Must be all Na'vi. Basically all human genome in them is what gives them eyebrows and ten fingers and toes, and what gives them their personal characteristics (face). One of the reasons Avatars were created were so that researchers would be able to breathe the air and eat Pandoran foods, it would be really odd to have human taste buds, since probably most if not everything there would be disgusting to us (completely different biology).
I've got the collector's edition but I so wish they'd kept the extra footage of the Child being curious in the final cut. It's such a sweet moment with her curiosity and Jake's reaction to it.

I really wish they had created a separate movie just filled with deleted scenes, like all of them, not just the animated ones, like the Neytiri dancing one where is just the actor dancing cause they never animated an outline for it. You want the flow of the movie to be smooth and cohesive, and it can't really be achieved if it's too long, people would either get lost in the narrative or get bored!
I like that they cut out this scene between Neytiri and Jake. Neytiri having more time to warm up to him definitely makes sense; especially given her history with the Sky People. At this point in the story, she stills holds a lot of resentment and animosity.

I already saw the director's cut. But the additional scenes here would've added a little bit more nuance to Jake and Neytiri's blossoming relationship, a clue that Jake will easily adapt the Na'vi lifestyle while Neytiri will be getting a hang of teaching him (she didn't want to after Mo'at gave her the task), and a bit more screen time to Mo'at and Tsu'tey.
She initially wanted to kill Jake because humans killed her sister when they attacked the school. Avatar gets criticized for being shallow, but so much character development was edited out. It’s a shame. At least we get these extras to fill in more details.
Basically a form of Aboriginal Recognition, Eating Witchetty Grubs, Avatar's story has many underlying bridge references like that . (dire) horses and Sturn beasts (buffalo) , the list is even woven into Na'vi leadership and community expression structures.

The unfinished scenes are actually like old school PS 2/3 graphic standards. Which makes sense because Avatar came out in 2009. What is really astonishing is Avatar had CGI that outshines even modern CGI movies even in 2009. They literally had to invent the modern CGI that films use today.
Well, modern CGI is waaaaaaaaay better. There are a lot of unnatural shading and not particularly good light reflections in Avatar which is expected of course from such an old movie. However the result of rendering depends not only on technology, but on the work of artists and depends a lot. We can make rendered imaged nigh-indistinguishable from real photo, like e.g. "photos" in IKEA catalog. It also helped that na'vi are not humans and you do not subconsciously expect them to be exactly like humans. For instance, human flesh is slightly transparent, and it also reflects rays of light from inside a little bit (and makes them of certain color) and this effect matters, but it is very expensive from computing point of view to process it. Also notice lack of proper - "human" - hair.
Hopefully Cameron finishes these scenes and makes a complete directors cut to show the full vision. I feel like these scenes being deleted diminishes the impact of certain moments
This is the only deleted scene that I think the movie would be better with... everything about it is just beautiful. Love the chemistry between the characters here.
Min 1:17 I thought it was an act that they were consuming some food, I thought they had nothing and, it turns out that they are actually consuming something. Maybe because they required the sounds of when you consume something. And since they have their microphone there. 😁
really like that moment between mo'at and eytukan. it almost seems like he chuckles after her comment. I have such a soft spot for older couples in stories and to think that mo'at lost him along with Hometree.
The fact that Neytiri has a long name reminded me of that scene in Atlantis (Disney, 2001) where Milo has trouble pronouncing Kida’s name because it was also long. 😂
I understand a lot of these scene cuts, 2-4 minutes adds up ESPECIALLY when you’re already at the 3:30 hour mark. It’s just sad to see scenes like this that are just perfect, and just flesh out the people more. One thing I thought of rewatching the way of water was “neityri and jake do have good chemistry, but it isn’t perfect” it’s because scenes like this are cut.

I understand a lot of these scene cuts, 2-4 minutes adds up ESPECIALLY when you’re already at the 3:30 hour mark. It’s just sad to see scenes like this that are just perfect, and just flesh out the people more. One thing I thought of rewatching the way of water was “neityri and jake do have good chemistry, but it isn’t perfect” it’s because scenes like this are cut.
