Can u show us how to do a new key on the last scanner?
OK, I'll see what I can do
Thanks.
I’ve told myself to get OEM next time.
Where's part 2
Sorry mate, it was that long ago I can't remember what I did. Try this video. czcams.com/video/L5uW7anK08g/video.html
There must be lots of commodores out there ,about this year model that have seat issues. This video could help a lot of people ( including me) . Thanks for sharing.
Yep I think you're spot on there. I've done three of mine so far.
Cheers for that bro normally my seat sitting in the driveway for the cat or the dog to sleep on🤣👌🏼
Thanks for doing this one. This is the exact job that I had planned on my VY Storm. The original storm seats were both totally collapsed and split so I swapped in some better executive sedan seats. However the drivers seat still has the same damage that your one had ( but worse) My plan was to chase down a good executive passenger seat for a usable back! Thanks again for making that just a bit easier now! ;)
Thanks for commenting. I didn't think anyone would be interested. I did figure out that the airbag can't be swapped you have to use the correct side bag.
Did it leak?? I have just done the exact same thing as you, used the old o ring on the new pump because the new one was too big.
No, I haven't had any leaks
Just found your channel. I'm locked in mate. Doing it to my vz
Thanks for watching. I hope it helps
Hey mate i have same issue, mechanic wants to charge me a bit to get it fixed. Im going to pick up the new slip ring tomorrow $148 then i watched your video, is it really that easy to install it? If so, I'm going to do it myself aha but take my time putting it back on the ignition barrel. My battery also is under 11.87V when idling my fuel consumption is crap, also a new battery would help do you recommend?
The slipring is simple to install. You need at least 13volts at idle minimum so it sounds like an alternator.
@@mwoods2062 okay to easy I'll see how my confidence is might give it a go my self. Well my battery is kinda dying anyways it's showing red not much green so I'm guessing it's the battery since it's been sitting in someone's driveway then it's been sitting at the car yard I brought it from, so the battery might be due for a change over. The alternator seems to be all good.
@@Ronstreams20 yep but if you measured the voltage at idle your alternator should put out more than 11 volts
@@mwoods2062 yeah I noticed on the picture I took of the RAA guys diagnostics tool, of the 3 error codes for the slip ring plus I saw in the corner of the picture the battery was sitting 11.87V I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually on idle it was just switched on electronics my apologies. So hopefully it's not the alternator.
Hey mate I just got the slip ring installed... Well sort of.. the bastard won't slip back on, no pun intended... The old bastard fell apart so I couldn't use it to see which way it goes. I've sat 2 hours trying to do it, seriously about to loose it. Mechanics won't tell me jack all because they're just how they're.
Thanks for the insight into this job mate 👍 much appreciated 👏
No problem, thankyou for the comment.
My son and I are servicing his Vz commodore. We're watching many of your videos on how not to mess up. Could you use a trolley jack with a block of wood to hold the pan up in a level position?
Hi, yes you could but if you drain all the oil out it really isn't necessary.
I saw a video of a bloke using a small dob of super glue in multiple spots to hold the gasket in place for fitting. Superglue dries hard and cork is soft. So it seems that that approach would be dodgy perhaps. Another fella uses 250 ml of an additive which may help the gearbox oil do its thing. What are your thoughts on doing such things. Thx
Another method is to use grease
Having the car on an angle, does it really matter much in regard to the oil level when refilling? I gather you’ve done it loads of times without an issue. Also that’s a V6 with the 5L40e?
Yes, it's an ly7 v6 5l40e and yes I think the car should be level as you don't want to overfil.
I’d love to see you give the motor a refresh.
It might be a while yet still collecting parts.
Very helpful , thanks
how are you meant to get to the fuel pump on a vy sedan?
I have never done one but you have to drop the tank.
Fuck I ripped that part off
Awesome job mate from Adelaide
Thanks mate.
Also, can ou do a video of change the boots on the rack. thanks
Hi, yes if I ever have to do them I will film it.
Love your video. but the reverse image was confusing. I've never done this before. I have a 2005 VZ Commodore Lumina. Can you add or list the types of grease you used for the caliper bolts and the metal clips etc. pls. is it important to tighten all the bolts to a specific torque? thx. mark
Hi, the grease is bendigo brake grease and the bolt for the slides you just nip them up tight. There probably is a torque setting but I just do them up tight never had a problem.
How did u go cleaning the engine
I used one of those green dishwasher scrubbing pads and brake cleaner
@@mwoods2062 cheers man how did u go getting all the shit out of the engine just rags or
Yes just rags, if it is lose stuff you can use a vacuum
brand is delphi
vehicle is vy 3.8lt
hi mate ,i fitted a brand new genuine unit and adhered to fitting requirements(thermal grease)unit lasted one to two weeks, fitted old unit and still running good a year later.
Yep I did the same. You would think if you pay the money for a good part I might last as long as the original, but no.
@@mwoods2062 100% the supplier gave me another new replacement DELPHI ,with return of failed unit but it’s still in box on shelf , I’m currently working on 2001 vx sedan 3.8 that,s duel fuel and starts but stops running as if shut of by key right now , take care .
Just about to plug in i400 Vident
I would probably suggest masking up with a chemical mask when doing these .. I realise you need to talk .. however I hear what you are saying I have replaced quite a fuel filters I end up getting high quite a few times
It looks like you have your car on a milk crate shurely not!
No only the exhaust is resting on the crate.
Its a bit disappointing watching a grown man working on the ground like a caveman ( get a bench with a vice)
Repack where the rubber has split with sika polyurethane filler/ glue from bunnings it’s 32 dollars a tube but works well. I did this as a quick temp fix and it has lasted 2 years. My centre bearing was in good condition.
That probably would have been a lot easier.
Kill a T-shirt, old boy 😁👌
If have a ve commodore with controll arms that look like this. The nut that on the bolt that goes through the fat end that goes onto the car body. Well the nut is welded on. You need to undo the bolt. I found out the hard way 🤷 2:45 2:48
🎉😊thanks mate. Perfect teacher.
That bloke has an excellent channel, he makes it look easier than it really is. This is one of the better vids I have seen up close on how to remove. Yes they are really painful. The tools do work, but sometimes the spring can corrode up a lil. Its that pulling back of the tool and line then trying to twist off which makes it tricky. I seen some people just cut all these lines and replace with hose clamps. But these fittings are safer. Duct tape over the tabs and vice grips can free up some of the hands. Holden could of also found a better spot to put it. Again, great video.
Aren't they LSD with the tag ?
No the tag is just for the oil. Lsd label is on the side with the ratio.
Interesting vid. We don't see the DFI or paste go in and 90% seeing the coils go in. The rubbers are the spares of what you see in your module. On old ones these end up melting. Kepe up the good work.
Just did this on mine, the replacement white clips didnt fit and the old ones were broken. The Sukura filter comes with the correct black clips but be warned they are fragile.. Tempted to modify to hose and hose clamps!
Thanks for the lesson.
love how you shared everything.... even the struggles of a stubborn bolt because thats exactly what ill encounter trying this myself thanks for the help.
Glad you liked it. A lot of my jobs are struggles.
How to remove handbrake cable???
You have to lever the arm the cable connects to forward with a screwdriver and pull the cable out a bit and it will come off
Great vid mate...a few funny lines.....love your content and keep them coming........have you got any suspension work coming up???
Hi, thanks again for your comments. Sorry no suspension work coming up. I've had enough after the rear end of the ute.
Could you do a video on changing out the lifters in the future
Hi, I will do if I ever need to do it.
the problem is,that there is a little 'nub' underneath the top, which holds on to the rubber ring...either file it off or have another person use a strong piece of flat wood against the top lip pushing down so it will seal and you can get the circlip on.The Original part does not have the 'nub' underneath which makes it completely flat and easier to fit.Always use Genuine Holden Parts.
Thankyou very much for that information. I couldn't work out why the Goss pump was so hard to get in. Thanks again.
Ok does the manuals you have got pin out for ecu for VY VZ
I'll check and get back to you
Hi Leigh, sorry I haven't forgotten just been a bit busy. I will try today.
Thanks for looking cheers
Ve 2009 3.6 ecu pin out locations please Cheers
Hi again, sorry I would only have VY or VZ
good vid any info on commadore wiring diagrams cheers leigh
Hi, the only wiring diagrams I have are in my workshop manual. Which one do you need I'll see if I have it.
Thanks mate. Got a 5L VT SS I want to do these on, and when I seen how little room there is on the drivers side, needed to see a video like yours. 😁
The main problem with the Alloytec, given their propensity to use oil, was the factory service interval of 15K km; which is waaay too high, even for synthetic oil and particularly for stop-start, short distance city driving. Change the oil on one of these Ecotecs that have done 15K km or so & you'll usually see big gloops of sludge plopping out of the oil-pan drain hole; look on the underside of the oil filler-cap and there'll usually be a build-up of sludge (often milky) on it. Any modern high-interference engine with twin overhead chain-driven camshafts and VVT cam phasers (particularly where it also has a poorly-designed PCV system resulting in poor crankcase ventilation and a tendency to build sludge deposits) needs clean, young oil at all times in order to function properly, otherwise things will go horribly wrong. I religiously change the oil on all my engines (pushrod or OHC, doesn't matter) at 6K km and have never had an issue related to sludging or oil starvation.
Thankyou very much for your comments. I agree 100 percent. I do the same every 5000kms and have never had a problem.
Good video cheers, can confirm this videos accurate for VX series 2 aswell!
What springs do you have in the front?
Hi mate, just lowered King springs
@mwoods2062 cheers for the reply mate.
Sorry to be a bother again when you finished fitting the balancer you forgot to check the clearance with a feeler gauge between the balancer vanes & CAS. Oh and on the belt fitting we all got caught trying to work the puzzle on how it goes on by guessing.🧐
Can you explain this clearance needed please
It's just the clearance between the fins on the harmonic balancer and the crank angle sensor. I've done three cars and never checked it with no problems.
