I've updated the plans with a couple corrected dimension. You can redownload the plans from my website here.
www.bearmountainbuilds.com/product-page/bathroom-vanity-build-plans
Perfect timing, I literally just found your video while looking for alternatives to the overpriced MDF junk at the box stores.
I downloaded your plans and see that it was designed to be 3" taller than "normal". Is there an easy way to convert this back to standard counter height? I'm assuming I would simply deduct 3" from the following parts:
Side Panels
Dividers
Back, front, sides, front center, and verticals of bottom drawers
Side and internal verticals of face frame
Verticals for doors
Height of the second from bottom horizontal drawer frame
Finally, it seems as though the heights for the drawer slides is a bit arbitrary as long as appropriate steps are taken to line them up properly on the drawers, is that right?
Soooo….Im in the middle of cutting my plywood sheets from your plans and realized there’s one measurement missing! It’s for the hinged door centers. 5 1/8th by ? I feel like I should be able to figure this out, but….. I’m struggling.
Hi, thank you for the updated plan. I have completed the vanity (not painted yet) it looks awesome.
I have one big issue I am not sure how to resolve. I used the door hinges you recommended from the link. however, my doors stick out too far out they are not on the same plane as the rest of the drawers or the fake drawer. I have maxed out all the adjustments. I just can't get the door flush with frame.
Any ideas? I zoomed into your build video and they are flush with the frame. Your hinge on the video may be different than the one on the link.... Perhaps the manufacture has changed that model...!!??
Any help or recommendation is much appreciated and welcomed.
Wow, very detailed. I’m 39 yrs. old, loved wood shop in Middle school. I’ve finally acquired all the necessary tools to build this vanity. Just need to clean my garage, practice safety procedures and start building. Liked and subscribed. Thank you.
Excellent job! Looks great!
You are so talented! Please never stop doing what you're doing!!
Wow that looks great the color you picked and everything. Beautiful
Very high end vanity! I would love to have that in my bathroom. I love the blue too. I’m painting my vanities because they were built very well and would never replace them with the cheap vanities out there. I’m going with various shades of blue also.
Wow! Really turned out great!
I finally just finished this and it came out great. The instructions and details were great. ( and I am a beginner.)
I’ve seen quite literally a dozen similar videos to this one but you stand out for a masterful use of spacer blocks throughout the build, well done!!!
Great video, and exactly the style vanity we were looking for! Just need to omit the left bank of drawers and I'm perfect.
This was a dope project. Integrated work bench build was cool too. Excited to see more.
Glad you liked them!
Beautiful color. Nice work. I would love to build more of my own cabinets. I'm hoping to do a closet makeover and post it online.
Dude, thank you so much for making this tutorial with a build plan for free. I've subscribed and liked this video. May you be blessed.
Thank you so much for this video and the plans,I'm thinking of making one and adding a top and a back, going to put it under the mitre station (of course made using your plans) as storage :)
Hola! 🖐Really, really nice build. You make it look like you have built hundreds of these. I'm still building the momentum to get going on converting my garage into my workshop and I can't wait to build cabinets for it. This video will be a reference for me definitely. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
Great Job you make it look so easy.
OMG! This has helped so much! I feel like I can do it too. You're the best! Please keep going. You're a great teacher and videographer. :)
Thank you so much for the free plans, you make very easy to understand!
True talent! I would most definitely hire you to transform mine
You can make your own wood filler with saw dust and glue. Works well.
Keep up the good work!
This was great to watch! You're an inspiration, man!
This was by far the best video I found on how to build a vanity. I just finished renovating a small half bath that would never fit a standard sized vanity. I adapted your plans to build a 37”x16” vanity with two doors and two drawers.
As an amateur woodworker I found it a lot easier to attach the stretchers and toe kicks to the sides first, and then attach the base. The toe kicks and stretchers allowed me to square everything up perfectly at the start. I also found it easier to mount the drawer slides, then attach the sides of the drawers to the slides, then I could get a pretty exact measurement for the drawer box front/back (found that idea on an Ana White video).
I also found it easier to build and dry-fit the face frame in place once I had the vanity in its final place. I had no margin for error on the size of the face frame because I had a wall on both sides. I then built the doors and drawer fronts after the face frame was in place.
Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you very much for your generosity in sharing your work and plans.
Soon I will have to build this piece of furniture.
Kind regards from Tarragona- Spain
So many great techniques for us beginners here, well explained and demo'd. The ban of my wood working is squaring boxes and will look at those box squares immediately. Thank You!
Thank you so much for the great video and plans. They were a great help in building this. I just completed it and it came out great.
Would love to see a kitchen island build!!!
You're awesome! Looks great.
When it is finally finished, you should make a video showing the door opening and the inside.
You can check out the final bathroom renovation video on my channel
Great video. When not painting a cabinet, I like using biscuits to secure the face frame to the carcass
Awesome video! Love the content here!
Looks great good video thanks for sharing
Really, really good presentation. Much thanks for the excellence!
Your work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family outstanding work
Mate, briliant vid! Keep it up. From Australia 🦘🦘🌏🌏
Great Job
This was the era of pocket holes for everything on youtube. Great build just amusing that everyone who got sponsored by pocket hole jig companies went a bit crazy with them.
I’m not sponsored I just like pocket holes
Wow...nice vanity😀
looks great
Really enjoyed this video and the music made it easier to watch. As a female that's never built much at all, i'm giving this a go!
Nice build.
In case you didn't notice and to avoid any future issues I seen you stop mid-cut and the saw pulled away from your straight edge @ 1:27 ... keep up the great work! BTW, I have these little WoodPeckers squares but am not sure mine have those little holes in them and I certainly don't have those clamps. I use Festool Domino DF500 which helps hold things aligned when gluing/clamping and went this way after seeing how out of alignment pocket screws pulled panels ... it looks like your method really holds it in position quite well! :)
Nice Work! 👍
Hi ...this is the best video about making a cabinet. so professional, step by step, clean and exellent , exellent job. congratulations. i've just suscribe .
Waooo amazing work!!! I really appreciate you time. I try to building this... Thanks for the plans🙏
Great video, great plans, I’m going to keep this idea in my back pocket for now. 2024 prices including hinges, handles, paint and top is just under $700. Not too shabby.
I just remodeled the master bathroom and bought a 60 inch vanity of good but not great quality - $2,000.
I will renovate the main bathroom with a 72 inch vanity next year. I planned to build it myself and save money and get very good quality. This video is just what I needed. Thanks
I've went and got all of the material today! Going to start building in a couple minutes, I have to have it done in a week while working a 40 hour week, so I hope all goes well. Thanks for the video and plans!
Good luck 👍🏼 you got this!
How did it go?
Bro this was awesome
New sub, here. Your video production and quality is top notch!
Thanks for the great content.
one of the best cabinet/vanity build videos i've seen on YT....and i've watched a ton. great pace and clear instruction...also like how you pause after a set of steps to go over what you've just completed. keep up the great work!
Nice one! Cheers from Hungary! :)
Wow, nice, I'm not a carpenter. Just seeing how it made, I thinking of purchasing one from the store for my kid's bathroom but the quality waste good want it to last as long as it can.
Keep up the great job.
I think I will make one a bit smaller and swap out the Ply and Poplar for Bamboo...Great design.
This is the best cabinet making video I have seen! While dovetails have their place, I love the simplified drawer technique. I would suggest less music as it gets monotonous, but that is just a personal thing with me. Keep up the great work!
Nice build, im going to get this plans as soon as you have them
This is a bit more complex build so the plans are taking longer. Hopefully they should be done soon
Subscribed and will use your plans, great video!
Love it
Don't know what is your background in carpentry but this is without doubt the best vanity build and the best video I have seen.
Outstanding job
Great video. Out of all my subscription, I have to say this has been the best earned subscription due to the quality of your explanation and mastery of this craft. Great video sir. You have earned a sub from me. Thank you for such a great video.
This is a unique construction method, building the toe kick onto the base and then attaching the sides. That should make being square much easier to achieve.
Appreciate that you offer plans for free on your website and only ask us to subscribe to your channel. Done!!
That is some awesome level of skill you got there bro. I really enjoyed watching the process. Thanks for sharing this video! You just earned a new sub.
My god you are amazing!
Liked and subscribed! Gona build this thanks
tu est un bon professeur
I want to see the different types of bathroom sinks. Thanks 🙏
As everyone has mentioned, this is probably the best DIY cabinet build I've watched yet. Most go into too much detail or over complicate it. Love this video! Only thing I wouldve loved to have seen was your vanity top installation as I planned to use the exact same setup! Either way awesome work 10/10
You can watch it on my bathroom renovation video!
@BearMountainBuilds oh perfect ! Checking it out now. You just gained a subscriber 🫡
A lot of people, myself included, love that old blue bath set. My granddaughter just bought the complete blue toilet, tub, and sink from someone who is restoring a bathroom. She is creating a retro bath and so far it looks amazing.
That's awesome! Those retro styles are not easy to pull off, so that's sweet that it's turning out great!
Sorry for the Spanish…. Pero esta es la mejor explicación que pude encontrar para elaborar un Vanity. Muchas felicidades por tu proyecto y muchas Gracias por compartirlo 👍🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
De nada!… I don’t know much Spanish but I have google translate so thanks for the compliment!
Awesome video!!! Perfect timing too because this is exactly the style of vanity we were planning to build! When will those build plans be coming out ???!??? 😁👍👍
Plans are uploaded now!

Boy, did I need this! I took out my vanity with the intent to replace the side panel due to water damage. I had so much trouble replacing it so I said to my husband that we need to build one. After watching crazy amount of videos, this is the one that matched my brain! However my vanity will be only 36” wide so I got a little discombobulated with the drawer build. I think if I take it slow with the video and the FREE plans, I’ll be okay. 🥴. Thank you for helping us!
I'm sure you've build one already, but doing just a double door front on your first vanity project is a much simpler project, I did this with a small 30" vanity I made for a friend.
Thanks for the video and plans. Without these I would not have decided to build a non-standard 55" wall-to-wall vanity.
Obviously I need to modify your plan dimensions to suit my 55" wide x 31" high vanity. I think I have got the horizontal dimensions fixed by adding 3" to all drawer widths but when I decided to make both top and middle drawers alike to reduce the vertical height by 3" I found problems with the plans. Adding all drawer front heights and allowing a 1/4" gap above and between drawer fronts and 5 1/4 for toekick, I show over 1 1/2" greater than the 31" height needed. Using the plan dimensions without changing anything shows the same thing. Is it possible that the bottom drawer front height is wrong?
Great video and plans. Question the plans say 3- 1x2x8 poplar, is this supposed to be enough for the face frame and drawer fronts? Only seams to be enough for the face frame. Thx
Absolutely love the video! One question. If the depth of the vanity is to be 20.5", don't the bulkheads need to be 19.75" with the face frame accounting for the remaining .75"?
That looks great. You did a awesome job. How about some bunk beds?
Thanks I appreciate it! That's a great idea too, I'll add it to my list of projects.
Lets keep going
Am I missing the section of the plans where you give the measurements for the face frame/drawer spacing? Awesome video and I’m excited to get started.
Watching this and telling myself I can surely do this even though I’ve only used my circular saw for a few very basic cuts. 😂
You got this 👍🏼 the cuts are the easy part there are just a good amount of pieces to put together
Art
Thanks for posting that is exactly how I want to build my vanity. Best woodworking video I've ever seen! I liked and subscribed. One question - did you only use one coat of paint? Thanks!
Yeah I only did one coat of paint
How long are the spacers that you cut to get the dividers in the right spot? I’m building according to your plans and don’t want to mess this part up!!
The plans and video are great. Thank you so much and I also subscribed. I am to the point of making the face frame. There are no measurements to show where to set the horizontal pieces. The top spacing looks to be about 4 or 5 inches, but I have no idea of the specific distances between the horizontal pieces. Can you provide those distances, please? Thank you so much.
You’re right those dimensions are missing, good catch. The top opening dimension is 5” the middle is 7.75” and the bottom is 10.75”. I’ll get the plans updated. Thanks!
Thanks for the free plans! I’ve been following them and have a question. Do you happen to remember the measurement for the spacers you used to locate the divider panels?
Did you ever get an answer to this? I cant find that either.
I think that measurement got left off the original plans. I’ve updated them now. I believe it was 13.5” but would probably be worth the check
Thanks for the plans. You mentioned in the video that you created spacers for the top and bottom drawers when assembling the front frame. Do you remember what those spacer measurements were?
1/4’’ gap between each door front
Hey thanks again for posting this vid. I'm going to make this exactly like you did, but I'm wondering about nailing and gluing the bottom of the drawers instead of using dados. Any thoughts? Thanks!
It would be fine to do that but you’ll have to adjust the height of the drawer sides accordingly
Thank you for making this video! You have a great pace. I’m getting ready to build a vanity and this helped. I also downloaded your plans. Quick question: the hinges you used for the doors aren’t on your materials list. Can you tell me which ones you used? Specifically I’m looking for the overlay measurement. Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Here is the link tot he hinges I used amzn.to/3wExJpB
Excellent work and very inspiring! Curious, would the paint need to be mold & mildew resistant given that it's going to be in a steamy shower bathroom?
Most acrylic pairs will be resistant
What is the correct opening height for the top and bottom drawers, it is not listed in your plans
LESSKEEPGOIN'
How many 90 degree clamps would you recommend a guy own if he was going to build a fair amount of cabinets for his house?
I live my life by “the more clamps you own the easier life is”, but I have 2 sets of 90 degree clamps so a total of 4. I’d say that’s all a guy really needs but another set never hurts
N+1 is the answer lol.
I love this! Can you show something similar but smaller? I want to do this in my bathroom but the biggest I can go is 40".
If you download the plans he mentions you can see all the parts broken down and scale down the measurements for your needs. I’m doing that now and it’s helping me with my first cabinetry gig!
Are you really asking him to redo this project to your specs? Holy moly.
Awesome video tutorial! A question about the plywood.... does the wood species matter for bathroom applications? I know it gets painted afterwards. Building supply stores have too many choices and those decisions can get overwhelming. I presume basic sanded pine plywood would be OK, but some of the sheets seem to be not worthy or looks like it would eventually unpeel being in a humid bathroom. And anything needed to protect the bottom? Thanks!
I used generic sanded plywood, but definitely follow your gut feel. If the plywood looks like it would peel apart quickly don’t buy it. Maybe even go to a different store to see if their sanded plywood looks better.
In regards to water proofing, the paint will pretty much make everything water proof as long as you’re not dumping water on the surfaces every other day. If your bathroom is oriented where water could easily get under the vanity and/or pool I would recommend running a small bead of caulk between the vanity and floor.
Hopefully this helps
Great tutorial! I have built the carcass and most of the face frame, but I don’t see on the plans or in the video what the measurements are for the spacing between the drawer horizontal pieces of the face frame. Can you post those measurements?
I updated the plans and they should have the dimensions
Wow, this was a great video. I have never done any woodwork but your instructions are so great that I actually feel very confident to take on a project like this one. Do you know what was your total cost built including counter top?
Including the top it was around $400 I think you’d buy a similar one at a store for about $1500
Great video!! easy to follow! what's the ETA on the plans?
Sorry for taking awhile of this. I’ve pretty busy with other videos and they’re taking awhile since the build is a bit more intensive then the other projects I’ve done
Plans are uploaded!
Based on your drawing you show the stiles at 21 3/4 of an inch and the rails at 5 1/8 my calculations are the stiles at 19 7/8 and rails at 4 7/8 for the doors with a 1/16th of a gap all the way around please review and correct me if i may have miscalculated.
Great job!
What software are you using to make your plans?
I use a combo of sketchup and Adobe illustrator
Thanks for the info!
what kind of sanded plywood did you use?
Thank you for the video. One question - is the 34" height the normal counter height or is the 31" height the normal counter? Little confusing while reading your awesome plans.
31” is standard counter top height. I designed this to be 34” because I’m taller
Can you send a link to those right angle brace clamps? Never saw something like those before. Very interested
Here’s a link to them amzn.to/3LRBaP6
I have a link to everything I use in my videos in the video description if you want to check those out too!
