How to replace a water pump and timing belt on a miata

Hey yeah idk why when I was editing the video the music was so much lower like background music but for whatever reason when I uploaded it was super loud

So is it a must to replace the timing belt with the water pump?

Not necessarily but highly recommended since it has to come out anyways

The timing belt you took off did not look bad. How did you know it needed to be replaced?

Mostly just for preventative maintenance since it has to come out anyways for this water pump best to just put a brand new one in, plus most water pump kits for these vehicles include a new belt.

Would've been nice to show us how you went wrong with the timing gears. You locked it all into place. What went wrong with the putting it back together?

Hey yeah the camera malfunctioned when putting things back and I just wanted to get it all done but I just forgot to tighten the 3 bolts on pulley for the alternator belt and on the test drive it fell off and snapped the belt

Very good question exactly what I was going to ask. How did timing jump if previously already locked in place. So it seems he forgot to tighten the cam and crank bolts is what I understood because. Idk what the alternator has to do with timing. Unless he meant the serpentine belt snapped but doesn’t make sense. Probably meant timing belt. So for future projects don’t just crank any car for that reason after a timing job always hand rotate it a few times first . Make sure everything is good because wrong timing on an interference engine will blow your engine at worst if you get it to turn on and minimum bend a rod or valve!
