hi mate ,i fitted a brand new genuine unit and adhered to fitting requirements(thermal grease)unit lasted one to two weeks, fitted old unit and still running good a year later.
@@mwoods2062 100% the supplier gave me another new replacement DELPHI ,with return of failed unit but it’s still in box on shelf , I’m currently working on 2001 vx sedan 3.8 that,s duel fuel and starts but stops running as if shut of by key right now , take care .
I have a VY with a slight miss around idle. I changed the leads and plugs. No fix. I bought a set of coils and a Delphi DFI . In the fitting instructions for the DFI they say to apply a thin film of white thermal grease ( supplied) to bottom of module. Module life will be significantly reduced if thermal grease omitted. That worried me a bit when I read that. Is this brand DFI so sensitive?? I haven't fitted it yet for that doubt. Are genuine ones available? It wasn't cheap , but neither is a breakdown.
The one you have should be fine. Guess what I didn't do and look what happened. I would follow the instructions as thermal grease will help keep the heat out. I will be doing the same when I get a new one
@@mwoods2062 I just had a look at your video where u fitted the coils and DFI . That was 2 years ago. You did mention about the thermal grease but the thing still only lasted 2 years. You videos are very helpful, thank you.
Hi Daniel, I wish I knew. I know they are prone to fail and I have heard of near new ones failing but I don't think there is anything wrong with my car but I am carrying a spare.
brand is delphi

Yep I did the same. You would think if you pay the money for a good part I might last as long as the original, but no.

@@Hazzy238 thanks for your comments, yes but two years is pretty crap for the money they cost.
