  • Next into The Den is scientist Marc Wileman or ‘Mad Marc'. Wileman is the founder of Sublime Science, a business that makes science “awesome” for primary school-age children across the country with science parties, workshops, shows, and more. He’s seeking £50,000 in return for a 10% equity stake.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Not true, he correctly valued the dragons. He had capped out at a certain size, the company no doubt needed redesigning to expand further. Dragons are particularly adept at expanding businesses, and will easily bring 10% more value with their connections and contracts. He is looking to quadruple the business at least.

If you want to get some offers from the dragons, it's pretty simple...
Just make sure to wear a nice looking suit and once you are in front of them you need to drop your pants. They will immediately be impressed by your big balls and should get incredibly excited. After that, throw them a few insults to insure your superiority. Now you can do your presentation normally and at the end I guarantee you they'll fight each other to give you their money. Sharktank USA has an edge over DD though in terms of negotiation dynamic that can take place between entrepreneurs and investors, which is much more realistic in what happens when entrepreneurs are going for investment. Also, "the sharks" seem to be willing to take a punt on things that "the dragons" would pass on. I prefer on DD that they don't push entrepreneurs to make a decision before other dragons have had a chance to make an offer, or say they will pull their offer if they don't say yes on the spot. Investment negotiations never happen like that in the real world.

Awesome pitch, really cool business, a sensible valuation recognising his want for a dragon rather than just cash and a great set of offers.
From the offers on the table I would also have been inclined to accept Nick and Sarah's offer also. The expertise Sarah has in licencing and franchising as well as Nick's knowledge of the online markets. To get both of them on board for just 10% equity is an absolute steal.

Very smart deduction. It would in his case be better of the options to have both of them with their contacts and connections 2 help him expand while keeping a solid standing majority in stock. Outlet stores are great 2 sell items however not as much for the entertainment he is giving. Sure back in the days we would have people in makeshift booths giving away samples and allowing you to test products however over the last 30 years or so that has minimized to doing it just 2 keep that family friendly store ideal.
