Man was a beast long before he was half zombie.
It’s really awesome. And it’s one of the sad reasons that Attack On Titan got more love and attention than this show. They were both so similar in both tone and they were animated by the same studio. Attack on Titan just got more hype vs Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

He’s actually immune because blood travels way too fast. Meaning it would’ve reached his brain within a matter of seconds meeting either. It’s a parasite meaning his work makes sense or he’s just immune.
From what I understood it is a curse that acts like a parasite as it spreads through the body transforming it. When he used the machine it made his body tight enough that the light expansion of the curse (as it heats up the body) stopped it from getting to his brain. Witch is why he does turn but has full control

A parasite has a time limit to spread and settle before it dies. If it spread through tissue it would just continue the second he turned off the metal thing

I love this anime sm and when it came out all yall did was hating on it and comparing it to AOT
Edit: as you all can see (my name or icon) I also know AOT, it's my favorite anime. And I agree with all of you, but sadly at least in the latin american side, so many compared it so much to AOT that many didn't even give it a chance because they tagged it as a copy, but I recommend Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress! It's so underrated, the visuals and the story are peak .
