  • In this new series, I walk through my struggling calathea collection, plant-by- plant, to assess what's wrong and what I can do to help improve the health of each one. I'm continuing this series with my Calathea White Tiger. Hang out with me while I figure out what's happening with the plant and do what I can to help it get better.

It's amazing to see how much these plants can take and still keep on growing. Thank you for making these videos of your calathea journey!

Hey! I just found your content recently and I absolutely love your videos! I am a newer calathea enthusiast and I've gotten so much great advice from you! I particularly love this series as well, and hope your calatheas have been recovering nicely. 😊

Thank you! I am still going through the ups and downs with them, and many have recovered. 😊

I noticed that Calatheas love a more clayish soil and not too lose and full of perlite. Just an observation with my babies.

Always fun to watch a new video from your channel. I stopped getting spider mites on my calatheas with the captain jacks super soap. Neem never quite worked for me. A few good spray downs and I haven’t got a a new infestation in over a year. I still spray down if I see anything dubious as a preventative tho.

Hi! I am just starting my calathea journey. I got one in the Spring. It is in a terracotta pot. I notice that is dries out quickly but I like that is doesn't hold moisture long due to the white fusion having delicate roots. This just means I have to water more often. It looks like your plant what drying out too much since the leaves were crispy. There appeared to be a lot of perlite. I am newer to this whole plant journey but that seemed like a lot perlite in a terracotta pot for a plant that likes some moisture. It looks more suitable for a snake plant or other succulent plant. The calathea will probably do better in the ceramic pot with that much perlite.

Love your content! Calathea are some of my favorite plants. Where do you get your amazing plants from?? I have the hardest time finding the more unusual ones. Thanks again for your amazing content and sharing your beautiful plants with us! I've had so much more success with my collection since I started watching your chanel 😊

Watched a lot of your videos. Honestly you use way too big pots for the root volume I noticed. Unless you have them in really sunny spot, and yes some calas can be in direct sunlight if you do it right, you will just get root rot and crispy leaves I'm afraid. No amount of perlite will save you

Any tips for Fucata? I have two, and both seem to hate me while my others thrive.

I put mine in selfwatering pots off of amazon and they are doing fine. I think terra-cotta pots dry out to fast. I am in the PNW no humity here.
