to anyone out there with a VX-VY ecotec you can buy the insulator from mace engineering, they make them for all ecotec's.

I always remove the lining out of my commodores just cause all it does is reduce the temp of the bonnet, so would it still hit or would I still need a bonnet bulge or cawl ?

    Thanks for posting.
we are attempting to replace injectors.
If all bolts and hoses are clear of the alloy body then it and fuel rail should lift off but it's being stubborn.

For those interested the solution was the careful application/use of a crow bar XD ..

When I put mine on my VX I screwed up big time too , but it has now been sorted , I certainly recommend the insulator , but be careful when you reseat the injectors as they can be a bugger to put back in place , that is where I was tripped up and ended up with a monumental fuel leak from the back left injector, Bart from Mace tells me that a bit of Vaseline will help to reseat them .

hi mate, what does this spacer helps with ? does it increase the performance ?

There wouldn’t be much kilowatt increase. You would more do this modification for throttle response

Mace engineering does the vx ecotec now. They recommend 25 mm on the intake runners. And 12mm on plenum spacing? Intake runners for a tunnel ram effect on N/A engine and 12mm for more volume on plenum. Pus heat issue.( of course) 69 mm throttle body as well. How much difference can you feel? As in literally pulls harder? If I can feel the difference? ( no dyno) then I'm happy! Also mace engineering do a pcm for the vx ecotec. You can't do the memcal alone like on VT. You have to buy a reflashed unit. I've been looking into it. Also the 4L60E Tranny is controlled by the PCM. A reflashed unit gives better shift pattern apparently tighter is the claim. Cheers.

Did you bad installing job with the spacers make it not run? I think so

Nice walkthrough. It's always helpful to see someone actually doing it, not just following a manual. I'm thinking about getting these for my vt.
Did you flush the oil before starting this job, or should it be okay to leave it? Did the plenum cover hit the bonnet after both the spacers were on?

How many kw would you get out of this ?

@pussytastegood1 Thats a good tip , as i was thinking of getting the manifold insulator for my VX as well , I am hoping that Mace engineering are aware of the problem . I have found that plenum spacer gives a bit more torque as well , mine also has a 69mm throttle body and a SS Growler induction kit .

Yeah seen that was gonna say it but seen you got too it first my next Ecotec I'm going all out 25mm top and bottom vs fuel rail and magna injectors 69mm throt and mace CAI and EGR delete

@pussytastegood1 Goes well , I have a 2.5 inch cat back system on mine and am soon to fit headers , as I am in New Zealand , some of the parts had to be sent over from Australia ie the throttle body and plenum spacer . , as there are no stockists of V6 commodore preformance parts in NZ though lots of V8 parts available . .
