategy was, for me, an incredible experience.
Ew don’t buy diofield over this….
Triangle Strategy is 33% off _right now_ on Switch, btw, for like five more days.
I gotta agree with what @Christian Chapman said, Diofield was a bit of a letdown. It looks nice and plays okay, but it's way too repetitive and easy even on hard mode and the story's not very good imo
Very good and organiser review as usual. Can you also please review symphony of war? It's also a new rpg and looks like diofield chronicles and fire emblem. It has overwhelming positive reviews
Same for Telepath Tactics Liberated!
I'm taking notes rn, need something good to fill that hunger.
I'm really enjoying Symphony of War. The story isn't amazing but I enjoy the characters and the gameplay is top notch. Fighting a select few for my GOTY right now :)
@@triavang7946 haha lots of good tactical RPGs coming out recently
@@anduril38 oh thanks. Good to know. It's pretty cheap here so I'll get it. I really like the sprite work and art too.
Thanks man. I was going to sell this game but I’m going to keep it now.
Was your gameplay from one of the later/bigger battles? It seems very overwhelming with how many skills you can choose from and the overall look of the combat system.
I know it's turn based so you can take your time but it looks pretty complicated to get into whereas games I've played before such as FFT and the newer FE games(from Awakening-now) those seem much more simplified.
I found it too simple tbh
Nothing really to say, but I enjoyed this video. Thanks for making and sharing it.
I think Triangle Strategy is a masterpiece, quite frankly. I've played a lot of SRPG's and this one pulled elements of all of them in a really effective way for the ultimate SRPG experience. To me it has a Game of Thrones gripping and surprising storyline without annoying anime elements that plague some other SRPGS. It has a visual style that harkens back to Shining Force 3 and FFT while also looking modern and beautiful. It has a soundtrack that is unbelievably good, one of the best I've heard (and should be mentioned more). And the gameplay is comprised of a solid gameplay loop with good developer choices for an SRPG to have. Personally, I can't wait for a sequel, hope it happens.
Watched your review on tactics ogre last night, this today. Did you review bravely default 2?

Getting this! I want to create a CRPG with this graphical style and design but with western style stats, and dialogue system. A fusion of Eastern aesthetics and western crpg design philosophy.
Not exactly that, but Gjallarhorn seems like a potentially neat fusion of JRPG and CRPG philosophies.
just wondering what difficulty you played on and if you played on the hardest.
looking for a challenge and you mention it is a easy game.
Very good game. I am not a strategic RPG fan, I started playing games of this genre just recently (this, Tactic Ogre Reborn and Front Mission 1st) and I was a bit skeptic whether I would have liked it. The story takes a while to become interesting and the first run seems very tightly controller, but after getting accustomed to the game it becomes really enjoyable.
I try clicking on spaces with my mouse and it ends up selecting the space below or above almost always.
So we have to go through the same narratives for subsequents playthroughs?
Enjoyed this game. Quite similar to Tactics Ogre aside from the nonexistent class swap. I really like it, the "Salt" issue was a bit weird. But yeah, it was scarce.
Salt is a pretty realistic resource to fight wars over. There have actually been several in history over salt.
War over Salt and Iron is actually way more realistical than what you see in 99% of the other fantasy war games out there lol
This is not a game, it’s a story with a game. Love it.
Thank you for another organized, to the point review. In this case though I think you might be a bit tough on story dominance, seemed it could be easily fast forwarded. And I think you were too lenient as to the playability on PC with mouse/keyboard. I found it to be a show stopper with rooftop tiles untargetable either for shooting at or for movement.
It’s def one to be played with a cobtroller
What is your go to site for achievement hunting? I have to imagine you are trying to optimize your runs for achievements since you do so many 100% reviews.
I just use steam guides usually for older games, but yeah generally I follow a few methods Ive detailed in a video a while back. You do enough of them, you start getting an eye for how to approach things before you even really start each title.
The game is currently on sale for $35 on Steam, as of Dec-18.
As someone who wants to enjoy a good story. Preferably without a savior the world ends without me story. Which game should I pick up, traingle strategy or tactics ogre?
These games can be played simply or very tactically, like chess if you rush your move you will be destroyed quickly, but if you think & plan your moves then it will offer a good tough challenge, i wish they could include some sort of versus mode v real opponents
one thing I often find offputting about "modern" jrpgs is how much time you spend before the game actually opens up all of its subsystems and hand you the wheel, or how much it pushes you into certain paths at least in the first playthrough. You see this in persona, fire emblem and a whole bunch of other titles.
For some reason this made want to see Vandal Hearts 2 remaster, seeing that with modern pixel art and skill animations would be pretty damn awesome.
Mad respect for a proper review channel that actually completes the games properly.
There are many games that only get better in the endgame, and there are many games with lackluster endgame.
I understand it's unreasonable to expect all reviewers to 100% their games but I'm more interested in those who do.
Subbed and Joined.
if you only could buy one, would you prefer this over tactics ogre?
Im debating to get it or not especially cause of the 60 USD. But i love these type of games. You said its more story heavy and im not that of a heavy story lover more combat guy. What would be a better recommendation?
Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children
Final Fantasy tactics was my all time favorite game for story and game play.
What do you think I’m comparison
Best strategy game I've played since xcom 2.
Will wait for a sale, then! Thank you for the review ;)
Just try it , can’t lie really love this game , ‘!!! After a few months playing Tactics Ogre ! ST are keeping hype and entertainment!
I like your reviews but I personally loved the game. I felt like the choices were actually really tough at times. I thought it was incredible. Major plot twist was awesome and definitely a surprise. Very valid points made here though.
I dont know man. Any game that needed NG+ in order to experience everything the game has to offer is kinda sucks IMHO. Gonna pass this one. Thanks for your video upload. It really helped me.
I really enjoyed this game especially as a fan of game of thrones. Game of the year for me.
Xenoblade 3 will be my GOTY, but this is a close second. Loved every minute of my 100+ hours with it. Still think Frederica's storyline was best, made me tear up.
dude i was so salty
I prefer Roland’s, he's based af and actually thought about his subjects and always think bout a solution, compare to Fredericka
How many hours did the full 100% take by the way Mortim?
About 90, it's been a long week
Are you going try Stoneshard?
so i have this game on mind. would you recommend jut pushing through first playthrough fast without doing side quest and do that in your new game +. cause i'm a player who usually does do every side quests
I would say do everything you can on your first run. The extra battles help keep everybody on the level of the fights as well as provide a little bit extra gold and materials to get those critical upgrades for the characters who need them.
There isn't side quests except battle trainings.
Do everything, it’s worth it
I completely agree with your mention of the bad PC controls. It was such a terrible experience that I returned the game.
Def one to be played with a controller or on the Deck
The peace doesn't last long, otherwise we wouldn't have a story to tell.
What kind of game would that be? Maybe a kingdom management sim?
Big Switch games ported to the PC tend to be relatively high priced and to not get deep discounts, presumably to avoid cannibalizing their sales on the Switch.
Good show sir
Thanks for the review.
I was on fence if I should buy this game but now I know I will wait for a sale.
"gets better on subsequent playthroughs when those guard rails fall off" - what were you referring to here?
Already 100%ed? Mortim is the maddest of lads.
It's barely over a week lol
Cool game
Battle Brothers next? :)
Currently my GotY for 2022.
I love this game
I have been having an alright time on NG0 with the persuasion checks, but maybe it's because my convinctions are a bit spread out. And apparently grounding the mock battles is worth smaller amounts, but hard to say.
It is going to be annoying in the "good" ending which allows you to deploy more characters than you could reasonably have without NG+. If I get that far, I will probably just lower the difficulty and call it even.
This game or tactics orge first?
compared to other classic TRPG's like Ogre Tactics & FFT, how does the story / combat ratio compare?
Like 4/1 here
now this is a reviewers experience! 100 percent for all games you review is dedication! it also put at ease for those who are willing to buy and play the game knowing what to expect! I will most likely get this game on switch once the price drop, ill always be a fan of final fantasy tactics franchise and this will be a great fix!
It feels like something I'll try out once it gets a big sale. I do really like SRPG's, but I'm very wary of games with more cutscenes than interactive parts. I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but there aren't a lot of Kubrick's or Dostoevsky's in gaming. I feel like most games benefit from being humble there.
And, yeah, I might play it and think it's great, but I have a feeling I might bounce off pretty quickly.
Sweet, just realized you're doing 4k now. Nice.
The reviews are, daily stuff is 1080p
@@MortismalGaming Gotcha. They’re the most important anyway - like to be able to maximize and sit back on the big monitor in 4k. So it works out.
Better this one or the octopath traveler if you must just play one of those ?
Depends on what you're after, this is a better tactical game, OT is a better rpg
