Tarkov’s Cheapest Guns That Destroy PvP (Patch 12.12.30)

- Today we’re going through the cheapest weapons for PvP, starting with shotguns and leg meta before slowly moving up the calibers in terms of power. Rounds maketh the weapon in Escape from Tarkov, and so it’s very important to consider the ammunition that you will be running when trying to make budget guns and builds, because there’s no use having a cheap weapon if it isn’t actually effective.
That said, there are plenty of guns that work extremely well against players of any gear type, which is why leg meta is often a fan favourite of the “undergeared” player, as there is no counter outside of positioning. What’s more is these weapons are often extremely cost effective, so if you die you lose very little vs when you win and can gain much more.
In the more regular weapons, we have to consider our opponent’s armor and as progression in a patch moves forwards, you may have to move higher and higher up the penetration chart to be effective. The tradeoff here is generally damage and penetration for recoil and usability, which means that later on weapons like the SVD can be useful as all of their rounds are at least serviceable!

3:00 You can also buy damaged Kedrs from Fence for about 14k, take out the mag, then throw it into the Workbench 1 craft. Half an hour later you get a Klin, which has 11% faster rpm at 1000, AND a new 30 round mag!
(If you get lucky sometimes you find a Kedr on Fence with the scope/flashlight mount. Make sure to remove it before crafting, otherwise it'll disappear just like a mag if you leave it in.)
I don't really legmeta but this is awesome! Workbench is nice for renewing broken stuff, can do it to aks too

Instead of regular AK, RPK is pretty good. It's the SCAR/MDR of 5.45. You can run it suppressed for under 100k while having better recoil than similarly built AKs at the same price point. I find that it has less first shot recoil and the higher rpm makes it superior to any budget AK build. Easy to find under 50k and sometimes even drops below 40k on the flea.
The rpk is so slept on it feels like it has no recoil
@@fran5377 I didn’t play last wipe but the wipes prior RPK I remember being pretty expensive. I think that’s why it’s slept on now cuz it’s super cheap now but like I said used to be like 80-90k if I remember correctly
Agreed, I really enjoyed the RPK early wipe, especially with PP ammo being cheap and very effective.

The same reason why almost everyone uses val over vss, even though theyre identical in stats.

@@arcticowl1091 my scav has played a critical role in my experience. I feel kinda bad whenever I kill player scavs, often times I just let them go by if they haven't noticed me
You never know when it's just a new player in the situation. Although when the scav is a traitor or a pmc all bets are off

I had the exact same issue when I started out. I had to find a balance between looking at guides on YT and actual playtime (which was mostly offline mode early on). I played a shitton in offline mode exploring the maps in order to learn the extracts before I started questing. I also remember that finding up to date guides was also pretty time consuming. I feel like there are a lot of better guides nowadays compared to when I started playing though.
PPSh goes hard. Used it until I was forced to use other guns for quest and until lvl 27

The budget stuff is awesome for certain situations to get you out of poverty but to reign supreme you gotta grind roubles and run good kits. Personally ran a few of gig's recommendations to build up the wealth to up my game.
I think good kits are important for solo to win against teams. You can rarely yolo into a 3 man with legmeta stuff and get away with it because it requires you to be in trading distance. Not even level 5 armor will regularly allow you to outtrade 3 decent players. You need force multipliers like nice scopes and tight shot spread to ensure fast ttk and position control, big mags and good silencer means you can recoil transfer between targets and reduce the chance of people vulturing you as a solo.
agree with this a lot. was running a semi budget kit, outplayed 2 duos successively but was highly damaged, hobbled away to heal, player scav followed me and finished me off execution style. if i had just a tad better gear, maybe 30k more, which is relatively nothing compared to what I would have come out with, I would have dropped the player scav as well.
My ethos since then: never drop below 1m rubles. If so, stop what I'm doing and do loot/scav runs to be above the threshold. This is mainly from a solo perspective though, as you said. Even a duo would have come out relatively unscathed in the same situation. +1 money matters
Man leg meta just sucks… if you are using a low pen ammo, why not just beam head-eyes? 1 round versus 8

I really like the comunity and hope I will start to understand more of the mechanics and nuances of the ammo types and stuff like that once I start playing it.
It's a very important thing to note that with the AKS-74U series, the -N and the -B are much better than the base model. The base model has a recoil dispersion of 35, the N 30 and the B 25. This is why the base model will spray so wildly, especially when stock. However, this can be countered to a degree by having a laser with point fire and crouching before you try to do any big sprays. With the later versions you can get away with this more. Also worth noting is that at level 15 you get the flea, and you can usually pick up the UB model for about 25k, which is an absolute steal.
I love this weapon with the cheap suppressor, shade kobra and the expensive stock from Skier (I believe) I know it definitely not cheap but the spray is like a laser if you crouch and get beyond the initial recoil. Also PP is cheap and hits hard this wipe (against basic armor, but I’ve gone through 5 with it before with accurate shots to center mass)

Wow, super hot tip - I've been getting pretty good results with the U just naturally while running out Punisher 3 and was considering still using them after, if I can get a better pattern that would be great
@@aquifer9480 I honestly don't really rate using a suppressor even as a solo player as I find the reduced recoil from using a break far too important. It also nukes the two natural advantages of the AKSU in that you loose all of the ergo edge you have on a full-size AK, and the added length means you lose the status of near always keeping your gun point forwards. That said, if you are looking for a cheap supressed build, the AKSUB is where it is at because the gun is 25k on flea, and the PBS-4 (the best one aside from the waffle) is also really cheap, usually going for 25k on the flea, and I've seen it be as low as 15k.
Wtf is "recoil dispersion", I have played over 4000 hours and never heard of this Stat. If youre talking about recoil that's just bc the ub has the suppressor on it. If you take it off and put on the regular flash hider all 3 have identical stats.
Edit: I spent 30 minutes hunting that down. Wtf there are hidden recoil stats? So tired of this bs weird game 😤
Nice vid Gigabeef! My budget solution is crafting ak-74n's at the hideout workbench. I try to buy weapon parts at 10-13k and that way the gun will only cost about 15-17k rub to craft. I scav run on reserve for free bs and bt rounds, and do the hot rod barter for bs. You can literally slap a butt pad, jmac (mechanic lvl 3), with a bastion and a scope of your choice and shes ready to go.
I think you're better off crafting something more "profitable" and using the money to by a 74n personally! Just a suggestion :)

Hopefully they realize the recoil nerfs from last wipe have only made it more important to build meta. It's also unrealistic to see so much muzzle flip on most of the weapon systems in game. I know we in the Tarkov community love to talk about realism - and it's easy to think that more recoil is more realistic, but that's not the case - especially in the case of Tarkov's current recoil ecosystem.
Anyway, this is great advice - just such a shame that these recommendations are so crucial in terms of giving people a fighting chance. Can't stay on target if you pick the wrong gun/wrong attachments, so info like this is very valuable.
Yup, they need to change the pivot point too on many guns, so that it doesn't twist around the hand and more into the shoulder for example

another great video gigabeef! wondering your thoughts on the price discrepancy with 56a1 and 55a1 between skier and peacekeeper. ignoring the required progression, peackeeper sells 6a1 for ~411 rouble/rnd. however, skier sells 5a1 for 526 rouble/rnd while peacekeeper sells 5a1 for ~788 rouble/rnd. stocking up on 5a1 for just a bit more thru skier seems like a steal for a round which preforms much better than 6a1.
100% skier 55A1 is an absolute bargain, once you have PK4 it's usually not long until you have Skier too, so I just wait and then buy them from him each reset
I would also make an honorable mention to the Klin, modernized variant of the Kedr, with higher fire rate (1000 rpm) and even cheaper price on the flea (between 13/15k roubles) !

Yup, and with the PB PBM rounds that can pen level 3 so it can handle the lower level face shields you're likely to encounter.
You can craft a klin from a scav kedr this wipe too, very nice.
Tho personally I only use the kedr b suppressed since that klun round isn't that useful to me anyways
That MDR in 556 is nice IRL. Shame it isn't slightly lighter, but it is the SA80 if was built today in plastic fantastic.

The stock infantry mosin also destroys players easily if you're good at that Hunt Showdown style gameplay of peek shooting. Pair it up with a pistol of your liking with high flesh damage ammo and you're GTG.
T-46M came in clutch when I needed close range bolt action kills. Got lucky and 1 tapped 2 people wearing tier 4 armor.
A nice stat to have would be - distance (blank) MOA value is no longer guaranteed headshot -
I guess you'd have to say "with absolute center aim" to make it reliable, and of course there would always be variance, but it would be nice to have an idea of when you shouldn't bother going for the headshot based on your gun's accuracy.
Still might wanna test the fragmentation chance out with destroyed armor - I presume currently only penetrated rounds can do fragmentation damage which is why arms / legs are not possible to get crit'ed. Lowest armor is class 2 which is
If I'm not mistaken there's a bug right now if a round has below 20 pen it won't fragment.
You didn't even touch on the absurd blunt damage that .45 FMJ does, it pretty much ensures a 4-5 shot kill on lvl 4 armor at close ranges, meaning you can just hose down an enemy at close range with that ammo and get a kill.

idk but personal tip, if you start to getting poor, use flechettes. literally destroys people, you only need good aim
I've used the klin/kedr on factory alot, 13-17k from the flea market with 100 durability, PSV rounds and nothing else. I've shot down tagilla twice and killed alot of geared guys with it. it's so much fun and if you die you just loose maybe 30k for the whole kit with gun, ammo, mags and small rig.
lega meta is fun because the ttk is so fast i you get it right and the monetary commitment is like zero

personally for budget runs i run the sks with a pso scope , or a double barrel+the 366 rifle combo

@@henri131 I feel like it's a solid combo. If you're going for money runs the main objective is to avoid combat with PMCs anyway while also not being defenseless against scavs.
Also the 1911 is probably the best of the pistols as pretty much all the ammo has high dmg & pen. Do beware of high armored enemies of cause but you can rapid fire those 7 shots fast stopping pretty much anything. Also the saiga shotgun is fantasticly cheap as you can sometimes get a 100% dura one for like 13-15k in flea. Also its really cheap to spec for better stats as well (not max stats of cause, but "next best") & makes it fast & stable & usually still come back with insurance, because who wants to loot a saiga. Just make sure to use pellet shells & beware of high armor of cause. The 153 is also incredible. Yes it frontloads, but that has also saved me so many times as you can just sidestep behing a tree/wall, reload & then reengage instantly without having to fumble with mags & similar. Putting on a flashlight (that you usually get from scavs for feee) & perhaps a 9k Vomz reflex sight & you are good to go unless you simply want to "iron sight" in CQC. Usually also comes back with insurance too.
usp 45 is not that expensive and probably more useful in combat than a 1911

the only reason i choose the vpo 209 is because its the only supressable ar style weapon you can buy at level 1

EKP Cobra dovetail is probably the best choice, or OKP7 although I used the TT01 mount and the burris but I'm not really sure why I did haha

Mp9 with a single 30 rounder filled with RIP ammo. Lay down dead in front of a locked door and drop your gear on the ground as if you've been looted. Leg meta the poor person who isn't in the know.

I appreciate flechette ammo as a theoretical ammo that fits a niche in game design for shotguns, but flechette ammo is a complete failure in reality.
Even when you kill someone using flechette, you better hope you still have durability on your armor repair kit in the stash
Benelli is my go to when it comes to shotguns this wipe. 11 round mag, Remington choke, and a simple red dot is all you need to slay chads

@@blank85za flechette or magnum buck. I constantly craft flechette when I have empty fuel cans, and if I don't have any I'll run magnum buck. Sometimes I'll run AP-20, but it's pretty scarce

My mind is melting that the ppSH cannot malfunction or overheat I don’t understand
mpx runs 44000rub off the flea and with some rip 9mm you can murder a pmc with ease while dealing minimal damage to armor so you can sell it to make up for the money spent.
For me I start off with the m3 or mp153 with flechette 100k and it preforms well. I use mp7 for 150k for 3 40 rounders too. Or ash12 ps12b for 150k one shot meta ps12b can be harder to obtain tho so get good

RFB (55k) + TAC30 (30k) + Hybrid46 (30k) = 115k
If you wanna use 762x51 it's hard to go lower
The RFB is a good budget because you can strike from longer ranges and if you can at least get m80, you’re golden
Feels like a more expensive vepr hunter, tho the RFB handles 10 times better at close range after the vepr nerfs :(

i have tested the MOA stats and they seem to be better then what u suggested do test them again my test was 3 MOA at 200 meters and the radius of the circle i got was smaller then head size (i mean the size of character head) if any one tested it pls reply
3 moa at 200 meters / yards is a 6 inch circle which is head size.
Like the other guy said, your MOA sounds about right. 3 MOA at 200m is a 6 inch grouping, which is about head size.

I prefer to run the PPSH with TT AKBS ammo. The damage is slightly lower but there is a -15 recoil modifier. 8 leg hits to kill instead of 7, but I think it is more effective overall. I actually killed Tagilla by dumping an entire 35 round stick of TT AKBS into his legs the other day!

They're pretty similar tbh, 153 has less spread and is cheaper but it's a little bit clunky in CQB, i usually go for the 153 cause of the spread difference tho.
Honestly I think 153 is better unless you're on woods or customs or something and using the thermal on the 155 to help spot people when they disappear into bushes

it is way easier to talk about MOA in inches. 1 moa = 1 inch at 100 yards 2 and 200 3 at 300 so on so forth.
Human torso averages 18" in width the vitals are in the chest are in about a 12" circle. In the defensive shooting world acceptable accuracy is often referred to as 'minute of man' and frequently instructors will tell your weapon is more accurate than you will ever need it to be.
anything with under 10 moa is plenty accruate in this game for 99% of engagements. Consider that shooter born is 125m or 136 yards. How hard is it to find an engagement at that range? even a 5 moa gun will shoot a 7 inch group at 136 yards. human head is typically 6 inches so at shooter born distance. I am not sure how to figure out the hit probability without some calculus but it is a 16% difference, from 6 to 7.
Next time I want to see extreme ultra high drip expensive loadout. Its more relevant one month into wipe 😂

First cuz 80k isnt really budget, he barely said that the RFB is a budget weapon for 55k @skier but since it shoots 762x51 and its the cheaper weapon of that caliber i guess he had to take it in the video. Second u need prapor 4 to be able to get the ks23 with the hose barter and u can "only" buy 25 rounds per reset. And u when u have prapor lvl 4 which is like lvl 36, u dont normally need budget weapons, since most of the guns he talks about is at most lvl 2 traders which is around lvl 15 when u kinda wanna run/need to run budget kits unless u have millions sitting around in scav cases to be sold on flea
Hoses have been going for as high as 50k not that long ago, prices finally came down so I wouldn't blame gb for missing it

@@matthewconrad6922 what are you talking about??? a 153 will cost you the same for worst stats, and as soon as you factor in the price of mods super 90 smokes 153 in terms of price, it also has better mag options and wayyyy better recoil for a shotgun, though i think that may be a bug

@@dade.9948 Not enough to matter, shoot them side by side in your hideout and super 90s recticle returns before mp153 every time, no sense in shooting 10 rpm faster if your gonna end up missing, id also take the for the 11 or 13 round mag alone
So i'm a short MP-155 over the long 153 man myself - especially as a cheap throwaway secondary if my primary is say, a bolty 🙂
I came to the same conclusion about the 5.25mm shells but for different reasons - the accuracy buff translates to a slightly smaller pattern, useful on lower duarability examples.
5.25 doesn't have an accuracy buff those are 6.5mm express. 5.25 are good since the ballistics update because their low velocity makes them retain more damage with distance but I personally still use Express

May i ask why in gods name u are using the blue NcStar laser on pretty much every gun (at least for what i can see in the video)? I mean sure its cheap for 5658 roubles, but i mean u can get a laser AND flaslight together for only 4k more. And a flashlight/laser combo is always better than just a laser, its quite the meta to just beam ur opponent with the sun in their eyes.
he probably likes the high visibility of it for target acquisition

I personally put an extra ncstar opposite of my light laser combo. You fkers wanna play csgo instead of ads, I'll play ball, was halfway decent.
@@aaronaaronson2095 No but sometimes u dont wanna ads and using hipfire, especially in this game, is much better. So having a flashlight to blind the opponent is huge. Also if ur using both, they will kinda not work together and just fuck up, and why would u? Theres an option to use the laser together with the flashlight at the same time if u just press it sometimes
I don't really like flashlights - I find I give myself away more than helping, and trying to flick from one setting to another I also find kinda awkward! Just personal preference
It's the ammo not the gun... basically how much time have you put into the game ? If yes you can crap on anybody lower level than you. Eft is an extremly unbalanced game with people with thousands of hours of gameplay up against the regular bunch of players with no solo and the only game where you can fight up to 5 pmcs at a time.
might be wrong but some of these stats are wrong as damage is distributed differently when a limb is blacked out. if u have a blacked leg any shot that does 35 damage on that leg is an insta kill
Leg is a 1x damage propagation. If a blacked leg took 35 and killed you leg meta would be insane

I hope when they add the reworked armor system they completely get rid of collateral damage. It's stupid that you get shot in the stomach or legs or arms and it damages your torso and head.
The only way a leg and arm shots should be lethal is through decreased capacity to fight back and the bleed system.
They should also prevent the ability to reload while sprinting unless you have very high or maxed mag drills skill.
You really think it's fun game balance to just lay there waiting for someone to pound you into the ground for a good 5 seconds while unable to move and shoot back just because your armor is still intact? I personally would start taking your gear off you while you're still conscious because that bullet might be needed to defend against one of the bosses or something

My suggestion would just get rid of leg and arm meta which never should have been a thing. If you're legs or arms get shredded you either have to retreat and deal with the bleeds or kill the threat before you pass the point of no return with the bleeds.
After the armor rework armor will only protect where it actually covers as well so all rounds will be significantly more lethal to the torso and head and the game is going to be fucking cancer it collateral damage is still a thing.
All kits will be viable so leg and arm meta also won't be necessary for rats and noobs to have a chance at killing anything.
@@Psychobob thinking realistically, if your arms/legs get shredded by a full auto spray, you're gonna die pretty fast irl too. femoral artery in the legs + some, arm essentially amputated. you're looking at about 12--15 seconds of consciousness irl. maybe it isnt represented in game in a way you can understand personally, maybe they can make it more obvious with some symbol like "all the arteries in your legs and arm are melted off, you are dying in 12, 11, 10, 9,..." but that seems a bit absurd when it's very easy to understand. you cant tourniquet something that is gone. maybe theyll add amputation visuals so people get that taking 6-15 rounds in the arms/legs is lethal almost immediately. you said "and deal with the bleeds or kill the threat before you pass the point of no return with the bleeds" which i am arguing; "the point of no return with bleeds is almost instantaneous in real life, so there is some realism to it"
