Welcome to my Peacelily mattress review video where I take a very deep dive into months of using this mattress. For previous videos on related topics, check:

So, here's the summary of my findings from this video:
✅ I was looking for a new mattress recently, in part because of expanding my family and building a new bedroom, so I went through all my previous materials on the topic
✅ I was wondering whether I should spend $10K USD again on a Samina Sleeping System and get the best bed and mattress combination in the world, as I've explained in this previous video here: aferg.co/samina
✅ Alternatively, I was thinking about taking the "easy" way out and buying a memory foam mattress that comes in a box and be done with it, but, of course, with my background, I know that's not the best option!
✅ But then, I came across the Peacelily mattress which ticked most if not all of my boxes - they also ship to New Zealand so I'm very happy with that. I consider this mattress to be of exceptional quality, actually
✅ The Peacelily mattress is only made with three materials, all organic. I'm going to sleep on this mattress for however long is needed to give you an in-depth review. So here's what you need to know about the mattress:
✅ The three organic ingredients are 1) 100% natural rubber latex glue; 2) 100% natural rubber latex; 3) 100% certified organic wool. The organic nature of these materials is extremely important as you're directly in contact with this material for 8+ hours a day and also breathing it in at all times
✅ Due to these materials, there's no off-gassing of any toxins, although you can smell some latex when unboxing the mattress. The next day I couldn't smell anything anymore though
✅ So, there are no synthetic foams, flame retardants, or synthetic glues, so you're not coming in contact with any toxins. Hence, this mattress is exactly what I'm looking for. The mattress doesn't have any metal springs or coils either, so increasing EMF exposure isn't an issue here
✅ The box, when it arrives, is quite big, and shipping can take up to 4-5 weeks at the maximum. The box is quite neat because it has a handle and wheels, making it easier to move - theoretically! The wheels and box were damaged after shipping though, so I couldn't use it
✅ Some notes: the mattress can take up to four weeks to completely decompress and you'll have to transport it inside the box to the room it will be used first before unboxing. My mattress weighs 54 kilograms. You'll also have to unbox the mattress within four weeks. You might need a second person to move it onto the bed after unboxing though
✅ The Peacelily mattress has two firmness options: firm and medium. To use these firmness options, you'll just have to flip it over. With the Peacelily topper, you can make the bed soft instead of medium
✅ I also ordered two Peacelily pillows, which cost $129 USD per pillow, so that's a couple of hundred bucks for a pair. Pillows are quite important though as you're breathing into them and near them all night long. The Peacelily pillows do seem of excellent quality when I inspect them, with latex int erhe
✅ When I was testing the mattress, we've had quite some hot nights here in New Zealand. I'm used to the Samina mattress and that bed is really cool. The Peacelily is good for avoiding hot nights but it's not as good as the Samina
✅ Partner disturbance is also low with the Peacelily, both for my own mattress as well as the Peacelily mattress my 3-year-old son has.
✅ Next up, the Peacelily mattress protectors are quite nice, from organic cotton, great materials once more.
✅ Finally, there are my likes and dislikes. Likes: toxin-free and organic, very low partner disturbance, good firmness and ability to flip it over, and finally, the cooling is okay but not best. Dislikes: if you want a softer mattress, you'll want the topper, which gets pricier - the same is true for the pillows
✅ Lastly, the natural latex maintains its form better than other mattresses and there's a 25-year warranty

Thanks for your review. I purchased a king mattress with topper and pillows, unfortunately it is ridiculously too hot for me, my husband likes it. Also I find it too unsupportive and now I wake up achey. Im looking to buy something else and perhaps keep the topped for all the health reasons.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that! Did you try flipping it over to the Firm side? Did that help?
If you have a ton of cash - check out the Samina Sleep system - thats a super cool mattress, but very expensive.

Authentic Japanese futons are a different feel but also great to sleep on. You need to get a proper Japanese futon base for it in the West as our houses are made differently.

The durability of the cotton cover seem quite thin and curls up (not the topper or the protector)

    • @AlexFergusdotcom
      @AlexFergusdotcom  Před rokem +1

The cotton cover on the mattress itself do you mean? I'll have a look at mine and see if I'm noticing any fraying. Though I have their protector on top of all our 3 peacelilly mattresses and that is quite thick

@@DCypher7 Yup so this queen one is in the guest room. I then got a king single for my son. And then recently I got a regular single for the second bed in my sons room as I am spending a lot of nights sleeping in there (when he's sick, wakes with nightmares etc)

Your slats are too far apart, will void the warranty 🤔

    • @AlexFergusdotcom

Hey, oh true bummer. I'll have to look into this thanks.

Yeah I ordered one yesterday (thanks for this video Alex) but spoke to the company on the phone first. They said I needed hardwood slats, spaced no more than 9cm apart, otherwise warranty void.
