    Great video. However, i find it strange how so many people say the sleeping duck is a cool mattress.
    I am a very hot sleeper, pretty small guy (70kg, skinny frame) , and i have tired everything to help 'cool' the mattress (new bed frame, bamboo sheets etc). The thing is a furnace in summer.
    Extremely comfortable but wouldnt give it any points for coolness.

    Sleeping Duck. For the record. I definitely could feel the difference between the firm & medium layers. Both in the vertical & horizontal splits. If your partner has medium & you have firm, you will notice the change if you sleep on the crease & roll to the medium. Even if you play with the pads on your side, you need to line up the transitions so they aren't immediately under your hip or shoulder, else the pressure is not even.

    Thanks for putting this whole thing together. If money is not a concern for a side sleeper which one would you choose, Emma comfort, Emma Hybrid or Ecosa mattress? Most reviews online say the Emma comfort would be the best out those 3, but it is also the cheapest... which seems a bit odd.

      Sorry for the late reply! Value for money it's the Emma but if money isn't a concern I'd pick the Ecosa. I think you'll find the reviews are heavily influenced by the affiliate relations from these companies as we've had many of them reach us to incentivise a better review 😉

    I've been spinning my wheels about which mattress to get, the choice these days is insane! I'm a side/combo (but rarely back) sleeper that runs hot. I had it down to either be the Sleeping Duck Mach 2 or the Ecosa Pure. Finding impartial reviews on the Pure is quite challenging (It's not on Choice etc) and ultimately this video and your website was the deciding factor and I've just placed an order so thanks for that!

      @@graememacdonald8687 My first impressions was that it is quite firm. I adjusted quickly from the original Koala, which I really liked, but it's way different since it's a hybrid. It's really responsive/bouncy.
      At first I wasn't sure about it as I thought I would prefer a softer feeling but myself and my partner have been sleeping well. I assumed I would be ordering the Ecosa topper to soften it up but have been fine. It's notably cooler than the Koala which I'm looking forward to the benefits of in Summer.
      I kinda wanted the Koala Soul Mate but the price was too high. In theory I would love to try a few different ones but I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with this.

I just find around the edges of the mattress there's major sinkage even from new...I was advised by the Ecosa customer support team to try the mattress on its firmest layout but it didn't make much difference...

    • @LichiaLo
      @LichiaLo Před rokem +1

      I'm not sure about the source, but I was told it's related to how folded mattresses were made. How it is folded into a box limits its capacity to support the edge. It's sort of a trade-off for those folded mattresses.

    A priority for me rated no mention here... comparing the mattresses based on eco credentials and how long it takes for the new stink to subside. We bought a Zinus and the smell took months to dissipate. The Eva was a lot better on that score.

      Our Sleeping Duck stank of petrochemicals. My recommendation is to pull it all apart. Balance each of the foam layers on chair backs so that you can get good ventilation of both sides of the foam. Then use a fan to blast air over them for 4-7 days. Till you can bury your nose in it & not smell anything. (cause that is what you will do in bed)

  • @MrPhantomPete
    @MrPhantomPete Před 11 měsíci +6

    I compared all those matresses and many others on paper and via user reviews. Went with Ecosa Pure in the end. 1) 15 Warranty for Ecosa kicks in as soon as there is 20 mm of sagging. 2) Other brands have 10 year warranty and allow 30 to 40 mm of sagging before warranty claim can be made. 3) Customers have complained about sagging within konths to a couple of years for some brands in independent reviews.
    Esoca seemed to be the kost likely to maintain comfort, be durable and even honour warranty claims in the long run.
    You get what you pay for.

    • @MrPhantomPete
      @MrPhantomPete Před 10 měsíci +2

      6 weeks after ordering. The ecosa pure mattress was initially "firm" during the first week despite the flipable top section being in the "medium" orientation. The instructions recommend breaking it in by rolling around on it and resting on it in diff positions. We instead went away for a 2 week holiday and noticed a softer mattress upon our return. Further use and "breaking in" has softened it a little more that it now resembles a "medium" feel. You will need to be patient with it and it will come good over time. It is definitely more comfortable than a number of mattresses we slept on in various resorts whilst on holiday.

  • @brendanallen2468
    @brendanallen2468 Před rokem +41

    SO you buy a mattress and then need a topper sometimes to make it comfortable. Doesn't that indicate a poor mattress if it needs a topper to even be usable?

    • @Tridentus
      @Tridentus Před 17 dny +2

      As a mattress salesman- if you need a topper that nearly always indicates you chose a mattress that was either too firm or wrong for you for a variety of other reasons. Quality memory foam toppers for queen start around $400 (you can find cheaper crappy foam toppers but if you're doing that then might as well buy a crap mattress to go with it because it negates the point), and even then it's really a bandaid and far from an ideal solution.
      Just bloody come in to the showroom and have us reference you through- yes we make comms off the sale, yes you're paying a little extra for the overhead, but out of over 60 mattresses on (for example our) showroom you'll get the best one for you. I would rather my favourite $1500 (retail) mattress on our floor over 70% of the $6000+ mattresses that are wrong for me for various reasons... hopefully that makes sense. Come in during a public holiday week where all big companies will be having 50% off and you can get a 2.5k-3k matt for half off and I guarantee you're getting the best value at this price point if your salesman doesn't completely suck.
      Watching youtube videos about 5* rated mattresses that are wrong for you makes no fucking sense. Pardon the French but it's one of those things if you worked in the industry you too would find it obvious.

      @@Tridentus But how, having come into a showroom, do you know which is "best for you" when all the salespeople do is have you lie on it for a minute? Is there something else a salesperson should be doing, or is it best just to pay $6k and be done with it. (or $13k ... gack!)

At the moment he uses a spring mattress with a soft pillow top that has completely sank in. So he needs a good quality mattress that gives support but has a nice soft top. He also is a vegan and does not want to use silk and wool. Which one do you think would best fit for his needs. Even if he does not like it that's okay. Only 1 arrived! it took a lot of effort (6 phone calls) to get the other 3 items delivered on the day they said it would be (after 5pmbyt the time it was delivered).
