Years before this sovcit crap became popular, I worked in a city’s legal department. The wonderful citizens would show up and because they didn’t get the answer they wanted, I had my job threaten almost daily for 7 years! They would demand my name and employer number just like a sovcit. They’d say they were going to contact the mayor and expect me to cower. I’d hand over my business card with the mayor’s phone number on the back and tell them to go ahead. Neither the mayor nor my immediate supervisor ever spoke to me about my job. Bullies, all of them.

The citizens would pass through the downstairs lobby, take the elevator up to the 9th floor to the City Legal department where we were behind a locked door. The paralegals had to go outside that door to speak to whoever showed up. Almost daily people just dropped in unannounced without an appointment and make demands.

Not perfect, but, hybrid work is nice since its an excuse to say the worker can not talk to person in person. (but rather a callback) lol

I am a service technician for an ISP, I have been doing it for a long time, doing residential and commercial. Many years ago I had a service call at a high rise building that was a hotel, but is now a state owned home for those with mental issues. It is a fairly nice place, and for the most part the tenants have the freedom to come and go as they please. A local bakery used to provide pastry and baked good every morning, they would bring a bunch of stuff and set it up in the lobby for the residents.
I was finishing up, standing outside the lobby smoking, and on the other side of the driveway a very professional looking young woman probably in her late twenties was having a very heated debate on her cell phone. This was in the days before smart phones, so it would have been a flip phone. I couldn't help but notice her, she was really getting heated on her phone call, I assumed she had taken time off of work to come visit a friend or family member. The she turned around, she didn't have a cell phone, she was raising hell with somebody via a bagel, she had it held up to her ear like a phone.
Sort of like this lady with her sack camera.
