Mines was doing the same thing, 2013 chevy Silverado, got the part for 27 bucks, same thing, thank you buddy
Thanks for showing me where the resistor was and how easy the fix was to fix. It’s record heat outside and without AC, driving around is a total nightmare. I’m also going to change the blower motor as well as I’m told you change them together.
Hey man!!!! Great video!!!! Wow you saved me a TON of time by walking us through that so thoroughly. Especially the glove box tip. We need more videos like this on CZcams. Now I’ll be able to see out of my windows in the morning 👍👍

Worked like a charm. By pulling down the glove box I had easy access to the relay. I could reach both screws and the plugs. I got the bottom screw out with a short driver. Part fixed the problem and watching this video made the job easy.

My same problem was the connector going into the blower motor. The pin was burned to a dark grey on the blower side connector. Replaced jumper wire from resistor module to blower motor. Been working without a problem for over a month. Good thing to, cause we are heaving a heat wave here in California. Good Luck hope this helps someone.
awesome, thank you for sharing alternative solutions to this problem in the comments, it really adds value to the viewers. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience, cheers
Thank you. I was dying in here
not a problem, glad you found it helpful. Cheers
This is amazing. I thought it was going to be hard, but it really is an easy fix. Even an idiot like me can do it.
really wasn't to bad once I figured out to just open the glove box. Glad video helped. thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

@@EscapePowerSports all I ended up having to do was give my blower motor a whack and it turned back on and has been perfectly fine since.
Thanks !!
no problem, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Great Video - thanks for making it! and for doing a super fast but easy to follow summary!
I've read some people say to disconnect the black terminal from your battery before replacing the blower motor and resistor, thoughts?
sounds like a good idea to me when working on electrical components. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good tip in the comments. Cheers
Worked for me
awesome, glad it worked. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers

I left on a trip with the AC working intermittently one day in to the trip the AC fan dies.
I return four days later and I just crossed the desert with no AC in MID DAY, yea smart, but it was that or stay another day in hot weather. I m going to try to replace that Blower motor resistor and I hope it works. Thanks for the video.
Hope it works too, let us know how it goes. not a problem and I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
Yea the new resistor works fine thanks for showing how to do it.
fixed..!! tks
that's awesome, glad it worked for you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share that it worked for you in the comments. Cheers
And THIS is why I Love CZcams ! I was thinking " How in the hell am I going to get my hand up there ?
Your Glove Box trick is Priceless ! The time I saved , ( not to mention my skin , and cussing ) ...
You got , ( and deserve !) a Like and Sub from me friend !
awesome, appreciate the kind words. glad it was helpful for you and I also appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Hi
My blower motor works, but it won’t blow out the vents all the time. Does the resistor control the actuators too?
thumbs up thks
no problem, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Just wanted to mention.. there's 4 screws holding the passenger side cover. It's to the left of the back right one tucked in the back
Nice video! I tried this on mine, but to no avail. Next stop on the flow chart!
ahhh that's unfortunate, out of curiosity whats next on the flow chart? blower motor? thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
Escape PowerSports Yes sir, I have checked the fuses and they seem to be okay, so I was going to pull the blower motor and hook it directly to power to see if she spins and go from there!
Escape PowerSports FYI pulled the blower motor, worked fine, hooked everything back up and no issues.. I love electronics! Haha I think maybe a gravel road pothole dislodged something perhaps but I have no idea how or why she stopped working
awesome, glad to hear you found a fix. I've got no idea either but hey if it works it works. Thanks so much for responding with updates and an alternative cheap fix if the resistor doesn't do the trick. Cheers
@@2000chevy4x4 please explain in layman's terms how you check the power. I believe I'm having the same issue you did. I have a 2011 silverado LML Duramax.
I ordered a transistor and motor. Both from E bay, totalled about $50! What I have done for now, is to take the plastic cover off. Probably won't put bac on. Don't think it matters much. I use long stick to tap around the motor, after putting the setting on high. It comes on for awhile. Sometimes acts like it has a hard time get going, even with this trick.
hmmm sounds very similar to what mine was doing. Did you go ahead and replace the motor and resistor and its still having the same issue? Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience with all of us in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports The parts are coming in mail next few days. Already got a T 20 screw driver. Thanks on that info.
I put new resister in, then motor came on and wouldn't turn off. Even with the ignition key out. Was not put in backwards. Do maybe it's the motor. My motor looks like yours and looks screwed in with screw, not the simple, push tab in, and twist out.
Oh man I started unscrewing the bolts without finishing the whole video and after 20 minutes I saw the glove box tip😂
haha glad you caught that part because it'd be to damn frustrating without being able to get easy access to that top one. Glad the vid helped. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
I have a 2012 sierra 3500 srw duramax, the resistor was in an even EASIER spot to get to. Looked much different than the under dash that you were working on. Hope this helps someone
awesome glad to hear it. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share helpful info on other models in the comments for everyone. Cheers
Did u check the blower motor amp drow. It could be couseing your modual to go out. It should be pulling no more than 10 amps max.
I did not as I did not have the a meter that showed amps at the time, But that is a great diag tip and I appreciate you taking the time to share it with everyone here in the comments. Cheers
How would I know if it's my resistor that is bad as opposed to my blower motor itself? The cold & hot temperature wise work but nothing pushes through my vents unless my truck is moving. And the faster i drive the better it pushes hot or cold through.
sounds like the blower motor itself is not coming on which I believe could be either this part or the motor itself, there are some pretty good diagnostic videos if your good with a multimeter but its beyound my mechanical skills, knowledge, and experience so I just started with this part and it fixed the problem for me. Hope this helps. thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments, maybe someone with more experience will see this and have a better answer/solution. Cheers
Hi I have the exact same truck as you and I want to level mine. Is your truck leveled I want to see how it would look. Thank you
all I did was tighten up the torsion bars to raise the front up on each side, think I got at least an inch or two from that adjustment and always do that to a 3/4 ton when I get it. Does make for a slightly less quality ride on highway, but does look better imo. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
This actually applies to 07 to 13, 14 and up are different
I got a 2015 silverado it blow cold in the driver side and not as cold on the driver you think this might be the problem?
ooo I'm no expert, but sounds like a blend door for the temp adjustment to me? maybe someone with more experience will see this and have better advice, good luck and let us know if you figure it out. Cheers
If I had that doggo, I’d fix the A/C for it too.
joy does love the a/c running on a hot summer day. Cheers
Are any other connectors used by GM to mount the resistor? My 2011 Silverado appears to have something else rather than torque's screws ànd I haven't been able to remove the original resistor. Possible rod with a round clip???
hmmm I'm no chevy tech, and I'm really not sure as the torx is what was on my truck. Maybe someone will see this and have a similar set up to yours and be able to shed some light on the situation. Sounds like your describing pop rivets? Sorry I am not of much help with this one and keep us posted when you figure it out so we can all know. cheers
I changed the relay. But it didn't work. Then I was told to hit the blower motor and it worked eventually.
My silverado has the same symptoms as yours but with the addition that my wipers don't want to work when my blower isnt. Do you think by changing that part can fix my problem?
hmmm I honestly have no idea as that sounds like some sort of strange electrical problem, but the part is so cheap I'd probably give it a shot and see if it has any effect on the functionality of the blower and/or wipers. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments, sorry I don't have enough experience to give any kind of real answer. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports I fixed my issue. It was a bad connection in the battery negative terminal.
You could get the shroud out cause theres a 4th 9/32 bolt
Nice! now I know for next time if I ever have to get up in there again, thank you for taking the time to share valuable info with me and anyone else who might see this. Cheers
I can’t find the resistor in my 2014 GMC Sierra. Any help is appreciated.
hmmm unfortunately I'm not sure, but maybe someone will see this and have an answer for you. Let us know if you find it and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
Will this work on my 2015 Yukon XL?
honestly I have no idea, only one way to find out look in there and see what you see. But I'd expect its probably different since that's a newer body style for Chevy and a completely different model? not sure, either way thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
What part am I looking for on Amazon though
amzn.to/3urGpyD didn't realize the link had gone bad, sorry about that I will update in description as well. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave this comment. Cheers
Pretty much what's happening in my 08 Silverado. Now it wony turn on at all
I had a mechanic look at it he said that there was power getting to the blower motor and he says that the blower motor is bad would that still be the case if the resistor was bad
I'm honestly not sure at all. If you trust your mechanic he does this everyday for a living and I only tried this fix that one time so I'd stick with whatever he says. If you don't maybe get a second opinion, but that sounds reasonable to me what he's saying about the motor getting the correct amount of power. Let us know how it turns out. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment with your experience. Cheers
Easy way to test that is to unplug the blower motor from that sensor and put power to it. If the blower kicks on then you know the motor is good
Mine works only when it wants and only on high would you say it’s the same one
its definitely possible as this sounds very similar to what mine was doing. Since they are cheap I'd say give it a shot and see if it helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports thanks man I haven’t really messed w it I mean it works on full blast that what you need down here I’m texas summers
Would this work if driver side blows hot and passenger side blows cold ?
that sounds more like one of the little actuators that open and close the vents behind the dash as my gf's 07 silverado classic was doing that and when I swapped the temp door actuator it fixed the issue. Let us know if you figure it out and hope this helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
I have a 2014 Silverado with a 5.3. The location of the resistor isn’t located here. Can you help?
honestly I have no idea, but there's only one way to find out and that's to look in that area and see what you see. If it does happen to be there let us know so anyone who see's this with the same truck will have that information. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments, sorry I couldn't help. Cheers
Wow i had the same problem with my 2011 silverado i took it to a shop they put new freon fuses and some other things and compresor still didn't turn then they switch the resistor and wala that was the issue they charge me 350 for what they did if i would new before how to do it would spend 50 on the resistor and saved 300
ahhh damn. we'll either way I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with the cost of this job at the shop vs. trying it ourselves. thanks for watching and taking the time to share. Cheers
Probably wouldn't come out because there's a 4th bolt need an extension or deep well. Have to pretty much take it all the way out on a gmc truck the resistor is in a different orientation
Nice! I'll have to check that out next time I need to get under the dash (hopefully not for a while). But serious thank you for taking the time to leave helpful additional info in the comments, adding value for any viewers who come across this. Cheers
Why does the resister keep going out on my 2010 Yukon?
hmm I'm not sure, I know there are some good videos on youtube to test the blower motor maybe look into that? appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Maybe someone with more experience will see this and have a good answer. Cheers
it is not located there on GMC Sierra 2500HD with auto climate controls only manual controls.
10-4 Good to know and I'm sure anyone with the auto controls who reads this will appreciate you taking the time to share this valuable info in the comments. Did you happen to locate it for your auto controls? Our 08 has auto, but I've never had to replace the resistor. Thanks for watching, sorry it wasn't helpful for your truck, and thanks for leaving additional info in the comments. Cheers
Mine was actually in a slightly different place to the right under glovebox. Upside down compared to the video you showed. Not saying you weren’t really helpful. Thank you.
no problem, I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with this fix and that it might be in a slightly different spot for other years or models. Cheers
Inflation is a biznatch. That $30 resistor block is now $85 in my neighborhood
damn inflation is a biznatch. I think all the oem resistors are $100ish sometimes more. Check link in description of video for a cheaper knock off on amazon. amzn.to/3urGpyD Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience with this job in the comments. Cheers
How long did it last?
driving in truck now, had the heater on this am and a/c on now. Both still working as of now 2.5 years later. Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask a good q in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports thanks for the great info. This is a must have video out there to help ppl.
It worked, but now it won't stop blowing 😂 even when I turn everything off.
now that sounds kinda sketchy haha, let us know if you figure that one out as I'm sure that's not ideal for the battery or anything really. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
Great video.. You made it idiot proof.
awesome, glad it was helpful for you. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Odds, duramax resistor needs changed and polaris ranger needs diagnostic....
do you have a second to answer question on polaris?
That pipe you was trying to work around, does pull of quite easily. Just saying.
that's good to know, appreciate you watching and taking the time to share a helpful tip for anyone who might see this and save some hassle. Cheers
Might want to update your affiliate link also, its not working.
roger that, will do. Appreciate you taking the time to let me know and I'll look into that now and see if I can get them to cooperate. Cheers
Auto show us 2016
will definitely do that if we upgrade trucks and run into this issue on the newer ones. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a vid suggestion in the comments. Cheers
I wanna know how some people afford those damn side by sides. See these junkie ass trailers , trash every where with brand new side by sides parked out front along side two newer looking vehicles.
can't speak for anyone else but decades of hard work, tight budgeting, and saving cash is only way I've ever been able to save up and buy anything. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports I'm talking about the trailers out in the country with the people on disability or unemployment.. they Almost always have brand new pickup trucks and 30G can an side by side lol
