  • @saeklin
    @saeklin Před 2 lety +62

    Cutting the loop might help. Also, as others have said you could modify the challenge to be "multiple lines, but same route". Its fine if you don't have enough bridges, the lines don't all have to traverse the whole length of the "main" line. You can also try a massive single "loop" made of multiple lines that never overlap.

  • @GojiMet86
    @GojiMet86 Před 2 lety +228

    I love this as a train guy. This reminds me a lot of the Glasgow Metro. It's just a big loop line. I like seeing what normies...uh, I mean non-trainspotters, do when they play metro games. Loop lines are a common strategy for cities that have spoke-hub lines.
    Systems like the Moscow Metro have most of their lines head to the city center and they intersect a lot, which is nice if you want to head to the center. But if you're in an outer area, it can be difficult to get to a different outer area without heading to the center. This is where loop lines come in handy. You don't have to go all the way in, just transfer to the loop line.

    Yes. The ideal line visits different station types between each station as much as possible and any line that has an end where the train doubles back on itself visits the same station type immediately after one possibly different station at each end. As in if you end with a circle and before the end is a triangle, the train visits triangle-circle-triangle. Also if you put two of the same shape in a row at the end say two circles, the train visits circle-circle-circle whereas connecting those two circles together in a loop remains just two circles visited in a row not three.

    Not fair, Melbournes entire network of TRAINS will pass thru the CBD with a ever efficient Round-a-Bout the trams act like connecters meshing thru the CBD and linking arterials in the larger LGA cities, an lately we're getting a outer loop. It's gunna be great

    1,400 was my limit
    Then I learned the flower pedal design (each line gets a little circle and connects to one central station)
    The next map I got 2,200
    But then I had a thought, If you have that so that specialty shapes only have to transfer to one line, why not have a dedicated line?
    Didn't think much of it but the next time I tried it I got 3000 in London and am top 1% (can't even see the number on the bar chart)
    Never got past 1,400 again

    at 5:20 if you continue that line to the southeast it actually, literally will be Berlin's "party train".
    "another bloody circle" must be how you feel in real life when city planners insist on segregating residential from commercial districts.
    you could've done two identical routes on Melbourne for your one-line challenge, it wouldn't be cheating

    Seems like developing 1 line to max works good. Just needed to start adding more lines after.

    You got screwed over hard in the first route: no extra tunnels and impossibly many circles.

    you could try and have it like this:
    imagine a station being in the part of the 8 where the lines cross and the lines being the tracks you now have two tracks going through one station i think that could work well
    sorry for my english

    Try building more than 1 loop if it gets like that. Means you can have 2 medium lines with 10 trains versus 1 large line with 5.

    For Berlin, it mentioned something about limited tunnels. That seems counter intuitive, as Germans are engineers and surely would love building lots of tunnels. There should be limitless tunnels for maximum efficiency. If tunnels for the sake of tunnels are not good enough for Germans, efficiency brought by tunnels will be. Got to like efficiency. And tunnels.

    if you want to do this again, try to place another line on top the first line, it will help you to get more train
