La Liga does this for all Spanish teams involved in European competitions. They did the same for Villarreal 2yrs ago ahead of their semi final with Liverpool to give them an extra days rest. They do it to give their clubs the best possible chance in Europe which helps boost their coefficient rankings if they do well. It's actually a clever thing, not a nefarious one. It's something the PL should honestly consider themselves.

This comes off the back of Barca being investigated for the whole referee thing...which just gives the appearance that the culture of the league is to do whatever it can to give their teams an advantage, fair or not, legal or not. Yes, the FA could have changed the fixtures because it knew City plays in the UCL quarterfinals and FA cup semi final many weeks ago. FA has changed fixtures in weeks advance and why couldn't it do it this time? How much players get paid is irrelevant but it's physically demanding to ask players to play three games a week. Just because in the past players have played 65 games in tight schedules it doesn't mean it is correct. FA could have adjusted the schedule for better performances.

With modern football there are too many games and competitions, you have the Primiere League, the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA World Club competition, European Cup of Nations and World Cup Qualification. Also some players may return to their homeland in Africa and South America to play in their Nations League. So it's a lot of competition and some players do get injured. So Pep Guardiola is right and he always have a point to prove.

Pep is right, Spain and Germany do all they can to protect their teams especially in times of European competition. It is thought that before the Real Madrid and Man City game, Real didn't play any football for about 10 days. While City on the otherhand had game after game, every three days. Man City played against Real for 120 minutes, it was exhilarating and exciting, one of the best game ever. Real Madrid was running scared and defending with all 10 men in their penalty box. After this game Many City had another 2 days to prepare for an another competition, so no rest and recuperation for the Man City players, whilst Real didn't. So Pep Guardiola knows what he was talking about. He was right.

1- nasty studs raked down back legs causing bleeds stitches & career ending infections (now stud tackles from behind are banned)
    2- 1 sub (vs 7 subs now)
3- 15 man squads (vs 30 internationals at ManC)
4- No air travel & overnight stay in luxury hotels ( Souness drove 6 hrs on a saturday morning to play West Ham or Ipswich or Norwich etc)
5- No on site Drs ( Brian Cloughs career was ended at age 27 cuz it took several days to get an NHS appt - he was on track to become Englands greatest goal scorer & was better than Harry Kane or Ian Rush etc)
6- They played on grassless ploughed fields with puddles & ice rinks in January. It took more skill to stay upright & walk than playing in todays carpets.
7- Weather was colder & windier & wetter, in 1979 there no matches played in January due to non stop snow.
8 Violent fans used to beat up players if they played badly by going to his house after getting drunk
9 They headed balls heavy as cannon balls which soaked in water & mud. It killed greats like England internationals Jeff Astle & Cyrille Regis in their 50's. Never got to play with thier grand kids. 99% of UK fans love Souness for surviving his heart attack mostly caused by injuries stress.
    10. For Souness to dominate like he did was amazing ! He is a national treasure & should be in charge of a UK team to go to future world cups. Brazil has over 300 million citizens. How can Scotlands 5M compete with that. But we can compete with UK combined population of 70M.
