Cheers Shaun, you're getting good at thisd geeky stuff :)
Great video thanks. Really helped me add my Sena and Cardo units together.
You're welcome, glad it helped👍
Shaun, another feature I'd really like, as well as being able to simply delete a unit from a pack/DMC group, would be to assign an extra admin user to manage the group!! (I'll bet they won't be able to do this as it's not designed into the protocol...). Would be really handy for my group though! (just in case you manage to grab Cardo's ear... ;) )
Interesting, just got the Cardo freedom 4 plus mainly for the link up to the sat nav, but due to that Covid thing not had chance to try
Also, forgot to mention, make sure you choose UK English for the language in the app, if you speak"British English", otherwise the voice recognition barely works... (and remember not to shout (which can be hard to remember), you have to speak at normal volume for the recognition to work, even when the wind noise outside is deafening! ;) )
Yeah that seems to work well! Do you guys have the same issue with the radio randomly turning on?
@@thelikeablerider8800 It has happened, extremely occasionally... I doubt it could be thinking it heard you say "hey Cardo, Radio on", so I presume it's a bug... Other extremely rare bugs I've found (say once every 2000 miles/7 whole days of riding) are, it goes full volume and stops responding (a two-fingered reboot fixes) - the other is you can hear everybody else, but they can no longer hear you - same two fingered reboot fixes. Both so rare that it doesn't bother me much... :) (I'm still on Firmware 5.2, don't feel like changing yet, based on the comments online about 5.7....)
Thank you for sharing. One suggestion, how about setting it up to share music with your pinion?
How you finding the JBL speakers worth going to black edition for the 45 size?
Headset says 'mobile one connected' phone's bluetooth page says Packtalk Bold 'active' yet if I open the Cardo connect app I get No unit connected and Please connect your Cardo unit to your mobile phone. Any thoughts?
Or find the manual of this connect cardo ??
Great series of videos of much help mate , have you fitted the XT Garmin yet ,if so I don’t suppose you have had a chance to use it out yet ? ,stay safe bud .
Thanks Dale!
Yes the XT is all mounted, but haven't been able to get out with it as yet😩
Thanks for a very helpful series of vids Shaun. I find the volume of the Cardo unit itself barely audible whilst the volume of everything else is fine. Any ideas?
Strange one, mine can be too loud at times! do you have the JBL speakers?
@@thelikeablerider8800 Yes - Packtalk Black with JBL Spkrs - BUT - I had to replace them with a slimmer JBL speaker because there wasn’t enough room in the Helmet ( Arai Chaser ) it was agony!
There is something weird going on because sometimes the overall volume is deafening and at other times it’s barely audible. However, the one thing that is consistent is the very low volume of the Cardo unit itself.
I’m wondering if there is a software conflict between Cardo and BMW TFT but the bottom line is that, so far, I’m not impressed.
Good vid. Can you show the audio multitasking in Bluetooth mode. Having difficulty with this one.
That's something I haven't used and the manual sucks on the matter!! I keep this turned off, as I don't understand it and I guess therefore, don't need it (am always in DMC, so not sure what this is for/when etc...). Shaun, perhaps you can get Cardo to explain it to you, and then you can do a vid and explain it to us? :)
@@mattmutane5502 Yeah, i'm always on DMC even though it is mainly myself and wife both with cardo's. However, some of my club only have bluetooth comms units and therefore wondered if it was easier to use bluetooth to connect to them rather than DMC and "bridge" them in, but then would also be able to listen to music...Shaun, any experience of this?
@@JockBiker My experience is, beyond three units on Bluetooth, it all falls apart and is extremely unreliable! DMC just works, from 2-15 units the same! You can bridge into the DMC, one BT unit per Packtalk, so either way, without everyone being on a Packtalk (or everyone being on a newer Sena "mesh" unit), the options are limited. My group decided to go Packtalk as everyone who had had a Sena was fed up with them, and two people in the group already had Packtalks, so it was an easy choice to make! (most of us came from wired Autocom at that time).
@@JockBiker I've done both. Simply, with everyone on BT, you can get it working (sometimes) with up to three of you, beyond that, it tends to fall apart. With DMC, you can bridge into the DMC, one Bluetooth connection per Packtalk unit. This can also be hit and miss, depending on the BT unit, but it can work well enough to make do.
Nice vid Shaun :) I am certain that I have removed a unit from a pack before, but looking again just now, you don't seem to be able to do it as an admin. So, I am certain I have done it, so it must be that the non-admin "deletee" deletes themselves from the group (ideally using the app on their phone), at their end, and that removes them from the pack. It seems that the admin can't do it. I have 11 in my pack, so I don't know what happens when the pack is full and you want to add more. Hopefully you get the option to kick someone out to add someone else in (though I suspect Cardo might force you to create a new Pack at that point, switch to that, and start again). It's not often I need to add anyone though, and 14 others is a pretty good number of riders/units. There is no problem having many groups with subsets of sets of units either, especially if you have completely separate sets of groups you ride with. The only gotcha I know of is, don't have multiple groups with the exact same set of riders/units in them as that freaks the units out and it throws a wobbly...!!
Seems you can leave a group, but youd need that rider to be present to do it. I'd like to be able to delete users that are no longer about. Seems I can only remove the entire group, still not a big issue but would be great to be able to quicker remove riders from an existing group.
I bet that gets a bit busy sometimes 😂👍
@@alanoswin8827 I'm not sure I'd want to be connected to that many riders! 5 at the most for me😂
@@thelikeablerider8800 I ain't got that many friends 😂😂😂
@@alanoswin8827 me neither😂😂🤦♂️
Any idea why when chatting to a mate via DMC sometimes the radio will randomly come on. Does it on both of our units
Mine does the same! Seems to be a glitch which I'm sure can be sorted with a firmware update.
@@thelikeablerider8800 yeah hopefully will be sorted in next update. Part from that it's awesome happy with mine. Was awesome on trip through Alps to Croatia
It is an awesome unit, very happy thus far👍
The only issue i find with the radio is there is no manual tune so trying to find radio stations can be a faf
Do you mean while riding? You can use the app to manually tune the radio by dragging the tuning bar right or left. This may not be easy when in the road.
As a group of 3 sena and 1 cardo we can never sll get connected, we have done the videos written it down then spent over an hour getting nowhere, any chance you could cover this in another video, love the vids, hope you got the Ktoom sorted.
You as the Cardo user need to connect to one Sena user via the Cardo gateway. The guys using the Sena's need to setup their bluetooth intercom group, and make it live. All you need to do the is to call the Sena you're connected to, or he calls you, and you should be added to the group.
@@thelikeablerider8800 many thanks sounds easy enough.
Let me know how you get on Alan👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 after lockdown 😥
How do you add a sc2 to the edge. Is it through mesh or Bluetooth
czcams.com/video/seOySwhiTPs/video.html
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks but I can’t find the gateway mode on the edge
Can I add the sc2 from the cardo app ? Is it via Bluetooth or mesh. I was under the impression as they were both mesh we could .
@@windsurfingfins if the unit in the SC2 is from cardo then you can mesh together, if not then you have to intercom via Bluetooth. If you watch the video in the link I sent you, it explains how to put you Cardo into "gateway" mode, for pairing to a non cardo unit.
Think I have done it. We are both on rider b.
I have found it quite annoying that you can't remove one user. Another very informative video pal
Let's hope a firmware update will sort that👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 Fingers crossed.
Anyone else have trouble getting the packtalk bold clicked into it's mount?
What helmet to you have? Some helmets bend the mount more than others, which can make it harder to click into place.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Hi I have a Hjc Fg St, I was intending to swap the unit between 2 helmets so I bought a second helmet kit,
but the unit is so difficult to fit that I will just have to leave it on one helmet and charge on the helmet. very disappointed,
I had a cheapish Chinese unit before that had a far better mounting system.
very infomative, my only criticism is not being able to see your hands and which buttons you were tapping whilst demonstrating, awful lot of rewinding went off here ;)
.. other than that thank you.
Thank you Peter, your points noted👍
Cheers, why oh why don't Cardo and Sena scour the internet and watch all the videos relating to their systems, and take on board peoples gripes and moans and do something about them! I'm sure a firmware update would sort out most of them.
Cardo have great customer service! I've pasted the issues on, so I'm sure it'll be sorted in a firmware update👍
