I'm assuming that he only drank when it became acceptable for him to do so, i.e, when it did not exceed his caloric budget. Yu can still drink and reach your physique goals, though it isn't a good idea to drink in the first place...
That's a good joke, but it's also part of the problem. We associate drinking with having a good time. This is why it's so hard for people to give up alcohol. Alcohol has had a major negative effect on society - mostly our health - physically and psychologically.
It’s funny you said this. I’ve been working on myself for years now and lately I’ve been drinking more beet juice. It gave me red poop last Friday but, I thought my cancer came back.(I had kidney cancer and bloody pee was the first thing I found. They removed one kidney back in 2012 and it hasn’t been back.) the point is that scared me enough to stop cold turkey. My wife laughed at me about the beet juice but, I made a promise that I’m done. Now my favorite CZcams fitness person, the guy that made me believe in working out” just to feel better” has another message for me about drinking. You are one heck of a guy and I’ll miss ya when you’re gone. Alvita Zane
Scoobs, you're on! I am doing this for solidarity, and for a good healthy send off on your YT Retirement! Much love Scoobs. Thanks for all the videos, your workshop website, and all that you have done for us.
Scooby, Im so incredibly glad you're still around! I just saw a video you posted about 8 months ago which led me to this channel. Your site helped me so much when I started lifting in 2008, I must have read everything on your site eventually! By the time the doxing issue came I had progressed from getting info off of the internet to academia but I was still extremely angry that people had harassed you and caused you suffering. I honestly don't know if you even went away on the internet after that, I've read a million times but Im pretty sure I remember seeing videos of yours during the time frame people claim. Regardless, I'm glad I've stumbled across you again! I owe you everything, I was on a bad path in highschool but you helped me find something I excelled in and could pour my energy into. Ironically, that trouble was mostly due to alcohol, which I haven't touched in over 7 years, though I'm only 24. So, in a way of thinking, I have 7 years of sobriety thanks to you by the time you posted this video :) I'll be getting my masters in kinesiology next semester and i don't think I could overstate the role you played in that if I tried. Thank you for everything, and I wish you well in your future activities.
I'd recommend gong fu style tea brewing as a replacement for the relaxing ritual of drinking alcohol. High quality green, white and traditionally processed Taiwanese oolong teas are very relaxing on the body, whilst also sharpening the mind. You can still be productive (I find I'm even more productive), but with a general sense of calm that I find very meditative.
Congratulations on quitting. I was an alcoholic for a long time and its been almost 2 years now. Lost weight that just wouldn't go. I love your videos, always good information and positivity.
I'm thankful to the importance of alcohol in my life. It allowed me to become a proud father of 4 kids, and to meet their mothers those wild nights at the bar.
I'm going to miss YOU scoob. You've been my inspiration since 2011 you really saved my life with your knowledge and your custom meal plans. You're the best
I was just showing a friend your 10 year old and 2018 video about alcohol today. *AND YOU POSTED A NEW ONE ON THIS DAY* Ahaha 😂 Very lucky. ill be sure to share, as i dont drink for many reasons. All you say is on point ! Thanks scooby!! :)
Great work Scoobs. I hope you continue to see the benefits of cutting it out. I stopped drinking in March and I've never felt better. I used to smash 8+ beers each Friday night to relax/unwind after a long week. I realised that it was slowly eating away at all aspects of my health so I decided to cut it out completely. It turns out that drinking to relieve stress creates a positive feedback cycle, where you become worse at dealing with stress so you feel like drinking. I replaced Friday night beers with a night time run + mindfulness.
Thanks for being honest instead of trying to convince us its healthy because your take it and are in shape. I think as adults we all struggle with alcohol at some point of our lives.
I go back to the States in a couple days, and I stopped a couple days ago just so I can prepare myself to get on track and hit my goals hard.. I'm with you Scooby!! #ExtendingSoberOctober!!
I like your 1 through 4...and reason #5, another manifestation of self control/self mastery. And now you've controlled it rather than it controlling you. Good job, man! And you nailed it again...don't even have it around. The absence of it is much stronger and more reliable than willpower in the presence of it.
Scooby...been following you for a long time bro...since about 2011. You were the first fitness CZcams person in my eyes. Anyway i think its great you did this video. I hope you can do more on this subject as i think it may help many more people trying to quit like myself. I have been away from alcohol for a long time but have recently in the last year begun to drink daily. I want to stop again but i am having a hard time. This video helped a lot. Thank you!
Yeah, I quit two years ago. Best decision I've ever made. I never feel like crap when I wake up anymore, I'm full of energy throughout the day, and my workouts are epic. It feels weird the first few weeks - or even months - but after that, life without booze is amazing!
i can DEFINITELY relate !!! :D I got bored of the boring alcohol buzz, just makes you dizzy/disoriented and makes you feel wack as a bum. only i drink on holidays, maybe once or twice a year. And i feel amazing.
Hello Scooby! I use to drink alot being I was always around it. Eating late and drinking whiskey and vodka and was at my biggest in weight weighing in at 280.I stopped drinking cold turkey and had no urge to drink.i stopped eating bad foods late and I now weigh 235 ish. You are a inspiration to all of us.Thank you!
SCOOBIE, WAY TO GO! You’re gonna feel great. Once you get to the end of the year, you won’t even want a glass. You’re gonna find out just how toxic that stuff is. (on your digestive abilities etc. )
I'm kind of already doing this by accident. Haven't had alcohol for a maybe 3 months now; I tend to take long breaks because it loses its luster. But I think I'll take your challenge and keep going for the rest of the year. I like that you gave some of the practical benefits such as clarity in the evenings; I'm not great with alcohol and go into immediate 'brain fog' after just one beer so that pretty much ends things like homework or any other type of study that evening.
Everybody always says that CZcams comments are terrible but the more I read comments on videos like yours I realize that it’s more a few bad apples ruin the bunch. Scooby you have people who really look to as a role model including myself thank you for all you do!
Do you know why you drank too much? Were you using alcohol as a crutch for something negative in your life? Next time you take a drink, ask yourself "why am I doing this?".
Very inspiring and good advice Scooby. A while back I dumped all my old nasty wine into my composting bin. I drank it so infrequently, it all went bad. Everything else is next.
Good job, Scooby. I had my last drink in 2013 when I was 29. My reasoning is that I want my cheat meals to be something non poisoning, like cake, pizza or ice cream. I can also get the same/better feeling or high after a long bike ride or run.
Wow, I did the same thing six days ago and yes six days before watching this-bravo! First 3 nights after stopping I couldn’t sleep well, but now I’m fine.
You are like a midn reader, because i just started Sober November. Not a drop os alcohol for the whole of november. Maybe i will change it and staying clean for the rest if the year. Good luck for all of you with your commitments!

I wouldn't have thought you drank in the first place. I don't. I have never seen it do anything positive for anybody and I have seen it do quite a bit negative. If I were king for just one day and if I had just one thing to say, I would say dump it all the bottom of the ocean, and not in the shallow water where all the cool fish live either. I put it in the same category as soft drinks, worthless. I feel remiss that I have not said THANK YOU sir for being such a great source of entertainment and information, you have helped me a lot over the last several years. If you quit your channel you will be missed! Thank you again my friend!

Alcohol made me the laziest POS ever, destroyed my emotions and zest for life. It wrecked my liver and took over my life. I have not touched any alcohol in a year and a half. Best decision I ever made. I feel so much better mentally and physically now. I say a prayer every night for all of those folks who are struggling just like I was.
I took up homebrewing because it was a cheaper alternative than buying it then I got into it as a craft hobby. Difficult part would be going on on my weekends and being the sober one. So use to needing to have that nice beer buzz to really enjoy my social evening.
Like any addiction there may be a struggle ahead but it doesn't last as long as you think it does. I was lucky enough to skip my withdrawal period by getting pneumonia and being hospitalized. So I started my no drinking challenge in Sept. when that happened. I was actually surprised after a week in the hospital, I was free. I never bother looking at the alcohol section anymore, and I used to have 3 cans per day, 5+ for Fri and or Sat. Everything Scooby said was true. Things are just rolling smoother in my life now. Keeping that super sick post-pneumonia wastline, more money coming in, more projects getting done.I just grab a 0 cal. 0 alc. beer whenever I miss the taste and it's only a freeking dollar per can!
The thing i struggle with the most is how to have a social life without it. I live in a fairly small city where breweries are the most common social activity. I realize this may sound like an excuse but all my friends drink, I tried using the "meetup" app but these events are usually at places where people plan to drink. I don't drink alone at home but having a social life basically revolves around alcohol.
Im not drinking as much as i was 3-4 months ago but i just cant stop completely ive been taking a few shots here and there but i know i have to stop i really hope my will power as well as with gods help i will because liver cancer from drinking does scare me yet i figure a shot here and there wont hurt but one shot leads to 2 shots then leads to 3 shots then 4 then 5 and by the next day im so disappointed in myself and i dont want to live like that anymore i thank u for the challenge and accept it i will try my best to stop drinking completely for the rest of the year and so on god bless u scooby
I gave up alcohol 6 weeks ago. My bodyfat levels became reduced, my energy was far higher, my libido was increased and most importantly my recovery was massively improved from workouts. Big High five Scooby !
Good stuff Scooby appreciate you. I quit drinking around 3 weeks ago. I read a book by Alan Carr and it helped me a lot. It's amazing how much lies we believe about alcohol.
I already started November 1st. Halloween was the last night I "enjoyed myself". I'm planning on all of November but I have high hopes to continue it to New Year, and maybe beyond...
I stopped a couple of years ago, because i Thought i was wasting my time at the gym if i continued drinking during the weekend ... Thank you for your advice ... I started watching your videos since 2008... Hello from Guatemala Scooby
Scooby, noooooo! You're awesome, and I'm glad you realize that alcohol is bad (especially drinking every day), but pouring all of it out isn't sustainable! I rarely drink---like once a month, but when I do, it's usually wine and liqueurs, so you could have sent all that to me and saved a bunch of money (and glass)! P.s. your messages about health gives me hope for our future, keep it up!
I found it super easy for me to moderate my alcohol consumption, when I consider the fact that my step-dad was an alcoholic. Seeing first-hand how that disease affected him made me realize how dangerous it could be. I drink very rarely, if ever. The amount of money I've saved is put to better use than having a 'fun' night. Cheers.
Great post👌 I don't intend to give up margaritas anytime soon 🤘😄🍹...but I agree with *everything* you've shared here💯 I SUPER overeat after drinks, and subsequently wake up feeling like crap 😨 I generally enjoy cocktails on Saturdays (or Sundays) only. I typically won't do more than that ✋....unless some foxy woman wants to link up for drinks, then I'll easily cave in 😆😂 Oh well 🤷♂️
alcohol doesn't make you fat, it makes you Lean... against tables, chairs, floors

Quite welcome
Whoever collected Scooby's recycling bin the next day was probably like, "Wow, this person just had a really fun night."
he probably kept the bottles.
but maybe they didn't drink, and said stupid piss heads instead!
Man the sewer rats really had a good night 🤣
Guess you’re ending on the high note looking as shredded as ever. Ending as mega Scooby
Scooby out here trying to preemptively stop me from drinking to cope with his retirement
😂😂😂😂
I quit once, it was the longest 8 hours of my life
Pfft! Amateur. I gave up for 9 hours.
I was asleep and hungover.
I stopped drinking alcohol 30 years ago, guess that’s one reason I manage to keep visible abs at 60yrs old 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge Scooby! I can't believe that I've follow your videos for about 5 years now.
This is why I love your videos scoob, appreciate the honesty. It is hard admitting all these things surrounding addiction, dependence etc.
Thank you for being an actual good role model. I appreciate the motivation.
I haven't had a drop in a year. I feel great

Lol. Ya he should of finished them. What a waste of money
it doesn't actually cost money pouring them in the sink compared to in your mouth. if you want to argue saving money he should sell them.

Good on you Scooby! I stopped drinking during my last year in university and I do not miss it. Looking back, every high came with an even bigger low.
I'm with you on this issue ,Mr. Peter Zane 💪👍
I admit I drinked to much this year and I want to change, lets try.
Dont just try it, this is happening. Pour them out and dont think twice. You got this

Rather than going down the drain, it went into the wine cellar and served to deserving friends. :)
i only drink alcohol at new year's eve. shouldn't be that hard to go clean.
Good on you Scooby!
I'm with you Scooby, alcohol lowers test!
Cheers.
On the subject of metabolizing alcohol, the liver will metabolize alcohol before sugars and sugar before breaking down of fats .
I typically won't do more than that ✋....unless some foxy woman wants to link up for drinks, then I'll easily cave in 😆😂 Oh well 🤷♂️
I don't need the productivity. After 7 PM, I want to wind down and prepare for the next day. There's much more to life than being productive.
Glad you are happy!
