    So much great information! It makes so much sense to build your reputation as an individual to 'transfer' that to the agency down the line. It will be much easier to get those jobs once you have already built some rapport with some customers and it definitely makes you look much more trustworthy!

      Absolutely! It is the only thing that worked for us as an Agency. Upwork is a hugely competitive place nowadays! O_O

    There's definitely this chicken and egg issue when it comes to starting out on platforms like Upwork! If I don't have ratings, how do I get my first gig! Thanks for this awesome video to walk through this problem :)

    Hi Olga, thanks for this very helpful video. I need help please, I recently started an agency, all of my clients are BYOC and I don't know how it works in applying jobs as an agency like negotiating the rate to the client and the freelancer, because when you submit a proposal in behalf of your freelancer they'll see the rate/price of the project, Do you meet the client alone before introducing the freelancer? Or both of you are present when meeting the client?

    • @pauljimsikat9691
      @pauljimsikat9691 Pƙed 2 lety

      My other question is, can I apply to jobs using my personal profile and connects then just discuss to the client about assigning the contract to my agency freelancers? My concern is more of a matter of terms of service of Upwork. Is it legal and safe to do that? I'll be very grateful if you will reply. Thank you so much.

      1) Rates & How to explain those rates to your freelancers: I did a livestream on Upwork FAQs some time ago, here is the required part (I urge you though to watch the entire livestream, because we cover many other questions there): czcams.com/video/kWM5KJjJSTo/video.html
      2) I would not recommend doing that. For a number of reasons. It is legal and safe according to Upwork terms, but clients won't like that. They prefer to actually talk to a person who's going to do the job, rather than to rely on your "oh I promise they will deliver value". Besides, why not do that from your freelancer's account? You can apply on their behalf, and you'll be present in the chat as a manager to control the situation.

      @@OlgaPogozheva Hi Olga, is it ok to apply in behalf of my freelancer using my personal account? Is it not against upwork's TOS? I've been wondering how I can do that because I have a lot of connects(200+ unused every month) and I'm not using them. How would that work? How will you tell the client that you're going to bring the project into your agency having your freelancer work for them?
      Do you just state it in your proposal? If so, what do you say? or you'll just meet the client together with your freelancer on your first meeting?
      Please help.🙏🙏 Thank you.

      @@pauljimsikat9691 I guess I've already answered your question? Please re-read my previous answer. And also, watch that livestream of mine, I cover your question in details there.
      In short, you can apply through your personal account, but 1) response rate would be much lower, 2) clients wouldn't like being messed around, 3) it's simply inconvenient, you won't be able to bring your freelancer to the chat and present them to a client, 4) it's only possible if you're not going to present the freelancer and just "work" through your personal account. None of it is good. So yes you can, but I wouldn't recomment that.

      However the earnings from the projects will go to the agency owner’s account. Keep that in mind, because you’ll have to pay your freelancers, and lose $ on transactions

    what if I create an agency over Upwork and hire some freelancer. After some time, when his profile is good enough, he leaves...?

    • @OlgaPogozheva
      @OlgaPogozheva  Pƙed 3 lety +2

      1) you can make him/her an exclusive freelancer, so that they only work with your agency
      2) you can urge them to use their corporate email to register on Upwork, so that you sort of own their profiles
      3) but it doesn’t make much sense, because you can’t give that profile to another freelancer - customers will know (unless your freelancer has got a twin with the same skills set)
      4) people come and go. Accept that. Wish them well, be generous with their salaries, and don’t burn bridges. It’s a small world. They will remember your attitude. And if it was friendly and supportive? They will be happy to work with you maybe in the future. If not? You’ll still be in peace with yourself.
      5) You’re not a slave master and they’re not slaves. They have the right to go, you have the right to make their working experience with you so good that they wouldn’t want to leave.
      6) everybody is looking for better conditions. It’s okay. Don’t take it personally 😉

      Depends on what you already can? And how persistent and stress-resistant and problem-solving and resourceful you are? Some are ready at 16 yo, some will never be. Research, investigate and build a plan, so that you understand what awaits you. If you’re ready to deal with all cons of running a business, then why not. It really depends on your resourcefulness.
