  • I know the "Magic" 35mm f1.4 is a great lens and so is the new 33mm but don't sleep on this one. The XF35mm F2.0 R WR has been one of my favorite if not my favorite lens since I've been shooting with Fujifilm gear.

    It was the 2nd prime I bought. I love it. Great review!

    I've just started with Fuji cameras and lenses. and I'm enjoying the journey. The 23mm f2 is my first lens I bought, the 35mm is now my second lens, but only used it properly on one shoot up to now. I found it produces very nice images and I like its field of view, the weather sealing means a lot to me with these two lenses, small size and build quality. Having seen pictures on line from both of them and reviews I made my mind up to buy them. I intend to use them mainly for street photography, easy carry light weight setup in what ever the weather as to offer, I'm retired now and want to produce work for myself, and Fujifilm make the type of gear I'm interested in at this time. thanks for sharing very useful I have subscribed.......

    Don't forget the XC 35mm f/2. The same lens with less metal and no aperture ring for 1/2 the cost (and less weight)

    I love the35mm f2. I recently purchased the Fuji 33mm f1.4 & it is tack sharp wide open. I intend to use & keep both lenses. The 35mm f2 for an everyday carry lens & the 33mm f1.4 for paid assignments & low light work. The 23mm-35mm-50mm F2 (Fujicrons) offer exceptional value for their respective price points, IMHO.😊

      Hey Jeffrey, That’s awesome! I hope to get the 33mm someday soon. I will probably keep both and use them just like you described as well. And you’re right the Fujicrons are fantastic lenses. The compact design and build quality alone is one of the reasons I was drawn to the entire X-Series system. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! Much appreciated.

    I recently switched from Sony to Fuji and the first lens I tried was the New 33mm f1.4. Love that lens but it was to tight for the type of pictures I take, so I returned it and got the 18mm f1.4. And to complement it I got the 35mm f2, still thinking if I should get the 50mm

      I hear amazing things about the 50mm f2. That's one of the next lenses I will definitely try. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you try the 50mm.

    Thank you for the video. Would you recommend XF35mm f2 or Sigma 30mm f1.4 for my XT3?

    • @CraigBergonzoni
      @CraigBergonzoni  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't know much and haven't had a chance to try the Sigma 30mm so I can't make an informed recommendation. I do notice the Sigma doesn't have an aperture ring, that my not be a deal breaker for you but it's something to keep in mind. Hopefully I can try one of the Sigma lenses soon. I can say the 35mm f2 is an awesome lens. I love the small size, build quality and image quality of it. Thank you for watching and for your question! As soon as I try one of the Sigma lenses I'll let you know.

    I have both 35 1.4 and 35 f2 but if I had to choose one it would be the 35 f2 simply because its discrete and weather sealed some of my best work has been shot on the 35 f2 and I have had 3 copies of that lens - um I have a problem haha

    • @CraigBergonzoni
      @CraigBergonzoni  Před rokem +1

      lol I spot zero problems ;) That's awesome you have some backups. While I truly appreciate the images the 35mm 1.4 kicks out I just love this lens so much for the reasons you mentioned. Thanks for watching!

    i recognize the benefits of the f2 lens for its size and price.
    yet there's just some of the faster lens that feels are "must have" and gives less reason to get the same focal length and at f2, one example is this 35mm f2 vs the f1.4 lens.
    for me the 23mm f2 seems to be the "best" option to choose.
    would love to test the 56mm f1.2 to see how "magic" it is
    as for zoom, im really bad with them for I tend to only use the widest or most zoom modes. and rarely ever in between

    • @CraigBergonzoni
      @CraigBergonzoni  Před 2 lety +1

      Great points! I love that there are these choices for us and that the f2 lenses are good enough that they’re even worth considering at all vs 1.4 lenses.

      In the film days slower primes tended to be much lacking in image quality compared to the fast ones but with the Fuji F2s it's not the biggest compromise a and purely for the size I would chose the F2s over the faster varieties disregarding price difference.

    Being a 18 year 4/3 shooter and I've been itching to try something along with my m4/3 cameras. The fuji bodies really fascinate me and specially the xpro 3 and 100v. My problem is I find the lenses in the 35 equivalent and 50 equivalent sorely lacking in the image quality compared to the m4/3 rendering at all price levels. Except the 100v lens which is really, really good and the newest 35mm 1.4. Equivalent. You can't get a 100v anywhere for 6 months almost and im considering just getting the xpro body and just save a little longer for that lens. I basically use that focal length 70% of the time and then a 50mm equivalent even though I have several other lenses.

    • @CraigBergonzoni
      @CraigBergonzoni  Před rokem

      An X-Pro body is a good idea. I actually just picked up an X-Pro2 and am trying out the X-Pro line for the first time. The new 23mm, 33mm and 18mm lenses are amazing and those would pair well with any X-Series body. For my daily carry I love smaller lenses so I bounce between the 23mm f/2.0 and the 35mm f/2.0 and between these two they cover my needs well. I will eventually add the newer lenses to my kit as well though. Let me know if you do decide to try a Fujifilm setup. I'd love to hear how it goes. Thanks for watching!

    Not sure why would you call this lens underrated, except for the click-bait purpose. Excellent lens even if it lacks this XF35/1.4's magic.

    • @CraigBergonzoni
      @CraigBergonzoni  Před 2 lety +2

      It's part click-bait but also a sincere question. I haven't seen a lot of discussion about this lens of late. It gets lost in the shuffle on CZcams between the talk of the old school magic of the 35mm 1.4 and the new 33mm 1.4. And I agree it's an excellent lens which is why I wanted to make a fresh video about it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      On Amazon uk it’s one of the few lenses with a five star rating, along with the 23mm and 50mm f2s, and the 18mm f/1.4. So people obviously love it!
