    Top video mate. Good explanation of things. Just did a rebuild on a VY V6 and now I've got some coolant leaking out the rear main cover down out the bottom of the bellhousing. You offered to make a video if we asked...wanna make a vid of removing the driveshaft, auto trans, rear cover, installing new cover and how to align the damn thing properly without the installation tool which costs almost $300... just kidding :-) Keep the vids coming, they're awesome. Great to see Aussies out there showing how it's done!

    i forgot to mension mine is a vx & what i can tell compatred to yours my overflow bottle is where your windscreen wiper bottle is, i dont hav a bottle on the right near the the strut well.

  • @quicksilver462
    @quicksilver462 Před 2 lety +1

    For removing the crust from the overflow bottle, remove the jug from the car and take a handful of "bb's" (bb gun type) and drop them in the overflow bottle with a little "simple green" and water, shake real good until clean enough for you, a real dirty jug, may have to repeat.

    Hey mate thanks for that video, I'm new to this I have VT 99 Commodore i had the water pump replaced professionally but it now over heats I noticed the radiator fan doesn't turn on when it would and did every time before. My question is can I fix this myself and what should I look for first?
    Cheers

    I just replace my rad and water pump when I do a whole block flush..... the heater core never gets used in mine it's blocked off

  • @NicholasHatala
    @NicholasHatala Před 7 lety +1

    So when it comes to water pressure, can I just use my garden hose pressure on as high as it goes for everything other than the heater core, or are there any other parts are delecate?

    • @wickedxe
      @wickedxe  Před 7 lety

      pretty much. I never have problems with the heater core since The garden hose is only pushed in/against the heater hose (I normally only remove the heater hoses from the engine not the heater core) thus it will not really build lots of pressure before it sprays you with cold water; that being said however if the heater core is fitted to a car that has not run coolant for a long while and it is rotten/badly clogged then it does pay to be careful, the point is the heater core should flow enough that it doesn't build any pressure. just start gently( water pressure in your location may be a lot higher than in Benalla, vic where I live so use your discretion). full blast when flushing the radiator/block etc.

      That is a GMH part, I got it with a VS before they were worth anything. This intake is from a VS that was fitted with an L67 supercharged V6 but I have heard that that they were also fitted to SS V8's

    How do I get the air out of my vt radiator it keeps on blowing out the coolant bottle when it get hot

    • @wickedxe
      @wickedxe  Před 6 lety

      I would replace the radiator cap a t/stat. I use a 2 litre coke bottle with electrical tape wrapped around the threads of the bottle so it's a tight fit; stuff it into the radiator filler neck and unscrew the bleed nipple. Fill the coke bottle (funnel) until coolant comes out the bleeder, start the engine and fill the funnel until a steady stream of coolant comes out of the bleeder with no air bubbles. You might have to close the bleeder and rev the engine to get the last traces of air come out. Keep the funnel at least 1/3 full so no air get's in while you're bleeding it

    Quality jubilee clamps/terry clamps work fine for most things but "Quality" is the bit people ignore, also correct fitting hoses make a difference.
