  • The small additions of the Avatar Program being shut down would have played a large part in the payoff in the "Avatars Attack" scene for sure.
    Avatar belongs to 20th Century Fox and Lightning Storm Entertainment.

    This scene truly shows the horror of an actual war being instigated by one another, The RDA plows their sacred trees intentionally to start a conflict, the Na'vi attacks in revenge by destroying the equipment and human lives in return, but this gave RDA the free hand to attack without any consensus against the Hometree and later Eywa as seen.
    What's more interesting is that if Jake Sully hadn't arrived on Pandora in the first place, the RDA would have likely wiped out the Na'vi and Eywa later on as war between RDA and Na'vi was inevitable.

      Wiping out the protagonist’s tribe? Probably. Wiping out Eywa? Definitely not. Eywa can control all the animals on Pandora to attack the RDA. And there is no way a private company is authorised to do large scale destruction on the only habitable planet other than earth
      The only explosives they have are for mining. The army in the movie are just security guards for a mining company

      @@artofninelimbs5930 You forget that the RDA is at the time the biggest corporate company on Earth, along with it's infamous SecOps "Security Operations", where it's military capabilites far exceeded that of almost all Earth Governments. And it wouldn't be a surprise if they had connections running deep within the many nations, governments and had hundreds of officials bribed or even paid off to turn a blind eye to their operations.
      Also Eywa is restricted to the planet only, the RDA could easily launch a planetary orbit weapon and destroy Pandora from space, just like in Mortal Engines where certain doomsday weapons could destroy entire cities / continents in mere seconds.
      As for authority, when the mercenaries and local miners are killed off-world by some alien na'vi and hostile creatures, you can rest assured that their families or loved ones are gonna wish death to Pandora and want full retaliation.

      @@A-CC-Thax it doesnt make much sense that a company can be more powerful than all government. but if is true, it would conquer the whole planet earth first. this way, the company doesnt even need to bride anyone or be retricted by regulations, if it becomes the government, it can establish laws thats favorable to the company and collect taxes from everyone, which would be way more lucrative

      I also like the deleted scene where Parker is trying to stop the military guys using the mining explosives, it humanises him more, that he's a pencil pushing businessman who doesn't mind encouraging the Na'vi to move aside so he can strip mine but doesn't have any particular wish to kill them.

      Noticed that too, it seems they had several different ideas on where to go with him. He's much more devious in this one, whereas the cut scenes of Quaritch getting the base ready to fight shows him as a different person, not wanting a war, or his workers being forced to fight for Quaritch's war. It also shows the conflict in a different side from the human perspective, as the average grunt/miner/worker is being armed up, given 3 mags, and being told that it's "us or them". Changes the tone of the big fight at the end

The family he’s become part of are having their home destroyed in part because of him and many of them could die. Remember, there were schools where the more progressive Navi learned. And as it turned out (in one of the deleted scenes), some of them wanted to learn _just enough_ to successfully attack. Being used to modern human technology, a lot of Navi are likely perfectly aware of the internal mechanisms and basic science behind the bulldozers by the time the actual attack takes place. Just drill a hole into the fuel tank, flicker a few cables, and you already have an explosion.

    • @brainplay8060
      @brainplay8060 Před 4 lety +25

      @@HAXGGEZ Except that it's an armored bulldozer. Drilling a hole into it is not going to be easy using stone tools. The Navi have no metal tools of their own. Their arrows have even been shown as useless against metal. They can pierce the soft body armor worn by humans and crack the plexiglass of the mechs through sheer mass of their arrows but that doesn't work on metal. So how did they access the tanks to spill them? Even if they figured out how to open a fuel cap, tossing a torch down the hole would do nothing just like tossing a match down a car's fuel port does nothing. No oxygen means no fire. So unless they siphoned it out manually, thus covering themselves in fuel, then there is no way they could have set the thing on fire. I mean maaaybe they put enough brush around the thing and did it that way.

    I remember going back to the film and watching it again(it’s a guilty pleasure of mine) and I realized that the Na’vi had nothing to do with unobtainium. In fact they’re most concerned with their own lives than those rocks. That kinda makes the violence between these sides kinda pointless if thee native species of the planet with the same rocks didn’t need said rocks. And the fact that the RDA just wants the materials and not their planet makes it even more so. If the Avatar program just asked that they wanted the materials, they Na’vi would’ve backed off. And even if the RDA DID want their planet, they’d probably decide against it considering the gravity level and hostile wildlife. Not the mention the flux out there.
    Of course, since finding unobtainium would’ve required lots of land destruction, and the fact that Hometree had the richest unobtainium deposit in the RDA’s radius, the violence was kinda inevitable.
    You know, going back to that Hometree thing. If they destroyed Hometree, why didn’t they arrive there to gather the materials. When Jake woke up at that area, there’s literally no one there but him. Wasn’t the point of destroying Hometree(as a last ditch effort by them after the failed diplomacy) was to gather the materials? The Na’vi moved out after the attack, so why haven’t they got there? I guess it’s because of Jake’s body being there.
