I am a retired cop and a retired attorney.
The identification card that the LAPD issued me and that I carried for most of my career was a piece of cardboard with a photograph on top and the entire thing laminated. I could manufacture a more convincing police i.d. card at home with an ink jet printer and a home laminating machine. If my police uniform, badge, and a black and white police car were not enough to convince somebody I was a cop, my i.d. card was certainly not going to do so.
The i.d. cards I carried later in my career were much more professional looking cards. They looked a lot like a credit card with an integrated photograph and a magnetic bar on the back.
As a sergeant, I responded to many similar requests. I always listened to what people had to say because it was possible that an officer had made a mistake. However, not one of those contacts worked out the way the driver anticipated. Traffic stops are fairly simple affairs and police officers rarely get simple traffic stops wrong.
In California, it is a felony to act as an attorney if you are not a licensed attorney. Attorneys tend to be fairly jealous of their prerogatives and have the influence to get such laws passed. People who are thinking about claiming to be attorneys when they are not licensed to do so should carefully research the laws in their states.
Even if the passenger was a licensed attorney, he could still be arrested in most states for obstructing or delaying law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties.

25 years ago, my dad used to work at the local airport. I remember seeing his ID card for the airport, just a laminated piece of cardboard of the airport name, and I thought that was very good security.
I was going through his things the other month and saw his ID card. It was comically bad! You could easily do a better ID today at home.

It's not really that they have to give them a few chances before they take the step of breaking their property or getting physical with them. It's the same thing when they're dealing with black people. They have to give them even more chances because they have to cover their own a**** before they finally take that step to finish the interaction and cuff them and take them to the station and end the night.. It's real easy for you and me to sit here and be annoyed that it took them 10 or 15 minutes for them to get these guys out of the car. There's procedure that has to proceed them getting physical and I think you understand that but this is how people just say ignorant things without even understanding the context to why things are done the way they are done.

If the police can show that they were slow and steady, exhausted their options before using force, then the suspect is likely to get what they deserve and not get off Scott free.

Well, Chilli got away with no jail time for a long time. Eventually it catches up with you.
They generally just get fined. There's not enough room in jail for actual criminals, never mind trying to find space for these nuisances. Their worst offenses tend to be traffic infractions for the most part and aside from DUI, some hit and run and simply not going to court or paying fines at all, we've never been much for chucking people in jail or traffic stuff. Unfortunately we can't jail people for being wilfully ignorant or just plain stupid, either. Or being total jackasses.

7,000 dollar vehicle in basically like new condition where i live. They’re great trucks, but dirt cheap. Odds are it’s not in that good of condition and worth more like 3k tops. Either way, there is no 13,000$ window on this one.
Edit: holy crap that ceiling (whatever you call it) is bad. Based off that, i would guess this is a 2k truck at best, it’ll make it anywhere, but if the rest of the vehicle is that rough, it’s not pretty.
