Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

Father Mike, again another bible teaching to reach out to us, like family. We can see that throughout Scripture God shows us the importance of obedience to His commands, to His way. We pray that He gives us the grace to always choose and do His Divine will which is truth, love and mercy.
Day 163, wow I have enjoyed this so much and learned even more. The Old Testament is hard to understand, but with you, Father Mike, everything falls into place. Thank you. Praying for you and all participating in these bible readings.

Day 163 in 2023….studying alongside Catechism in a Year…..absolutely love this. I have so many questions sometimes, I think, how awesome it would have been to have this in a classroom setting, where we could discuss after your teaching. Song of Songs (as it is titled in my St Joseph edition of the New American Bible 1970) reads so much more poetically and the words are more “beautiful” …..with the Psalms too….I am wondering why I have never heard of the translation you are reading from….Who translated it and how is it that it is approved? Not a criticism at all, just an observation. I find the fact that there are far too many translations in the English language very frustrating. Words matter. God bless you, Father Mike. You and everyone learning from Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year are in our prayers. ❤️🙏🏼
Keep in mind that translations that are based on the historic texts often read "blandly" in English. So this lead to English translations that, while they read more eloquently, or dramatically, they often drift from the meaning of the original text. Since the important thing is the message itself, it's best practice to read the most accurate translations. Afterwards, you can delve into other translations. If you're Catholic, the version Fr Mike is using is the most widely accepted English translation at the moment. There are others, some more entertaining in their choice of prose, or dull by their adherance to literal translation. It's part of translation itself; some things can't be literally translated and maintain the beauty of the original text. All that said, be glad you have discovered the Word of God here, and let the Truth take precedence over all else. God bless.

I’m behind so on 9/26 my reading was day 163. My daily teaching from Mother Teresa the same day was “I believe God loves the world through us - through you & me”. Fr Mike your insights that day dovetailed with Mother Teresa’s printed thoughts. You both reinforced each other with your shared inspirations. Oh yes Josiah, was this the man who gets tricked? Was he the one who was told what to do, but gets tricked and pays with his life?
I don't quite understand this! Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Once again, as we've seen before, the king doing what's evil in the sight of the Lord, allows the Israelite's to be overtaken.
Now along comes Abijah, who lays it all out for their transgressions against the Lord Almighty..really like this guy!Therefore God will bless him and Judah will once again become the chosen kingdom.
Lord help us to be faithful to you and follow your ways 🙏

The man of God in 1 Kings 13 is not named. He prophesies about Josiah. It is a confusing story, but I got that much! Blessings to you.
