    You're meant to use thread locker on the bolts to stop them vibrating loose since they aren't very tight

      @Benny Hutch The ones that mount the manifold to the heads.

    • @grassyfieldz4578
      @grassyfieldz4578 Před 2 lety

      @Benny Hutch My advice would be to check where the gasket seals around the ports on the heads aswell as the manifold and to make sure surface is clean and smooth otherwise new gasket wont seal. Mine had a thin layer of rust buildup around the ports on the head so i just sanded it down until it was level and smooth. Put some moist paper towel in ports to stop rust falling in

      I used a razer blade to get the bulk of the gunk off with a vaccume to clean at the same time, then some 800 grit sand paper i had laying around, but make sure you have rags down in the areas where you dont want stuff to get down in 😉

      @snrautoworx2840  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks mate for the comment, yeah the gaskest came as a kit when i did it, if not youll need the inlet manifold gasket, the silicon i uses was just an oil ATV Gasket Silent, and to clean up the surfaces i used a vacc to suck up the gunk as i scraped it with a razer blade then wipe with a rag with thinners or wax and grease remover to clean it.

    I'm about to do this but the gasket kits both have different bottom plenum gaskets, and now I'm more confused, at 1:43 on the video i can see the o shaped gaskets but a 6:23 its clean no gaskets?

    • @snrautoworx2840
      @snrautoworx2840  Před 5 lety +1

      Because i had a spare inlet manifold which was already cleaned which was the older style that use the thin metal gasket which are from VR to VS Ecotec's the orig inlet i took off the car was the later style with the rubber gasket which are from VT onwards i think, I could be wrong.
      Hope this helps you understand why you see two different styled gasket set-ups

    • @snrautoworx2840
      @snrautoworx2840  Před 3 lety +1

      The only place i use a liquid sealant was on the corners od the head where it meet the block so it gets the best seal coz its not always perfectly flat and linded up there, and on the thermostat housing around the gasket. Hope this helps answer your question mate

    Hey mate just a question or two,
    I’m at the stage where everything is apart and cleaned ready to go back together,
    With the gasket goo / sealer do I put it ontop of gaskets on the corners as well as the bottom?
    Also what NM / Foot Pounds do the manifold bolts have to be torqued to and would the plenum bolts be the same or does it not matter?
