Perhaps you need to tune in.
Or perhaps you are not hearing what you want to hear about what the Catholic church teaches about sex. It has been one of the main topics of the day recently. If you REALLY want to know, go read the Catechism of the Catholic Church--they speak about it in there. While there, also look up Temperance, Humility, Piety which will reveal why it is not the only thing that needs to be spoken about.

Mike is such a beautiful soul who truly loves Jesus. I have never heard the topic of idols in our life being taught by a Catholic, let alone a priest. This is so beautiful and I pray that God continues to awaken him and fill him with greater discernment and wisdom considering this topic as well as the fact that religion is not biblical- I pray this in Jesus mighty name. ❤

@@rachelpops9239 I agree and I understand where you are coming from, which is why I don’t have any social media apps or platforms other that CZcams where I can listen to sermons on Sensus fidelium, Classic Catholic Audiobooks while I work, Catholic spiritual music for meditation, morning and evening prayer when I’m on the run.
Also, I have completely stopped listening to mainstream music do to the extreme perverse lyrics and atheistic overtones, and most non Catholic movies. I simply could not pray any more without a ton of distraction.

It didn't seem evil until my eyes were opened and I finally began to understand what the Father wants from us, for us and what we really are in relationship to Him

Sometimes, it becomes almost inevitable that we begin to “negotiate” with our Lord when so very often that our earnest prayers are not answered. And in our own words and opinions, we continue to suffer in reality. We continue to read the Bible, we continue to pray our Rosary and we continue to pray for our needs and desires. Another period of time has passed again. And we continue to suffer … Hence, with the pain and suffering that we are experiencing, it seems inevitable when we begin to “negotiate” with the powerful Lord. At times, the sense of weariness just becomes overwhelming that we feel disappointed.
21:50 We treat God like a toy. In the box and out of the box, like a toy. We take Him out when it’s convenient, worship Him and then, back into the box you go! Wow! Truth there!
Salt and light have its usefulness; a good daddy would give his kid a fish when the latter requests. A good parent tries to make his children strong and courageous but as a child, it’s very natural to go to his daddy for solutions. A kid who has solutions to problems is certainly a happy kid; I often wonder why is there a need to be so strong instead of being simply happy? A lot of things to ponder over especially when we are going through difficult moments. Lord is certainly wonderful and powerful, but so often we just don’t think the same way.

Although God is always with me, He is not always at the top of my mind. If He was, I believe I would never sin. Drawing Him back to the top of my mind after sinning, is this not like using Him as a talisman? Using Him as a good luck charm to stop the sin and get back in His good graces? Maybe I heard the good father wrong, but that’s what came to mind.

It has a different priest’s praying over the air for 10 minutes.

My faith has been wavering these past few weeks. I've had subtle idols for so long and didn't see them. I want Jesus to light my life. I want to be a Disciple. But this life wears heavy and I pray for forgiveness. I'm sad in this time, because I don't feel like I'm living up to what God has for me. I'll be reflecting on this video today and appreciate your words.
I feel the same way. A bit humble and shy as I approach Fr. Mike's great light and Jesus because I feel undeserving and like I've been following so many other ways just because it's the popular thing to do or what's culturally common. I thank Fr. Mike for lighting the way for me. ❤️

I am working on a project for a men's group about this. The thesis is Intent makes idolatry. We can venerate saints and Mother Mary, however if our intent changes making them equal to God. Even if our actions are identical, our intent is what makes things idols. This is a very good explanation of this phenomenon.

This talk wasn’t at all what I thought it would be, but it was incredible. I’ve listened to it twice already. I’ve seen my life and my worship of God in a whole new light. What a blessing!
This is the story of almost my entire life and faith journey! May God reward you Fr Mike. Jesus truly loves us as we are! Makes sense since HE created us AS WE ARE! Minus sin. But in His Mercy and LOVE He keeps giving us chances through Confession. We not only should read God’s Word in the Bible (always asking the Holy Spirit to show us what’s pertinent to us because the Bible is a living document. It never changes and cannot be changed but it speaks to our hearts because it is God speaking. But we also need to speak directly to God not just in petition but constantly thanking Him (even when things go wrong because only HE knows what we need to get to Heaven), praising Him, telling Him we love Him often. Love is not a feeling though it can be. It is moreso a choice to give our heart to someone unconditionally which can mean we might get hurt sometimes. But true love does not quit in good or bad. Sit silently with Jesus in the Tabernacle when you can. Let Him speak to your heart and He will fill it with HIS LOVE! A LOVE that never ends! And you will not be able to resist it!

Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. I leave you My peace”. Probably the second truth (after John 3:16) that we Christians should embrace, pray, and believe. Only Christ, (no talisman, toy, therapist or twin) can provide peace in times of trouble. Praying for your ministry.

Yooooooo! I never read that passage in Exodus like that, I also couldn't get over the stupidity. I thought it was a form of mockery of God after they decided that they no longer believed in him, hence they told them here's your God of Israel. I did NOT think they were under the impression of doing good. Boy, do I ever relate to the "I must deny anything that's offered me multiple times to be polite" as a Portuguese individual.
This is really essential to understanding life and the question of "suffering" and how parenting sets it up or not for true success. Peace
