Folks who are “good” 6 days a week but then have a pizza fest that undoes their 6 days of hard work. To them, its 6 days of being good and one day of getting what “they deserve”. I truly love the message you're sending in this videos man,i wish i found you sooner,maybe i would have the body i wanted sooner and wouldn't fallen into the lies other people told me yet i believed in my desperation to get healthy... The ease of losing fat mainly depends on how committed you are to changing your lifestyle and what your target body fat % is. Age and genetics certainly do play a role, but they are not dominating factors for most people. Getting to 15%-20% is easily doable for most people. Getting to 11%-14% takes some more effort, but still doable - I’d recommend staying at this level if you’re 20-30. Getting to 10% or less you’ll have to work your ass off - you’re living on the edge between healthy and unhealthy at the upper end of this range. At the lower end you’d be going into a state of dysfunction just to say you have 6% body fat or whatever.

    The reality is you have to choose what you want out of life.
    It's fine to sacrifice your health a little, never get lean, but still lose weight -- if you are willing to close that door to yourself.
    Scooby is very fortunate to have a partner in life that both supports and follows him in his nutritional and health goals. Do you think you will find someone that good?
    The only certainty is that none of us can have a life style where we have anything. But there is definetly a kind of life style that is much more optimal for your health than what the average person goes through.
    In the very least, I would say being educated on our choices is the real number one priority. Because man, I can't even tell people I do intermittent fasting without having at least one person in the room claiming I'm crazy.

      I wonder if cutting way back on fat would help. Like... replace foods with high fat with filling starch. Less meat and more sweet potatoes, beans, brown rice etc. A lot of meats may be relatively low fat, but they are still much higher in fat than whole food starch. Starch (which makes you feel full because of high fiber) is less calorie dense than meat and dairy. Everybody is like... starch makes you fat. But that's not my experience at all. Unless you consider french fries and potato chips to be starch, which will in fact make a person fat, lol. It might be much harder to achieve a calorie surplus eating potatoes, rice and beans than it would be eating chicken, fish and lean cuts of beef. You still want to fill full, but you could feel full while ingesting fewer calories. Worth a try maybe.

    Alright truth be told I am only 20 so maybe what I’m saying is age dependent. But when I was 17 I was 6 foot 1 and chubby, the kind of kid who put on large amounts of weight eating pretty normally. So when I got into boxing I ate in a deficit and did shit tons of cardio, in about 8 months I was at about 10% body fat, problem was I got super small too, I was fighting welterweight at 6 foot 2. So, I went on a bulk, hoping to add about 10lbs of lean weight (never wanted to be big). I COULD NOT GAIN WEIGHT, I was eating about 5000 calories a day to gain 1lb a week, on 10-12 hours of cardio a week (not something I could previously do). I genuinely believe that not only does cardio burn calories so you can eat more but that it actually significantly changes the was your body handles food. Anecdotal of course but it’s my opinion.

    you oughta research Ketogenic with Intermittent fasting. I'm 46 years old - ripped year round, and gaining muscle. Keto fixes a lot of the challenges for the "caloric deficit bodybuilding diet." I can talk on this subject for hours so I won't type a lot here. I noticed a lot of the comments below are by tourists stating that you "need to have fat to gain muscle." They're fitness tourists. Research nutrient partitioning - Keto forces nutrient partitioning - which is actually the bottom-line secret sauce.

    • @gamertom99
      @gamertom99 Před 5 lety

      “Forces nutrient partitioning” doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense considering that you are literally always experiencing nutrient partitioning after you eat something unless you have an insulin problem or something. Nutrient partitioning just means your macros go somewhere to your body. “Forcing” that would imply that we aren’t already doing that but it’s not like you eat a whole pizza and it does nothing to your body like it does go somewhere.

    • @iron-brigade
      @iron-brigade Před 5 lety

      @@gamertom99 What I meant is that you can determine the partitioning - Keto forces the partitioning of less calories to fat and more calories to energy and muscle. It's how nutrients are partitioning from your diet that causes the difference between fat and lean physiques. The challenge is that the process to change your metabolic partitioning is difficult for a few weeks of time so most people either won't go through it or remain skeptical.

    Losing fat is hard. I had to count calories and watch my macros, keep protein high and lift heavy. I had to be patient and not rush my fat loss. I sometimes hit fat loss plateaus and have to continually lower my calories. You feel hungry, your not as strong and you feel small. It’s hard.

    • @ABQSentinel
      @ABQSentinel Před 5 lety +2

      Yeah, my experience is very similar. I was morbidly obese and decided it was time to finally do something about it. I tried a restrictive diet (lost weight, but couldn't maintain it), tried weight lifting (I got a lot stronger, but didn't really lose any fat), and I tried cardio. Finally, last year, I put all three together--I put myself on a diet which has me at a 500 calorie per day deficit, I do 10 minutes of cardio to warm up, 45 minutes of weight lifting, and then finish off with 35 minutes of cardio. That produces pretty consistent weight loss, but it takes a LOT of work and commitment. Like you said, you feel hungry and you feel like you should be stronger for all the work you're putting in. As you say, it's hard!

    • @BendApparatus
      @BendApparatus Před 5 lety +1

      "you feel hungry, your not as strong" this is one of the main reasons most guys can't lose BF. Tying your physical exertion to hunger is in your head. Your body has plenty of glucose storage between your muscles and liver for at least a 1 hour intense training session. Once your body gets over this "I'm hungry so I'm weak belief you can go longer.
      "you feel small" there is an old gym rat saying that goes like this...
      "The skinny guy's are afraid of overeating, because they're afraid of getting fat...so they never grow.
      The fat guys are afraid of "getting small" so they always overeat...and never get lean.

    I had six pack abs in my 20's while in the military. I've also weightlifted most of my life. I do cardio 20 minutes a day, then lift for another 45. I still lift heavy even though I'm now in my mid-40's. I don't have six pack abs anymore. I'm not fat either, far from it, but I'm not concerned with being able to see complete ab definition. I'm also easily able to spot the steroid users at my gym. I also, sadly, watch a lot of people come in, that need to be in the gym regularly, that are new and do it for a month, maybe two, only to never return. Sometimes I watch their routine and am left shaking my head. Some have personal trainers, but I often see them watching the pretty women do their thing instead of actually helping their paying client.
