    Thanks for the video. I didn't see any other videos comparing the 2 types of cores. You said you have to go and try out what feels best. That is hard to do with so many internet-based options. I guess it is just... see if you can find what you like locally and if not or if you want to try to save some money, do some initial research to determine what you think will be best, then order one and try it out until you find one that works.

    We bought a temperpedic cloud in 2012 because we are both mostly side sleepers and it was great until about 7 years and then I noticed a lack of support beginning in 2019. Here we are in 2023 still dealing with it as I just can't decide on what mattress to trust again. I thought $5000 for seven good years a bit much. I am currently putting a folded towel under a foam topper to get some support. The other consideration is that my husband has gained 50 to 60 lbs since 2012 and is now at 250. I'm at 116. So I'm thinking we will need to go firmer for longevity with mattress topper for cushioning the joints. He also sleeps hot and I don't. Have considered a split king but don't want an XL. I am really missing the Serta Perfect Sleeper , top of the line, we got in 1987 or so. Got 18 years out of it by flipping. So comfortable! Looking for that AH! feeling I always felt when I laid on it. :(

    What if you had a soft talalay on top then a med dunlop and then firm dunlop. Wouldn't that solve the problem of bottoming out if you are a side sleeper? Especially if you weigh over 250? or say 2 soft talalay and a firm dunlop? I can feel the springs pushing back on the hybrids and I always bottom out on the memory foams. Have yet to try latex. Im still on the hunt for that right mattress for a heavy side sleeper.

      quality matress. A good bedbase is also something highly important here. In my case I do have an electrical adjustable flexible slatted bed base. These bed bases are also adjustable to adjust the suInteresting how the bedsystem is different in America comparing in Europe. My matress is only 9.5 inches, pocket coils, with only about 2 inches memory foam and my matress is concidered as a highpport. It is also common here that partners do have their own slatted base and mattress in a double bed, even often have their own duvets. Sleeping comfort is very personal, I can't imagin to not have my own matress. Also matress covers are having a zipper to be able to wash them every 3 months or so.

    Hi,
    I have tried multiple beds the last few months and have decided to try latex since none of them were right for me.
    Can you tell me which latex bed you would recommend for me?
    I am 120 pounds, combination sleeper. I do not like the feel of memory foam and prefer more of a traditional mattress feel, like I am on top of the mattress rather than sinking into it. I sleep hot, and all of the hybrid beds I have tried claim to be cooling but are not at all. I prefer a balance of soft but firm for support. I have watched so many videos as well as read many reviews and cannot figure out which would be best for me and I am tired of buying and returning. Please help!

      I have the same issues as you and have seen tons of reviews, all of which just confused me more. I’m currently leaning toward a DIY all-latex mattress, which has 3 - 5 layers of latex encased in a zippered cotton cover from The Latex Mattress Factory. You can unzip it and flip the layers, and/ or change them around to adjust firmness/softness. From what I’ve read, latex mattresses are more durable than hybrids, are breathable, and toxin-free. It’s not cheap, but should last 15-20 years. A 10” mattress was recommended for our body weight.

    • @kaydreyno

      Try Plushbeds Latex Botanical Bliss. They have layers which you can customize and their customer service is superb. I bought 2 and made the mistake of buying Medium (firmness), which was too soft for me. Contacted them and they sent me another extra firm layer for free and it was perfect. I’m planning to buy another one for my parents. The thing with plushbeds is that the edges can be really soft and sinks down when you sit. Just the edges though. I recommend getting at least medium-firm to firm if you don’t like it too soft/plush.

      Great question! Our personal opinion that we recommend is 3”. We have one with 2” but that mattress leans more on the firmer side. If you like a firmer mattress then a 2” might work for you but with 3” you have more options when it comes to comfort. We found that 3” is the sweet spot!

    Which one offers more bounce and better responsiveness?

    • @sdmattressmakers
      @sdmattressmakers  Před 2 lety +4

      Latex Hybrids are going to have a bit more bounce because latex already has a bit of bounce since it is rubber, and then you add the springiness of coils, and that will give you even more bounce. So if you prefer a mattress that has a more buoyant or bouncy feel, I would recommend the Hybrids.
