Fr. Mike points out the results of what happened to the kings who built idols, and what happened to the kings who tore them down. Iam in my 3rd year of BIY and my 2nd year of CIY,This is how I begin my morning every day. It took me my whole life,now 70 ,to read the Bible,with Fr.Mike and Ascension. Love this so much.Learn every day 😊❤🙏God Bless Us All
Yes, I too did the catechism last year, which lead me to do the BIY, it is very informative and I too like to start my day was this. Once and awhile, due to a shift change at work, or an appointment that makes my schedule change I'll have to do it at the end of the day, but so much like doing it first thing in the morning..gives us time for meditation all through out the day. God bless all.

When I was in high school I would sit in the library during lunch hour because I had no money for lunch. I would get the Bible and read King Solomon's songs with my Catholic girlfriend, who would take me to church with her, and who is responsible for me becoming Catholic. We felt like we were sinning reading Songs of Solomon. Racy stuff at 1967 and age 16. This chapter brought me to love the Bible because it understood how deep love can be, between God and man, a woman and a man. Song of Solomon became a stepping stone between 2,000 years, because I realized love was endless, forever, timeless, and neither death or time changed it. Jesus said that the greatest gift is love. This I believe.

I have the hardest time reading Song of Solomon bc I’ve never been loved that way. Not by mom or dad or ex husband. Gods unending love and desire for me is the hardest part of my personal faith. I teared up at your comment. I am going to give it another try.

I was 22 years old when I was baptized and confirmed. Now I'm 67 I'm going to mass every single Sunday and every holy day I hadn't missed any time since I came back to the church.
So here I am finishing up day 164. For the life of me, I still do not understand all the seemingly needless animal sacrifices. If it’s symbolic, it could be minimal.

Father Mike…for me, this has been the strongest, most convicting message yet. Much to think and pray about. May we all be focused, filled with the Holy Spirit and God’s grace to live lives that honor the Lord.❤
An important reminder about showing our faith through actions.
*Asa shows how we must take actions and show our faith towards God instead of just thinking of it or only through prayer. God loves faith and obedience more than sacrifice, but oftentimes, when we offer things to God when we are happy and victorious, then we show our trust in God.
*We must indeed identify and remove idols from our lives, anything that stands between us and God. We must put God first.
* Fr. Mike is right. When we have abundance and joy, we often forget the true God and entertain other thoughts. The story of Ahijah prophesying the demise of King Jeroboam's son shows how when everything fails, we realize the truth and go after the Lord, but then that's too late. We must realize before it's too late.
* Asa also shows that we often need to do what is right irrespective of the position of the person. Thus, the Queen was removed from the position because of her faithlessness towards God.

If we return to the Lord with all our heart, He is waiting for us. He will protect us & rescue us. Something I read once said Judah continued the sacrifices in the temple, but also worshipped all the false gods, too. The Lord God just became for them another god they worshipped. That’s worse, in my mind, than turning away completely!

Day 164! Another great day of Bible study! Thanks be to God. I think I like this CZcams version of BIAY; however, I could do without the commercials. Thanks to Fr. Mike for challenging us to ask, "Do I give my heart to the Lord?" We have so many things that can become "idols" and distract us from God's love. TV's; computers; cell phones; business; family; politics; sports; etc., etc. But there is an "App" to bring us back to focus on the Lord: PRAYER.
Thank you Father Mike for your faithful readings for over 160 days now. Praise God that I have stuck with it until now. May the Lord protect all who are listening to this podcast and keep us motivated and engaged with His word.

Oh that this country and world would turn to God in these days, he would bless us with peace.
God revealed to me that I had idols - sounds dumb now but I didn't even realize it.....AND I had them on high places. I collected Elvis and Wonder Woman memorabilia - loved them. I had a hand painted Wonder Woman poster hung on my wall, and an Elvis clock on my wall made out of a record, both high on different walls - I had collected Elvis stuff since before I was 12, I was 12 when Elvis died...so for a long time. The LORD revealed to me I idolized my collections. The clock literally fell off my wall, by itself, the face of the clock fell to the ground and the "nose" broke. Needless to say I knew I had to get rid of my collections (I believe Holy Spirit inspired), I threw everything away, with peace. I had a friend say I could have sold them and given the money to the poor, I had decided I didn't want to cause anyone else to sin, I threw everything away and I am so happy I did........ look around, if you idolize anything just throw it away. I hope this helps someone :) The Bile is alive and active for all generations!!! Sweet Jesus, thank you for everything!

I often hear people who are not Catholic say that because we have pictures of the Lord and the Blessed Mother and the Saints in our homes that they are idols. It is a duscussion that could go on forever, so I just don’t partake in the conversation. We know why we have them. It has been a common practice in my home since childhood.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

Me too! I have been taking care of a dear friend’s funeral arrangements and it has consumed my time over recent weeks.
Today 28th June 2024 is the day of the funeral, and all the planning comes to fruition. I know it will go well as I’ve given it all in to Jesus’ hands and we, his servants, will merely deliver.

Seems that people go astray when they forget God’s Love . He is ALWAYS waiting for us to let Him Love Us.

Thank you Father Mike for sharing the bible with all of us. It is a true blessing to understand the bible. It helps to bring us closer to our God. Praying for Father Mike and anyone else who is indeed of prayers.
What I find interesting about Idols is that in my experience I didn't notice I had them until they were gone. Like the Bible Alone doctrine (Sola Scriptura) I don't know if it was really an Idol, but it's something that really kept me from really committing myself to God. Once I researched where the bible came from, the Third Council of Carthage AD 397 and I realized that it was put together to be read at the Litergy, and wasn't for me to just interpret how ever I wanted to justify what I wanted really opened me up to the Will of God. Second was music. I quit playing guitar, which wasn't doing anything but frustrating me anyway I realized how much of an Idol that was for me too.
Father Mike , I believe in God, the father and the Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We will pray the night pray of the Divine office for you tonight. My wife and I will remember you in this prayer.

The one I have trouble with is during Lent fasting for a whole day that's the thing is hard for me I take medication. So a family friend of mine told me instead of fasting don't watch movies on your phone Darren Lent.
