- Today I review the Fujifilm 35mm f2 lens, after 9 months of use. I tell you why I picked this one over the f1.4 version and discuss some of the differences. It was my first prime lens in the Fuji system and a great entry point into beautiful Fuji glass at an affordable price.

Hi Matthew. Nice job on your review of the 35mm f2. I have the 35mm f2 & absolutely love it. It is a great everyday “walk around” lens as it is so small & light weight. The image quality is also very nice. I am fortunate to also own the 33mm f1.4 lens . It is able to focus very quickly & is tack sharp. I am quite pleased with the image quality also. Maybe, I will purchase the 18mm f 1.4 lens at some point, as I believe that it is also quite sharp & also has a great build quality. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the photographic community. You have a great “voice” for you tube videos.😊

It is a really great lens. Was my first lens for my X-T4 and use it until today for weddings.

Cool, i have the lens but pictures show darker corners and a dark band left & right side. Looks like I shoot through a pipe. Wonder why only the center shows no dark?

Wow this is rad! Thanks for the vid. Just came from your Nikon F3 vid. I'm a film guy thinking about getting a digital for my girlfriend and I to play with on trips and what not. Is the Xt3 a good choice for someone like myself? Taking a mix of group photos and street photography. Thanks!
Thanks so much! As a film guy myself, I think the xt3 is a great bridge camera. The manual controls are wonderful and easy to pick up coming from film slrs. Also, the image quality is great, especially with the film simulations.
Does it distort the face for portrait 35mm f2 for make up portraits ? Thanks
I've found that 35mm on a crop sensor does not noticeably distort anyone's face when shooting from normal portrait distances, similar to 50mm on a full-frame sensor or film.
A great entry lens? I "entered" years ago and this is still my favorite lens.

The 35/1.4 is A LOT bigger and A LOT heavier, seriously ?? (164g vs 184g) - the difference is 20 grams not 20 pounds.
The height difference is 4.5mm.
The real difference is aperture F1.4vs F2, now you will say, that doesn’t make much difference.
For weather sealing, i am sure all your film gear is weather sealed ;) … fuji weather sealing is gimmick anyway.
Dude, go and hold both of them in your hand and use them instead of justifying your purchase here and misleading people.
The 35 1.4 isn’t heavy at all.
the old 35/1.4 is way too slow.

After 2 dead, non sealed Fuji cameras and 1 XH2 going strong after use in some extreme Scottish conditions, I'd like to suggest that Fuji weather sealing is well worth it. They obviously aren't waterproof, but they make a difference to the point that all my lens choices are now firstly based on weather sealing.
Of course, people shot film before weather sealing, but how many electronics were in your average film camera :).
