Sith force ghosts simply couldn't exist, the best the Sith could do is bind their spirits to objects. And in this case here, Darth Bane is bound to his own Tomb.
Actually, Yoda was correct. This isn't even a ghost, just an illusion. The episode establishes that the Sith are incapable of becoming Force spirits, and on top of that the Sith do not even believe in an afterlife. The Sith ghosts from this episode - including Bane - are literally more of the same illusions conjured by the Force Priestesses - like Jedi Dooku, and Dark Yoda; illusions conjured as part of Yoda's tests. Why did they choose to make a Han Solo movie instead of an Old Republic/Darth Bane one instead? I don't hate the idea of a Han movie but this early on? That's what I'm iffy about
Because that which drives Disney is even more powerful than the force. Creating merchandise to sell to kids. A Han Solo movie will sell way more toys to kids, and attract many more parents with their kids to the theatres, unlike a Darth Bane film (which I'd rather see).

One of the most consequential and underrated story arcs of the entire series. Moments like this make me want to throw money at Lucas. But he’s sitting on billions so I’ll buy popcorn instead and rewatch the Clone Wars.
For those unaware, Darth Bane was the founder of the "Rule Of Two", that there can only be two Sith, master and apprentice, at any time, and apprentice ascends by defeating their master. This is because, as he put it here, the greed of the old Sith Order caused it to destroy itself. Ironically, by the time of the Clone Wars, the Rule Of Two was being repeatedly violated by Sidious and we get glimpses of the infighting and politics that led to the downfall of the Sith the first time.
Before that as well. Plagus was still alive during TPM. Maul was Palpatine's apprentice playing the role of assassin. That's probably why Dooku's attachment to Ventress concerned him. He could tell Dooku was using her the same way he used Maul
@@unforgiving6363 Well, we know that force ghosts are a thing, we just don't know if Sith force ghosts are currently canon. Technically speaking, any ability that a Jedi can use, a Sith could potentially use, and vice versa, but it's difficult to say for sure.
@@PerovNigma the coral wasn’t a permanent thing for him. The corals were these things called orbalisks and were basically parasites that offered great power if you could withstand their torture. Technically this is included in legends as well, as it was released on March 7, 2014 before the official April 25, 2014 Disney/EU split. Of course it's included in Disney canon as well cause the Clone Wars was still making lots of money in toy sales at the time.
I agree that's what he did lol Sith Spirits hang around by sheer willpower, the tenacity to not go and join the force, but linger with their memories. But Yoda knows they're just pitiful shadows of the people they once were...and if a shadow realizes he's just an absence of light, he has no power.

If I may, does it matter what's official canon and what's not? We can enjoy stories any way we want. Canon only matters when discussing the hypothetical.
+Matthew Marchbanks it matters if you're talking about what led up to a certain point. It's safe to assume that some things can be called "Canon" so long as something new doesn't come in and ruin the continuity of the lore. So in a way, you are correct.
1:28 When Yoda said "Dead you are," it reminded me of that parody, "Palpatine's Journey." Yoda says to Palpatine, "Dead I am ok? Dead I would like you to be as well!"
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Darth Vader and Anakin were two different entities, Sure Anakin was restored to his senses and lived on as a Force Ghost, but the Dark Side ghost could still be wandering, separated from Darth Vader as two different beings. Kylo Ren most likely sees him.
So something like Darth Revan ? Light side embraced the force and became one with it,while the dark side refused to die and came back to bring the Emperor back to life so he could kill him himself.

@@quintenvoorhees9974 I think it was Gravid.
Darth bane books have the greatest most intense lightsaber battles in all of starwars
'Darth Zannah' isn't canon. It's unclear who exactly Bane is talking about here.
I wonder if Darth Zannah created this manifestation of Darth Bane. She was his Sith Apprentice and did kill him. She was also a master Sith Sorceress.
zannah would be dead already. and this is the force doing this with the lingering power of the darkside shit like this pretty much happens in every sith temple.
Nicolas Dunn it's never been truly confirmed if zannah killed him or he possessed her
Invisible Person, it's a bit of both. Zannah slayed Bane & his soul went to hell, but a small portion of his essence possessed her body. However, I would assume that when she died, that portion of Bane's essence went with her to hell.
Doubt it. Bane doesnt have a tomb, his body was disintegrated in his duel with Zannah. I think the Priestess said it was her doing
@@eddieguererro46 According to Dynasty of Evil, his arm was cut off by Zannah's sorcery and it was intact after his death. If that duel is still canon, Hannah could have taken the arm and buried it in Moraband.
I can definitely hear a hint of Ozai's voice

Why did they choose to make a Han Solo movie instead of an Old Republic/Darth Bane one instead? I don't hate the idea of a Han movie but this early on? That's what I'm iffy about
I'd rather have a trilogy of Old Republic movies tbh. More content and better story than if you squeeze it all into one movie.
Declan Brannigan Sinnott I'm REALLY interested in seeing a new take of the stories pre-prequels
Already happened, they were called the prequels
Because that which drives Disney is even more powerful than the force.
Creating merchandise to sell to kids.
A Han Solo movie will sell way more toys to kids, and attract many more parents with their kids to the theatres, unlike a Darth Bane film (which I'd rather see).
Pizza Fish If they made a babe movie before a solo one, there's no saying Ford isn't gonna die in the making, I'd rather them make the solo movie so they don't lose the opportunity

But was Darth Banes spirit actually present in front of Yoda in this scene or was it just another test similar to when he fought his dark side self.
@@unforgiving6363 Well, we know that force ghosts are a thing, we just don't know if Sith force ghosts are currently canon. Technically speaking, any ability that a Jedi can use, a Sith could potentially use, and vice versa, but it's difficult to say for sure.
If we squeeze down time so that Yoda lives to 90 years old, Darth Bane only died 10 years before Yoda was born. Yoda can't call Darth Bane ancient.
Honestly I like this look for Bane better than his legends look.
IKR Legends Bane Looks So Ugly , Looks Like He Has a cage stuck to his face and those ugly holes in it
Same here, the coral looks weird and here he looks like a Samurai, which suits the ides that he is an ancient warrior.
@@PerovNigma the coral wasn’t a permanent thing for him. The corals were these things called orbalisks and were basically parasites that offered great power if you could withstand their torture. Bane did for a long time and was unstoppable with the armor, but it took its toll and he had it removed. Bane’s regular look was him having no helmet and wearing Sith robes and light armor
@@J99___
Oh yeah, I’ve seen lore videos about it, I was just using “coral” as a derogatory description.
Technically this is included in legends as well, as it was released on March 7, 2014 before the official April 25, 2014 Disney/EU split. Of course it's included in Disney canon as well cause the Clone Wars was still making lots of money in toy sales at the time.

I love how Yoda literally gas lighted one of the most powerful Sith to ever exist back into his grave.
I agree that's what he did lol
Sith Spirits hang around by sheer willpower, the tenacity to not go and join the force, but linger with their memories. But Yoda knows they're just pitiful shadows of the people they once were...and if a shadow realizes he's just an absence of light, he has no power.
That was probably the most epic “Yeahokgetthefuckoutofmywaythanks” moment I think I’ve ever seen

The clone wars is canon and considering darth bane is in it and HE is canon Darth Bane being in the series means that the old republic happened, THE OLD REPUBLIC OS CANON!!!!
no it's not, all we know about Bane is what is in the cartoon and any canon books they're making

Your EU is dead.
So in a way, you are correct.
well since the Mandalorian Wars were re-canonised in Rebels, we could easily see that
Speedruning the first boss
"Exist, you do not"
1:28 When Yoda said "Dead you are," it reminded me of that parody, "Palpatine's Journey." Yoda says to Palpatine, "Dead I am ok? Dead I would like you to be as well!"
Something tells me that Darth Vader's Force ghost will be as similar to Darth Bane's, but more scarier and smokey, of course.
Ofcourse not he turnt the dark side down to save his son from darth sidious
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Darth Vader and Anakin were two different entities,
Sure Anakin was restored to his senses and lived on as a Force Ghost, but the Dark Side ghost could still be wandering,
separated from Darth Vader as two different beings.
Kylo Ren most likely sees him.
So something like Darth Revan ? Light side embraced the force and became one with it,while the dark side refused to die and came back to bring the Emperor back to life so he could kill him himself.
The Legend Legends are brought back in mysterious ways,
Don't know if bringing back the Emperor will be a thing, though...
I wasnt talking about Sidious.I was talking about Darth Vitiate a.k.a Valkorion from The Old Republic. You know the one that imprisoned Revan and used his power and knowledge to beat the Empire and the Republic.

“Yes. Ozai. The last Fire Lord of the Hundred Year War you are.”
I can't believe Luke sky walker is actually darth bane the whole time
Yoda aftet meeting darth bane: "sounds familiar he does. A firelord i knew once"
The fact that Mark Hamill jumped at the opportunity to voice the Sith who invented the Rule of Two is freaking awesome.
"The Sith killed each other..."
Well, Bane, that's... certainly one way to put it. True from a certain point of view, I guess.
this Darth bane follows George Lucas original backstory version where the sith did kill each other in big battle and Darth bane was last survivor of the battle.
