So glad I found you, my tub is yellow and I will be using your video to guide me through the painting process.
That blue tub was so much prettier and they're collectible when they're in that good condition too. really sought after for mid century restorations. Now it's just like any other white bath.
I have a 1960's blue tub. I was thinking of painting it. Now I won't.
Mines an 80s sage green. Unfortunately they put a 90s plastic tub surround in that looks AWFUL.
Agreed👍🏼
Great job explaining everything and advising in a couple places to let things dry/
cure longer than recommended. Also, most other bathtub related videos are shot with no additional light and everything is so dark -- this video was nice and bright and so professional.
Agreed! Thank you!
Dang, I can't believe you painted that blue tub. I would kill for one of those.
Yeah. Same thought! Tragic to see.
I have a yellow tub. What do you think of that?😂
@@christinemanigian209 In the grand scheme of things, considering you spend like 10 minutes a day in the bathroom, what difference does it make? Pick out a coordinating shower curtain and own the look. As long as the basics are in good shape... the rest is some contractor, HGTV or home depot store trying to sell you something you don't need.
@@signalfire6 I totally agree. I bought a white bathtub curtain and you don't see the yellow bathtub unless you go inside and use the toilet. So I'm not spending hundreds not knowing even if the paint will eventually flake off.
Well now you know how to paint yours blue 😊
Kudos, the tub looks brand new!
You did a great job 🎉 thanks for showing
So glad I watched this as I won't be able to do this with my lung problems. But you did a wonderful job of explaining and the tub looks amazing. Great job.
I reglaze tubs daily, I use a respirator with the appropriate cartridge
I've wanted to do this for years. I didn't know there was a kit to paint the tub. Thanks!
Your tub turned out great!! I am planning on doing mine too and this was very helpful.
I just did my first tub refinish. I'm a maintenance worker and am starting to do a lot of these. You tips are Really Helpful. Thanks
what do you charge?
The best video I ever seen, as instructions had to do it yourself. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, you were very thorough. I would have never attempted this without guidance and looks like yours will be all I'll need.
*Wow! Wonderful job! The tub is so crisp and sparkling!!!* 🌠
thanks for the info! I almost took out my old tub but now will paint it!
I love the way Bear Mountain taught me how to paint a bathtub! After the 8 steps I got a little discouraged I guess someone else has to do it.
This young man is an excellent instructor!!! 💯
Very helpful, BMB! Thanks much. I will be doing same in a month from now. Glad I saw this. Cheers.
I am starting the repair on my girls bathroom! This video was a great help!
Very interesting! Thank you!
An amazing presentation and the information set. Thank you so much.
Excellent work and description
I have been trying to find an approachable yet useful first home project for awhile and I think I may have finally found it
Check out the ekopel 2k no odor better product
Excellent very helpful for a DIY'er 👍
It looks amazing!! I'm thinking of redoing my 2003 Keystone camper tub, it's horribly YELLOW!! Thank you for the lesson!
Excellent video. Thanks for puttin' it together and sharing. Just might inspire me to re-do ours instead of replace. Cheers from Niagara.
Thanks for the demo and tips.
Your music is soo much better than most videos.
I like the energy. Blessings 🙏🏽
Thanks much this was a good review before I plan to do my tube. Thanks for the helpful tips and suggestions!
Trying this today. Thanks a lot
Good luck!
You made it look easy. Looks great. I will be looking for more videos. Thank you for sharing
I have a pink bathtub and sink, I’m thinking about painting them. Great video, makes it look easy.
Great tutorial. I'm looking forward to that follow up video.
Thank you for listing all the products you used.
Extremely clean, careful, attentive step by step process and explanation and great result. Thank you for your efforts. Many thanks for your sharing.
Great video! Thanks.
Great job made it look easy.
That came out perfect
This is so useful and well done! My heart is a bit sad that you went from a beautiful retro blue to a boring white but I get it :')
Excellent man, have saw on MTV cribs many of them have tubs and pool custom painted.
STEP 9: Sciatica
STEP 10: Regret
I'm kidding. This looks excellent, though the blue would've also been a fun choice to keep. Meticulous work and awesome video!
I've been refinishing tubs on and off since 2002. You did a nice job for someone not using a hvlp sprayer.
How long does this last?
I use the HVLP system as well, although his finish looks pretty good here.
@@billhandley943always on video
Good video. Thanks for keeping the music down so I could focus on the actual work and your dialogue without the distraction. :) Am looking forward to your update video.
Bro.. Such a great job.. Prep work is where it's at!
Thank you, this helps a lot.
Wow, looks so much better!
Great tips going to try this on my blue tub
Spray paint provides the thinest coat, a paint/epoxy combo box gives a medium coat, and a thick application like BathWorks & Ekopel gives the thickest & best coat. Also, use a 1/4 inch nap roller, not a foam one. Nap is manuf. suggested, it rolls on great, and doesn't break up like foam. Beautiful work! Thanks.
Thank you this is really helpful
Great info/demo!! Thanks
Looks really good I’m considering repainting my tub
Do it!
Great job,thank you
Very helpful video - I'll be doing this as part of my bathroom renovation. .
I have the same style of bathtub, except it is lefthanded and in white
You did an incredible job and you seem super nice, and I don't want this to sound condescending in any way! But I can predict from experience that this finish will last 12-18 months before it starts chipping away at the edges or around the drain. Plus, you always just have a painted bathtub. If I had a tub like this, with a flawless finish but dated color, I would just pretend that that was my new favorite color and decorate around it. I would have chosen new modern gold fixtures, tiles with some ethnic pattern that included that blue plus some yellows and on-trend hues, some chunky white or cream fabrics, and some luxe wallpaper. Boom, you have a designer fresh bathroom that doesn't look like a fiberglass drop-in unit from Home Depot.
Your idea is excellent, but…in my case, it’s already a (used to be) white tub, and my guess is, about 70 years old. The bottom part of the tub really has no porcelain finish on it anymore and though I can get it clean, it’s very porous and still not shiny and doesn’t LOOK real clean. I have checked into getting a new tab installed, and it involves taking out the pocket door and removing part of the wall to get the old one out and the new one in. Sometimes the options are just too much. With only one bathroom in the house, It’s not necessarily a money issue as much as it is a time issue, just to have a fully working bathroom. Hopefully there’s a product out there that’s more permanent than 12 to 18 months. I surely can’t see doing this every year or so.
@@freewaybaby If the old tub is porcelain or cast iron, smack it with a hammer a few times and carry it out in buckets. If it's fiberglass, cut it up with a reciprocating saw. Removing the old tub is the easiest part. Getting the new one in will be much harder.
This made my day I have a older beige tub from 1998 and I hate so another thing on my to do list 😊
Good job thanks for explaining the job... looks fantastic...I've been wanting to repaint or replace my tub forever ...you just made me decide that this is the way to go.... thanks for showing and thanks for helping....😉 you have one more like and one more subscriber 🏅 thanks.... Peter 👷
Welcome aboard Peter!
Did you do it? And if so, how is it holding up?
Thank you for this video I need to paint my tub ‼️
That is damn cool! I am about to remodel my little girls bathroom and she has a tan tub. It's also tan and brown tile and about as 1978 as you can get. I replaced the toilet and vanity to add some bright white but never knew a tub could be refinished. I think you just saved me a bundle!!
I hope you didn’t do it.. even if done correctly the paint will dull and you won’t be able to clean it. It’ll be a continuous project every year.
@@Helmuesi911 not yet because more and more I'm getting comments like yours and I'm doing more and more homework. I'm trying to keep from tearing out the bathroom to replace a old tan tub.
@@_BAD_MERC_Just put some tiles on the outside of the tub and keep closed off with a nice shower curtain. i.e. my gold basement tub 😅
Your young, your skin is snatched and sculpted naturally.
We had our tub done professionally in our previous house. I believe they used similar materials. It was used daily for over 10 years and still looked brand new. You just have to be careful what you clean it with. Nothing abrasive or caustic. I think doing it yourself is well worth it if you've got the time and energy.
Great video. Very helpful.
Thanks great video & great job, Happy Holidays, blessings to you and yours. 🎊🎄🎁🎉
Thanks for the tip
Thank you very helpful
Brief well instructed video!
Thank you for sharing.
I've also got a ugly blue bathtub n sinks this video is so helpful
Thank u so much
Looks great! 👍🏽
Great Video, very professional job. I'll add this to my honey do list..😃
Very helpful & I’m going to try it.
All the tub needed was a good cleaning! Anyway great video! Thank you.
I remember helping my dad do this years ago. I don't know what the paint was, but it was wicked stuff! I could almost see the fumes :D
You really want a mask and good ventilation
@@BearMountainBuilds haha yes.
Way better than any "bath fitters" liners.
Wow, great job.
I enjoyed your video. I'm renting my house and the maintenance people painted my bath tub. Now it is peeling and they don't want to prepare it. I'm going to keep looking at your video and try to do it myself. Thank You!
Very nice work, thanks friend!!!
Youre an awesome teacher😅
Good job. Looks great.
I did. Mine with plain ole house primer and latex paint and worked great and holding. Did shower walls at my other house the same and did a granite look and polyunsaturated it and a kitchen counter top and still going after 3 yrs.
Latex wall primer and paint on a bathtub? Ok whatever
Awesome: we'll explained as you went along thank you
Super clean degreaser cleans a tub fast and easy
I sprayed mine with automotive paint 5 years ago and it still looks new. I figured if it holds up on vehicles it should hold up on a tub, and I was right. So easy and cheap.
That's actually a great idea🤌🏾. Thanks. It's about finding a paint that works that's the challenge 🥴
I was gona ask, what’s the real lifespan of these paint jobs. Eventually, they’re gona peel.
That's what I was thinking, just use some normal paint. But I didn't know what kind. Thanks.
For the ladies who shave their legs, paint the areas you place your feet while shaving, with the non-slip paint. Also where you step to get out. We place our feet on the side of the tub to dry off before stepping out.
Very realistic and detailed. It will not last 30 yrs due to issues with the type of water in your area, Installer first try error, occupant user harsh chemicals and abuse, but this video is very good if finances are the reasons why you are here, the ventilation part will make you a believer pay close attention.
I'll have to try this out😮
Good job. thanks
Great Job
I Like the blue tub !!
Great video! I have a tub I need to do something with. Any tips for dealing with rust marks? The bottom of the tub has worn to a liner I guess and rust is visible from the previous owner. Comet and no cleaner will remove it. I'm wondering if I can just clean it thoroughly and paint right over it.
Great Job 👏!!!
Great job.
Perfect, we'll worth it
nicely done! I didn't know such a thing was possible as an option to either replacing the tub or installing a cover over it. I'd like to do this to mine
I paid a professional to come in and do it … you just have to be careful not to use grit type cleaners like Vim to clean the tub. I just use dish soap
Great video, I just wanna remodeling my bath tub because it has scratch and yellowing . Now I try to do the paint first after I see your video. Thanks
Thanks Bradley cooper!
excellent, thank you, subscribed
Great Video!!!! I'm inspired!!!
Im going to do this to my bath tub. Thanks
Looks great
great job!!!!!!!!! thanks
Thanks so much for this. Liked snd sunbed 👍
I would have left the blue and added nice subway tiles. That blue was so pretty!
Great job..❤
great job
Awesome job that looks so beautiful, we have a pink tub can’t wait to try it!
Do not waste your money.
Did you have a pink sink and toilet? The fifties!
