    Pete Bills (the "expert" in this video) works for Select Comfort/Sleep Number. I know this because I worked with him for years. I can't believe that they didn't mention that he is an EMPLOYEE of the company that makes the bed that he is promoting. He also does their infomercials and is a regular guest on QVC when they are selling the Sleep Number beds.

      I figured this much and what he didn’t mention is that when you lower the pressure in the bed it causes a hammock effect allowing your hips to sink further in bringing your spine out of alignment which will cause more back pain!

      Yeah once he used the sleep number "tool" to measure, the jig was up. VERY disappointing to see this show be used as an infomercial! 😡

    I just bought a TemperPedic hybrid medium firm. Before, on my previous bed I had terrible back, hip,neck, and shoulder pain. TemperPedic bed is a dream. After you break it in for a couple of weeks it totally supports those pressure points and.conforms to your body. Their materials were originally made for astronauts for support and comfort. All I can say is I have no more pain and I get a peaceful pain free night's sleep and have more energy all day. Best money I ever spent on a mattress!

      Dominican7Chick he works for sleep association and sleep medicine assoc as a researcher. Of course he works for company because every company has to hire researchers for testing phases. If you look him up you can see the medical journals showing his studies. And it doesn’t matter where her mattress was from that’s not the point. The point was showing her body’s pressure points on whatever the mattress was and what it could be like when you find one that’s right for you. Showing different affects on pain, sleep, pressure, tossing and turning, support. They gave her a sleep number. He didn’t hawk the mattress brand or say people should buy it. He said “With ANY MATTRESS when buying lay on it for 15 min. Don’t just touch and buy” etc. I think you maybe missed the take away of this ...the point behind it. Since you only focused on the brand and that he does research for them in testing phases.

    • @2timebrainsurgsurvivorrare11
      @2timebrainsurgsurvivorrare11 Před 6 lety

      furioushazaa read my other comment below. Of course it’ll show sleep number as that’s the bed they gave her. Very valuable info on sleep and buying ANY MATTRESS is shared. As they say multiple times about buying any mattress brand. This is info on sleep medicine assoc and mult other associations of physicians show these studies in tons of published medical journals and articles. The science is the same on sleep brand doesn’t matter. Every type of sleeper needs a certain type of mattress and support. Like side sleepers need a softer mattress usually to not cause pressure points to compress like hips, knees, shoulders...but also need spine alignment either from an air pressure mattress or springs not just memory foam. But back sleepers need a firm mattress usually of memory foam. Sleep affects everything in our health and lack of it can cause severe disturbances in vital hormones even leading to adrenal diseases and death. I know I have mult diseases that sleep or lack of can literally send me into crisis and I can die if not treated. You probably have missed out on a lot of important info on tons of shows if ya stopped watching just cause a brand was shown. That’s like not watching a cooking show cause they show Tyson for brand of chicken used. Or not watching football cause of ads and commercials. They had to show brand because that company gave her a free bed. But they said rules for any mattress.

    I bought a bottom-of-the-line Sleep Number bed over ten years ago. It has a remote control but no numbers, and yes, it was from a Sleep Number store. I put all of it together myself, no problem. For a few years, I loved it. Over time, it became more and more difficult as it would lose air too quickly. Now, it's unbearable, having to fill it every few minutes, waking up on the hardness of my bed frame's slats, etc. It has a 25 year warranty, so I got in touch with their customer service. All they do it try to tell you how to troubleshoot it yourself to figure out why it's losing air. The video was no help. Even if I do all this testing, I know I'll end up with the same problem again; it's not worth it. I did look at the hose connection more than once and it didn't look quite like what's in the video, plus, I don't have the "caps." From what I can see and feel, I can tell that there's no way I'd be able to diagnose it well enough nor fix it forever even with new rubber rings or whatever. I called the Sleep Number store asking if I could bring it in so they could look at the problem and he said, "There are no technicians here." Also, they're out of caps. So, Sleep Number expects its customers to be their own technicians. Also, because of the hose, another drawback of this bed is that you can't use a mattress encasement. Until I decide what non-Sleep Number bed I'll buy, I'm sleeping on my air bed that I'd bought for travel. Much cheaper, feels similar and fills with air MUCH quicker, but I can't and won't sleep on a bed meant for overnights forever.

      I didn't get paid by the lobby of mattress, i just hate ignorance. Sleeping well is very important and affects you in many way.
      I don't say that because i heard it, i say because i experienced it. I can't sleep on a hard mattress at all. ( Not even on a expensive one).
      So the quality and the firmness is very very important.

    We've own a Select Comfort bed for over 15 yrs and it's the absolute BEST. I've had disc trouble for over 27 yrs and any other mattress didn't hold up, gave me terrible pressure point issues to deal with. Actually I had to begin pain injections to reduce pain on top of Vicodin. My sleep needed to help me get through my day working, with kids, sports, etc. I highly suggest the Select Comfort.

    The sleep number bed's biggest problem is you fall into the center a lot..the individual sections are a good idea in concept but in reality are too small and create a beach ball effect if over inflated ..I had sleep number and a good spring mattress with pillow-top can be just as good or better.
    Also an air bed can fluctuate sometimes in pressure and a consistent mattress firmness is essential to good sleep.

    I'm one of these silly buggers who are "sensitive". Over the years the best thing I found was an all natural traditional Japanese futon is the way to go. Sure they're firmer but you can get one with a foam core to soften it up a bit. But when I get my own place (one day) it'll be a futon on which to sleep.

    • @BoltRM
      @BoltRM Před rokem

      Futons seem to work the best for a large percentage of the population AND they are cheaper. Good to give them try. I've spent thousands looking for a good mattress. Even bought a $3000 one which started sagging after 4 months. I would have returned it, but I bought it from my fiancee's salesman son ;(
      Anyway, my $200 futon was much better & later got a nice king memory foam for $300 from Woot & it has been great! In my experience, price has meant _nothing_

      I have the "Purple" bed, and I love it. It may not be for everybody, but no bed is. Every person is different, so a bed that may be crap for one person may be the best thing in the world to another. I think what most people like myself are upset about is that the bed was reviewed by the Vice President of the company, so obviously there is a biased oppinion. The show is a total Sell Out. If they are going to do a comparison on beds for one they shouldn't compare it to a bed picked up off the street, and two the people doing the comparison should not work for the company, besides be the company VP.

    DON'T BUY A SLEEP NUMBER BED!!! I've had one for just over a year and now I've got back problems that I've never had before. You can see why in this video. When the bed is "adjusted" to this lady's number (35) take a close look at her head and shoulder position (4:54)....her head is angled up and is not in alignment with her shoulders and back. There may be no pressure points but that just means there is no support for her spine. Our spines aren't meant to bend like they do in this bed. WORST BED I'VE EVER HAD!!!! LITERALLY!!!!!

Since I found that unacceptable, Customer Service adopted an adversarial attitude and we canceled the order. That part was easy. The rest of It was the most stressful interaction I ever had with any company. This mattress has electronics and moving parts (the pump). Stuff like that fails even in the best products. That being said my review is to defend the sleep number bed itself. I myself have been sleeping on a sleep number for 15 years and would never sleep on anything else. Such a fan that we actually purchased a 2nd one. The guest room gets the queen and we now have a king. I love them, my husband loves them and my son loves them. It's so obvious this was a sales pitch for select comfort. All you have to do is research complaints about select comfort as well as unhappy users and you'll see that a lot of those once, loyal customers of the brand have switched to a hybrid mattress from one of a dozen online websites.

    I got sleep number and do not like it. 179 for delivery and 179 for return. Customer service sucks already cancelled once, hope they show up for next scheduled pickup. Have to wait two to three weeks before receiving a check after pickup. Bought off of my sisters account to save extra 100 bucks. Now receiving junk mail at her house to places I've never been too. Should of bought a regular mattress.

    So the Sleep Number can measure pressure, got it. What do the people that have slept on it say without being paid to be on a tv show. Sounds like all the negative comments are saying Sleep Number should do a little more research on their bed designs. My experience has been that the costly mattresses aren't always the best. My current mattress (now 11 yrs old) meets my needs and there's no fancy built in adjustable pressure settings.

    I sell mattresses and Sleep number mattresses are mainly good for couples who can’t agree on a feel. When a guest of mine finds the perfect feel(let’s say Medium), they don’t ever say they want to make it firmer or softer. My point is find the right bell by laying on them. Now if you’re 25 and younger and have no medical issues then buying online will “probably” work, but I never recommend it. Oh yeah, huge fail Dr’s… You need to try mattresses with pillows because 25% of your support is in your neck thus altering pressure relief in shoulders.

    I had Spinal fusion surgery C5/C6/C7 2 years ago after a car accident and have not had a good night sleep since. I'm in sooo much pain. I've gone through 3 beds which included a Mattress firm bed. Who had $3,500 to waste, not me. My son and I are in college paying pout of pocket. I wake up with pain in my neck, back, shoulders, hips, legs and I have headaches. I sleep on my side trying to adjust the weight to ease pain. Nope, doesn't work. I now don't have a bed and I am sleeping on my recliner couch. I need help. What do the doctors suggest?

    • @Christoff070
      @Christoff070 Před 6 lety +1

      I did some research on mattresses. Ironically I found a lot of positive reviews by people who sleep on the floor. It is perfect for spinal alignment and pressure. You just get a few layers and/or a futon on top, nothing more. either that or get a standard mattress and wodden bed frame, and add a latex/wool mattress topper. Gives support and softness. Forget bullsh*t expensive mattress even if you are rich they the same as regular.

    Sleeping well is not a f*cking science, just common sense and awareness. Some interesting points about pressure and what may be best for side and back sleepers. But I was shocked to hear the "sleep expert" state that it is 1 in a thousand chance of a random mattress suiting her. Its more like in two, whether she is big or small. Mattress is easy to customise too, just buy a mattress topper if you need extra layer. Read mattress reviews, shop wisely, and try b4 you buy. Simple.

  • @natkra90
    @natkra90 Před 6 lety

    Sleep Number is a glorified air mattress. Notice how this guy doesn't talk about support. That's because you don't get that from a Sleep Number. You can get the right feel with but your body could be out of alignment. If you live in the midwest, I recommend going through the diagnostic program at an Art Van Pure Sleep. They have all the best brands and use proprietary technology to diagnose you and every mattress to correlate your support. It's the best process to taking the guesswork out of finding the right mattress.
