    Hey mate just a heads up for the hose that keeps breaking at 3:35, I had the same problem and I just went to super cheap and bought a piece of hose exactly the same for less than $5 for 50cm of it. Good content btw keep it up👍

    Hi. Love your video. I am currently undertaking the installation of my Holden ute Commodore 3.8L inlet manifold gasket. I have purchased both an NKS and a Mace engineering gasket set which you recommend. I was wondering why no sealant/gasket goo is applied during installation. Would you recommend me doing so? Also the tablets (G.M.) that are added to the radiator coolant. Are they necessary?

    • @mwoods2062
      @mwoods2062  Před rokem

      Hi Angus, I put a bit of sealer in each corner of the gasket where the two small rubber ones meet the inlet gasket. If you're inlet manifold is corroded I don't think putting a bit of sealer on it would hurt. I don't know anything about the tablets but once again it can't hurt. Thanks very much for your comments and I hope the install goes well.

    Hello mate that fitting on the manifold that has a hose to the throttle body, what is it and what does it do?

    • @mwoods2062
      @mwoods2062  Před rokem

      Hi, it is for crankcase ventilation, if you put a catch can on your car that's where you connect it to.

  • @bobbyboy7480

    Mate, do you have cruise control on your car? If so how did you disconnect the cable where it joins the throttle body? I can get the accelerator cable popped off but not the cruise control cable. Thanks!

      Sorry Bobby, disregard the last message. I thought you were referring to another video. The cable your talking about with the black plastic end you have to push it back towards the engine and it will slide out.

    If you cant get the metal ones from MACE or ZZP then coat these plastic ones with Hylomar Spray. This will not affect the squishing of the gasket and will seal when the aluminium intake moves against the cast iron heads.

    • @mwoods2062
      @mwoods2062  Před 2 lety

    • @mwoods2062
      @mwoods2062  Před 2 lety

      I would say none, any help they get to seal them won't hurt. Mine have been good since I did them no problems. I recon if the surfaces your sealing are good and clean you won't have any dramas.

    • @amounifnd
      @amounifnd Před 8 měsíci

      @@mwoods2062 The reason these fail is nothing to so with sealing surface but the gasket shearing between the cast iron block and aluminium intake. GM is the states stopped using these and did a service release. In Australia I think Holden loved it as people had to bring their cars back every 50 thousand or so. The Felpro or GM Metal ones are really the only way to go.
      The corners also need a small blob before dropping the gaskets on then another once the end pieces are on. Even better is to leave out the end pieces all together and tun a thick bead along each side like they do on LS1. This avoids any future air or oil leaks.

      If you disconnect the wiring while the car is running and it gets worse that means the injector is ok. If you disconnect the wiring while the engine is running and it makes no difference then that is the cylinder with the problem.
