    That "brushing against the LGA pins" actually works much better than most people realize. Just finished setting up a X58 system with a P6T Deluxe v1 that would not recognize the two ram sticks in the middle. Some brushing with isopropyl alcohol and voila, all ram sticks are being recognized just fine and being overlocked.

    Back to the day when I was in my early 20s I was into ww2 military vehicles and I hooked up with a bunch of guys who had them too and we were always looking for parts for them. We found a Jeep warehouse where they demoed and sold parts. This was in the late 70s early 80s. They had a huge dunpster behind the building and when parts got to the point of no longer being popular to sell they dumped the brand new leftover parts in the dumpster. Most of it was for mid 60s to mid 70s Jeeps and jeep pickups etc. We got a pile of master cylinders and other good stuff and my buddy had just got a jeep wagoneer so he took a chance and put one of the master cylinders on it and it truly was brand new and worked perfectly. I looked up what all parts were for and we sold all of them for great prices and made some money. It would have been a waste for all that stuff to be scrapped being brand new. They got wise shortly after to our dumpster diving and locked everything up but it was a fun time and made some extra money and gave people some good deals on new parts.
    I hope you stay hooked up with those guys and sharing with all of us.

It's like fishing. Sometimes you come home with nothing but many times you find something to use, fix, and sell. One time we had to use my truck and my Wife's van to get all the bags of toys. In that haul just all the Legos we found which could fill a bathtub halfway.

    I like that Bundaberg soda. It has Sarsaparilla in it. There was a period of about a month or two when a local shop had it, never seen it before or since, I live in Denmark.

    As you mentioned again and again,those 7970 are STILL fine,and I would LOVE to see a build with GeForce 570 (I have almost a similar like you got lie around).
    BUT , there's a question of all them old cards absolutely NEEDIN' a powerful PSU....

    The question of the day I've been asking for years lol. Still haven't found anything perfect. The best one so far is CRC Powerlube here in the U.S.A. works well tough it's a little thick, but no where near as thick (or smelly) as WD-40..

  • @emlyndewar

    Good prices on those 7970s. In these trying times, they are decent cards to throw in a system.

    • @kuhrd
      @kuhrd Před 2 lety

      Those 7970's aren't very well supported anymore. I gave a friend an old 7950 3GB and it was not much faster than their onboard graphics. They also only support the directx 11.1 featureset so that is also an issue with many games.

      @@kuhrd Not possible, tell your friend to manually install the AMD GPU graphics driver - not just rely on windows-updates driver. It's 3gb 384bit gddr5! You can even run Witcher 3 on medium full-hd 60fps, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty MW 3, Path of Exile, Crysis 2 and 3 on high, FarCry3 maxed, GTA V on medium settings and full-hd, any game with reasonable requirements not damn newest CoD and Battlefield games because obviously it does not compare to current 800$$+ cards. But people still game on GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 760, and an HD 7950 is better, I had it, then R9 290 and RX 580. The only downside is the power consumption, but on a decent 500-600w PSU you can play what, 60-70% of the games? at least on medium settings on fullhd with it.

    • @kuhrd
      @kuhrd Před 2 lety

      @Jeffrey Grindle AMD released a new Adrenalin 21.5.2 driver like 4.5 months ago but the actual drivers in the package included for the HD7900 series cards are legacy. In other words, the driver package is new but the actual driver support in the package for such an old card has not changed much since March of 2016 when AMD made their last major performance tweaks to the HD7900 series driver. The point here is that the HD 7950 and HD7970 are 10-11 years old and it doesn't make a lot of sense to try and make them work anymore when you are lucky to get 0.1% low 30 FPS at 1440P with settings at medium or low on any modern game that supports it unless you have no other choice.

    • @kuhrd
      @kuhrd Před 2 lety

      @@cosminmilitaru9920 She did install the latest driver available for the HD7950 and it is performing worse than the Ryzen 5700G integrated graphics at 1440P for 1% and 0.1% lows with low-medium settings. The average framerate is slighty higher on the HD7950 in many games but the tearing and framerate dips are significant.

    Instead of cutting wires, you could get a terminal (pin) removal tool.
    This allows putting terminals (pins) anywhere you want inside the connector.
    If you buy new/additional terminals, you can then crimp wires together inside one terminal pin.
