    Sheldon Keefe is a good coach & his head should be nowhere near the chopping block. It's not even close to his fault - he did the best with the soft players that Dubas has provided. Also, they are stuck in the toughest division in pro hockey. Treliving hasn't had the time to build his team yet - so he shouldn't be on the chopping block. Dubas left him with hardly any draft picks and a team full of soft players with no trade clauses right up against the cap. Shanahan's head should be the only one on the chopping block. When the Bruins sweep the Leafs Shanahan should be replaced and Treliving should be allowed to try and deal one or more of the core 4. Mitch Marner, IMHO, is one of the most overrated players in the NHL and he needs to go - he is already overpaid by at least $3 Million and he's going to want $13 Million on his next deal. NO - HELL NO.

    8 years in with the same philosophy (hey Shanny) and all of our home grown media is still trying to put lipstick on a pig. T.O. has some great individuals however they all play on the forward lines. Reilly who was once a stalwart ‘D’ man for them has faded away and is hardly noticeable (not rushing the puck except on the P.P.) Nylander is showing some of the old ‘don’t give a shit attitude) and for me that attitude is surely pissing off the guys dig in hard every shift. It’s GREAT to have a guy like Matthews, he’s as great an all round player (except for not being a fighter) as the Leafs have ever had. For all the money and V.P.’s and general employees they have, they haven’t developed a top goaltender. Deep defense is not even a passing consideration. EVERY PUNDIT who is asked to evaluate the Leafs chances is giving the same response since they’ve paid highly for players who have won 1 playoff round in 8 years. I watched the Leafs win cups in the ‘60’s and have bled BLUE AND WHITE my entire life. I have gotten the chance to cheer for some great individual players since those years but NOTHING has even approached a close cup run. SAME OLD LEAFS. MONEY FOR OLD ROPE !

    Look at the template for success over the last fifty years, regarding Stanley Cup champions. Quite frankly the Leafs don’t fit into that template. Four finesse forwards, lack of depth, average defence and average goaltending, has never been the recipe of a championship team. Period.

  • @bluesman7119
    @bluesman7119 Před 28 dny

    the Leafs should know what to expect from Boston, I think special teams and goalie's will be keys, the Bruins will come out banging , the Leaf's D have to ready and the forwards have to play North /South for a full 60 , question is can the Leaf's do this enough to beat the Bruins, I want to say yes , it all depends which team shows up for the playoffs, the Leafs are not favourite to beat Boston or go far, so maybe less expectations could be the best thing for the Leafs, but I have to agree with Ray Panthers could be the team but don't overlook Carolina they could go far this playoff ,

  • @gameburn178
    @gameburn178 Před 27 dny

    Leafs are actually underrated, have been all year. But Boston is strong again, even without their previous generation of stars. No idea how they keep up a winning record for decades at a time. On paper, I like the Leafs, but certainly their previous failures haunt them. We'll know by game 2 whether the Leafs have it or not. It's theirs to lose I think. So many high end players... all in their prime, with the exception of Tavares and a couple of the D.

    Biggest mistake of season, not getting Marner to Centre second line and move JT to third centre. If we going to pay him megabucks again, he should have more responsibility. Getting him working on faceoffs during off-season. He has defensive acumen, is a playmaker and to me a more natural born centre like Denis Savard type.

      @@Eazy-Rider Sammy is hot and cold - not what you want in a goaltender. The Leafs do not have a star goaltender. You build a Stanley Cup team from the goaltender out. paying 50% of the cap to 4 players has crippled this team. The D is led by Rielly who is God awful. He always pinches and get's caught and never, absolutely never, clears the net. He just waves his stick. The only good D they have are McCabe, Edmunson and Benoit. Keefe has to go as does Shanahan. This team's defensive short-coming is egregious! The poke-checking wingers are soft and do pirouettes at the blue-line while the Leaf goalie is under siege. In conjunction, they have 2 D and a winger are standing flat-footed trying to play goalie while SCREENING the actual goalie! I get it early in the season. NOT in April!!! It doesn't matter what number the D are wearing. It's a horrendous (coaching) philosophy that is the issue, especially come play-offs!! Soft...softer...softest...and it seems to be just fine with this management team. I don't care if we score 7 goals then.......lose 8-7!
