- 5 Steps showing hot to Unlock E-Bikes Maximum Speed on TFT Displays in less than one minute!
The 860C display is the newest display for Bafang mid-drive motors. It has exceptional contrast in bright sunlight for a color display, it comes with 5 P.A. levels locked from the factory.
Unlocking the 9 levels is very easy as you can see in the 5 steps shown in this video.
Unlocking the pedal assistant levels will allow your bike to use more power and reach higher speeds.

Unlock E-Bikes Maximum in five simple steps:
1 - With the display active, two times the "Memory" button to access the Main Menu.
2 - In the menu window, scroll down to "Basic Setting", press "M" to select this option;
3 - In "Basic Setting", navigate to "Advanced Setting", and press "M";
4 - Select the "Input Password", press "M", enter 1919 or 0512 and "M" key again;
5 - Choose the second option "Assist level" hit the "M" and with the "+" key change the levels to 9 and press again. "M". Scroll down and select "EXIT", press for the last time the key "M"

This just breaks the levels up more. The other levels just get the power split between them. If you have 3 levels the 3rd will be max, if you have 9, the 9th will be max

I wonder why they lock out the last level. Safety? To extend battery life?
I guess they want to comply with the local speed regulation, extende the battery life and let the new riders get used to the bike high torque before unlock the maximum speed. It can be dangerous for new users indeed.

I don't think that gives you any extra power. It only gives you finer steps from 0%-100%
To limit the power to comply with EU law is also possible in settings by limiting the top speed.
What I'd like to know is if this head unit has a cruise control mode.
BTW I had to look up the light switch button press 🤣 why is that so secret!!
Hi :) The power is limited to the motor, controller and the battery, what it does is let the user to access more Pedal Assistance modes and in the end more speed. Indeed they keep it it locked to comply with the EU laws and the rider safety. As this is a very specific mountain bike, people usually ride it off roads, so it is good to know how to get the max of this bikes. I don't recommend using all that power in the cities, neither more than 25km/h ( there is the max. speed control in the settings )
I had the same question about the light button, my other e-bike has it, it wouldn't be a big deal to make one extra button :)

@@BK42Cycles on the Lectric XP ebike there's a button press that will lock the motor at the speed it is turning. Like in some cars. When you touch the brake the lock disengages.
It just lets you take your hands off the throttle. For an advanced unit like the 860C you'd think it would be included. If not perhaps it's not the safest feature!
I'll do some tests with mine and see if 9 levels of Pedal Assist gives me more vroom! 😁
That is really clever! I was thinking to design an adaptor for that, I have some ideas about how to do that. It indeed would be great to have. Unfortunately, the bikes I have are not equipped with the cruise control

Hi I have a DPC-18. It only has 5 levels, any way to unlock it to 9?
I'm sorry, but I don't have this bike anymore.. I would like to double check, but I am not sure that it can be unlocked to 9 leves :(
