  • In a previous video i explained how to reprogram and overclock Bafang mid drive motors using a laptop. Now an Android app has been released which allows you to do all the same reprogramming on a cellphone.
Link to previous video where i went more in depth about how and why to reprogram an ebike.
Warning: the newest 2022+ Bafang mid drive uses a triangle connector not compatible with the programming cable.

My thanks to both of you, much appreciated. Question: I have a new build BBSHD/BBSO3 with a 52 volt battery and the DCP 18 (UART) display programmed with the ECO/SPORT settings. PASS’s levels are listed as 5 in both ECO & SPORT when connected to SPEEED 9 levels are visible. Do you know which levels are assign to ECO or SPORT?
I have seen some that suggest this set up only uses odd levels 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 but no mention of which mode uses them. Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks for this video. I hadn't been aware of the Android App.. very useful.
The Bafang BBS conversion motors are not programmed well, and reprogramming them as you describe makes them much easier to live with.
One comment.. the device on the handlebars that you refer to as the "Controller" is usually called the Display (hence "By Display's Command" as a setting in the program).
The controller is mounted directly on the motor assembly, and its function is to supply power to the motor .

I agree. Idk if this would work with either of my ebikes but it would be nice. I like the way he wants his ebike's assists to be low until the higher levels. My buddy has an Aventon Pace 500 and I was outrunning him on it. Then his battery would go dead trying to keep up with me too! 😁

I got this and it works.. be careful when making adjustments.. I wanted my throttle to be less aggressive.. went to "throttle" > READ... then adjusted then lowered the "start voltage" lower to .5.... This gave me a error code, 04H... (this means throttle high voltage) which didn't make sense.. The motor wouldn't turn with throttle and the PAS stopped..
OH NO....! I went back and read the help icon... it said it must be at the least 1.10 start voltage to operate or the motor shuts down as not to damage the motor because the current is too low.
My recommendation.. only reset one of the parameter at a time.. otherwise, it is almost impossible to figure out the change you made that caused the bike to shut down.. I read somewhere, if you get a error code 04H... disconnect the throttle cable, and if the error code goes away.. replace the throttle.... NOT THE CASE.. you just need to reset the Start Voltage setting to min 1.10... And do not set over 4.40 top throttle voltage or you can burn out the motor...
This is a big LEARNING EXPERIENCE... But the app an the adapter cable work great..! Thanks

isn't the "throttle" simply a rheostat... the harder you press/turn, the slower/faster it takes off? So in Throttle setting 8 @ 80%, wouldn't it take off slow if you only press lightly or fast if you jump to full throttle..?
