      Éliás Péter I always thought the same thing for why Jake was breathing heavy. A forceful, manual disconnect would theoretically put a huge strain on the body and mind, but this makes a lot more of sense.
      It is Kind of like when you are forcefully woken up while in the middle of a nightmare. That is why doctors tell you to not to wake people who are having night terrors unless it is absolutely necessary to protect them or yourself from harm and, if you must wake them, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL because they won’t have control of their actions when they first wake up. I had a friend in boy scouts who had walking night terrors and we always had to have an older scout or an adult stand guard to insure he would walk off in the middle of the night or try to hurt anyone.

    Neytiri immediately chose jake over being a very important figure in her clan, true love right there. Overall, this scene really adds to the movie. Someone else commented it makes sense why jake would be breathing so heavily when he got his link broken so there’s that too. Yeah especially because Jake would've probably been trained mainly in armed combat and to fight using a human body. He was out of his depth fighting in a Na'vi body and in one-to-one combat with a highly trained warrior that grew up in that same body. Tsu'tey should've wrecked Jake realistically, or at least they should've been pretty evenly matched since we can see that Jake, as an avatar, has a lot more muscle due to this human DNA while the natural Na'vi is more slim/built for speed.

      @Bia Tch Hypothetical situation....You're in charge of what remains of the human race. Earth is dying due to lack of resources and living space. Your scientists need a certain material that will create sustainable energy that will help humans reach planets further and faster. This resource will also solve the energy crisis on Earth and save billions of lives in the years to come. Then your scientists find a HUGE abundance of this resource on a hostile alien world where there is an intelligent, but primitive indigenous species. You tried to make contact with them, but due to the communication, physical, and ideological difference between you and them and due to their beliefs in which they don't want anything to do with your technology or knowledge, you cannot reach a politically or economically peaceful agreement with them to mine the resource and in some cases they were hostile to you and some humans lost their lives. You can't find another planet close by that has this material and if there was one you don't have the time to get there either. In this situation (Which may also be similar to the humans in Avatar), do you want to tell the billions of lives on Earth, "Hey sorry everyone, but the human race will be extinct in 20 years because we don't want to encroach on another species' land even though we outnumber them and are more technologically superior in military technology."

      @sempermilites87 Před 4 lety +46

      @@50calM82A1 Right. Otherwise you run into the problem that happened in the Transformers Universe where the Autobots knew their planet was dying, but did not want to conquer other species or destroy them for energy while the Decepticons would. In the scenario I described, there is absolutely 100% chance that a civil war will start and the Navi may still be at war with a more aggressive human faction. Either way the Navi are in possession of a rare and valuable resource that they don't use, but won't let others take which means war is inevitable for them.

      He spent the whole movie lying to Neyteri and the Navi not telling them his real purpose and why he was actually there. Then he accepted their hospitality, became one of the people, mated with Neyteri and STILL didn't tell them that the mining rigs were going to cut down hometree until he was literally forced to because the bulldozers were feet away from flattening everyone inside. He had 3 months to tell them.
      Not to mention, Jake knows he is only slated to be on Pandora for the next 6 years- he's not going to be there forever. Not only doesn't he tell Neyteri that, but he knows that she is betrothed to the future clan leader. He jeopardizes any future relations the humans can have with the Navi in a moment of pure selfishness- and pretty much destroys Neyteri's life in the process.
      Its not only the Navi he screws over, he also screws over his own people. He spends the whole movie lying to the Colonel as well- pretending he is one of the marines despite knowing that he is in a very conflicted state of mind. He wasn't forced to work for him, he was asked to. And in return was promised a life changing surgery for his efforts. The colonel keeps his word and is ready to have Jake shipped out for the surgery until Jake refuses and assures him that he can get the Navi to move. Instead of IMMEDIATELY going to Neyteri or the Chief and telling them what is going to happen, he casually attends his ceremony, bangs the chief's daughter, and then wakes up the next day like "whoops" I totally forgot I was supposed to tell these people that today is the day their home is going to be razed to the ground.
      If you think about it, he was completely and utterly selfish the whole movie, He was "court marshalled" by the humans and was faced with a moral dilema which clearly favored the Navi. Choosing to help the Navi was not courageous or admirable in any way- it was literally the only choice he had left.

    I've been watching a lot of these deleted scenes and a lot of things make sense now. Also notice a lot of things I didn't in the movie. For instance, I know the navi people had four fingers but I just noticed that Jake Sully's avatar body has five fingers like humans. And Trudy and Norm we're actually a couple which makes Trudy's death really tragic. She was the only one in the army that was on the avatars side she fought for the people. Before she died she actually said "Norm, I love you" but we obviously didn't get to experience that in the movie. Another interesting thing I like is I understand why Neytiri really hated humans - while in Grace's school her sister was killed by soldiers. I honestly love all these details I wish they put it in the movie even if it made it 3 hours long. Nah it makes sense that the scene was removed. All the urgency that Jake had to tell them what was going on, only having an hour to relay the message, I don't think he would have just accepted a duel in such a crunch of time. Jake's character always cuts to the chase, focuses on the most important thing. He wouldn't have been able to forgive himself for missing an opportunity to get the Navi to leave by accepting a duel that really means nothing when Natyri already chose Jake.

    The energy of two alpha males fighting is instead addressed in the story through much deeper inner layers , I understand why some of these angles where cut from the film, still a very interesting thing to see play out , but as a whole did not fit the ethos of the story as the audience was aware of the trust and honor tensions clash between Jake and Tsutey ,, it would also hinder the angles of the rest of story development ..the film has more layers of reflection upon addressing the stereotyping of indigenous peoples portrayal in early cinema and this example did not fit the mold very well on that subject ..

    I think they made the right decision cutting this scene out of the movie. The exchange between Mo'at and Neytiri, the anguish in Mo'at's voice because her only daughter gave up her path to becoming Tsahík, something she was working towards her entire life, to be with a man from an invading alien culture who gave crucial information to their military forces that ended in the destruction of their home and sacred sites, it's all too much. Apart from the scene were Trudy announced Quaritch arrival I'm ok with this scene been removed. I mean Quaritch was on the way the idea of a challenge was great, but there was not enough time to do it. The actual scene were Jake actually beats Tsu'tey in just 2 movements says much more.
    Like how Jake was actually a real skilled warrior and he was containing himself all this time against Tsu'tey. In the end he beat him here aswell but not so easily. He even make Tsu'tey look bad in the final version, after he arrives as Toruk Makto his expression is not only of fear but huge respect as well!.
    If the scene had prevail, his character may have had the idea that he was only defeated because he outsmart him or because he was lucky or any other thing as the duel was certainly even until the last part.
    However with the final scene he realized he never stood a real chance, he was beated in two movements with a strange alien fighting style. And now the same MF he left for dead returns mounting a huge Last Shadow.
    Tsu'tey soon realized he should not fuck with Jake Sully of the Jarhead Clan and support him as he requested. Or risking his ass to be beaten again.
    That's why the final scene is better than this.

    For anybody wondering (since alot of my friends didn't understand this) the reason why Neytiri wouldn't be able to become Tsahik if she were to be Jake's mate, is because Tsu'tey was going to be the next clan leader. Him and Sylwanin (Neytiri's sister) were supposed to be set up to be Clan Leader and Tsahik once they mated, but a sky person shot and killed her, and Neytiri was set up with Tsu'tey instead.
