- If you're looking for the best mattress-in-a-box, or even just the best mattress of any form, then the Sleep Republic is worth considering. With its comfortable top, multiple layers of memory foam and latex support, and huge spring count, it has a bit of everything. Journalist Chris Stead has been testing multiple mattress-in-a-box brands out, and details his thoughts in this Sleep Republic mattress review.

My issue with Sleep Republic and Origin is they do not have a zip for adjustable firmness, washing cover or replacing the foam when it inevitably fails. I like to open my mattresses to see what they've actually put inside
Interesting, I find the zipper systems a bit of a pain and like to just pick and stick with a side. You'd be more into a Koala or an Emma perhaps then? They allow for the flexibility of turning and unzipping.
Thanks for the review! Very helpful and detailed.
Thank you for letting me know!
Thanks for your reviews. I'm in the market for a new mattress and I find it so stressful. I'm after something medium but I love a soft top so this sounds perfect. I'm just a little concerned about it being too hot tho, I tend to sleep on the hot side so wondering how I'd go.
It's a tough one to answer as everyone is a bit differet. I find all mattresses run a bit hot in Australia, especially with the current humidity. The Sleep Republic is a really good mattress. If you wanted a bit more medium-ness, you could look at Koala Calm As or Soulmate.
But don't stress. You can return all mattresses if you don't like them. I've done it, and the process is pretty straightforward. So give something a go, take into account the trial period, and make a call after you've used it perhaps?
Thanks for that. I ended up going to some bed shops and trying out mattresses to compare medium vs firm, even they varied a lot. I researched more when I got home and I ended up ordering an Origin Hybrid Pro. There's not really many good reviews on that mattress, none that I found really useful anyway, your reviews are much better, I wish you'd reviewed this one. I'm going with it along with a couple of their pillows anyway. I hate the thought of having to return it no matter how easy it is, I don't want to have to go through all that again so wish me luck lol.
Good luck! I haven't heard of the Origin Hybrid Pro. Super interesting combo of materials, which should be good for temperature regulation on paper. Let us know how you go! I might see if I can get one to review.
@@motivatedtravelThanks, will do. They have another newer one too. It's more plush but was out if my price range otherwise I would've got that. It's called the Lumbar Cloud.
I was looking at the Origin Pro, how is it, I’m after something on the firmer side. Thx
@@Unknown-bl9fo Speaking to Origin now about getting a mattress in to review, so hopefully I can put something live soon. A setp up in firmness for me, while still being comfortable, is the Koala (Calm as or Soul Mate) and Emma Zero G. Sleep Firm is very, very firm, if that's what you want.
I just received mine, nowhere near as thick of pillow top as yours, it’s been rolled out for 5 hours now.
It’s very hard. Alittle disappointing.
Really! That's very different to mine. How big is your pillow top? I can measure mine to see how it compares. Perhaps there is a manufacturing fault with yours.

So 24 hours now.
So the pillow top measures 6cm high. Looks very thin compared with yours.
Also, when I feel lower part of the base I can clearly feel metal springs through the mesh cloth.
