- The cookiecutter shark's ventral surface is covered with photophores, rendering it nearly invisible in the light. The non-illuminating collar around its neck forms a shadow, attracting prey. When prey approaches, the cookiecutter shark bites off a piece of flesh, creating circular wounds. Their prey includes fish, sharks, whales, and even parts of submarines covered with soft rubber.

You've made 2 videos about sharks, now 3
Kaitensushi
Is the rubber bad for them? Or do they not even swallow bc it tastes odd?
Submarine- appears
Cookie cutter shark- *Munch*
When I become a zoologist I will nickname these guys the munch anything shark or the munchers of the ocean
Can they actually do that?
The government: must been done by the communist.
@@Brydav_Massbearyeah they broke a sonar component if I recall properly
*Iâm gonna munch, Iâm gonna crunch*
Little fact: There are some cases of cookie cutters eating humans, and even inanimate objects like depicted in the video! They are the hungriest lilâ fellas in the ocean.
MAN I ACCIDENTALLY COPIED MY OWN COMMENT BECAUSE OF LAGđ§đđđđ
They were discovered because submarines kept coming back up with circular chunks taken out of them.
@@sarah.5524 I didnât know that! It reminds me of a relatively-recent discovered species of ship worm that eats stone that is called lithoredo abatanica.
Correct me if I'm wrong, don't cookie Cutter sharks also eject their entire jaw after eating and than almost miraculously they regrow an entire nother jaw full of equally powerful and razor sharp teeth, and they must have some powerful Jaws to be able to bite chunks of meat out of whales becuase whales have thick blubbery skin...there's also another shark I love called a lantern shark it's so small and adorable, it's like a little glowstick with fins.
@@Kairyssa_Omnipotent_000 wait what that is terrifying (also, lantern sharks is a great shark, they be silly lil glowing fellas)
I just love how sadistic her voice sounds! Seriously, it's like she enjoys every minute being a shark! đ€Ł
Love it!
Both these sharks have claspers- meaning!
Well- the art shows both with clasper fins-
The voice gave me Beemo vibes from adventure time đ

What youâve never had a sub before? đ
The funny thing it's really appended in real life , there is some case submarine has to go back to harbour to get repaired because of that Shi*
What you haven't had any submarines?!!
I prefer heroes
Cookiecutter Sharks are so greedy that they decide to eat ships and fibre optic cables
The fact that they actually eat submarines is so funny đ
The submarineâs no joke, either. Theyâve literally forced these subs to return to port because the rubber they removed was protecting something too vital to leave exposed to the open ocean.
In other words, sharks no bigger than your arm took on the U.S. Navy and *won.*
They were also doing the same thing to Soviet subs, and both sides thought that the other had developed some kind of secret weapon until one sub surfaced with a shark still attached.
@@Shaun_Jones Damn, never heard about the Soviets. The dang shark nearly caused another war!
That's so interesting! I thought that was just put in to be funny, but it's a real thing that happens!
THEY TOUCHED OUR BOATS?!
@@AtomickPhoenix yeppers
Quick fact: The only things cookie cutter sharks tend to eat whole is mainly squid :D
Also a weird fact: They swallow the teeth they lose, it's thought to be on purpose.
They eat everything, including their own teeth XD
No point wasting the nutrition in teeth. Reuse, recycle â»ïž
It's thought they swallow their teeth due to the lack of calcium in their diet. Considering how strong those teeth need to be in order to bite through steel netting, it would be difficult to ensure enough calcium otherwise while eating predominantly chunks of just flesh.
â@@TheDramacist reuse, recycle, repeat
You gotta imagine, bones are really hard to come by in the deep, they gotta conserve the calcium
They made the cookie cutters look cute... I have no words.
Itâs crazy how a cookie cutter shark almost made a war different
The cookiecutter shark living in the deep tropical oceans and comes up to the surface during the night to hunt for food. They attacked bigger animals or fish like whales, tunas, almost everything including human, scoup out a big lump of flesh a size of cookie.
They also attacked multiple US submarines during Cold War causing damages on rubber part on the submarines.
The Soviets where also attacked by these sharks and the US and USSR both thought that they had developed a secret weapon until one of the subs surfaced with a shark still attached to it
That sounds like it would hurt like hell
Sharks barely attack humans but the fact they can try attack one for a bite is op
â@@mega-ri7fjwell, as the saying goes "The chances are low, but never zero"
â@@mega-ri7fjlook up cookie cutter shark bite there's lots human flesh being taken out
Fun fact: the cookie-cutter shark eating a piece of the submarine in the video is a reference of a happening during the cold war. There were numerous reports of damage to the American submarines, something or someone was breaking the cables of the external equipments, so they had to come back to get repaired. They started thinking that it was a secret weapon invented by the Soviets, but the thing they didn't know was that even they had the same problem. In the end, it was discovered to be none other than the cookie-cutter shark.
Edit: oh man I didn't expect this many likes, I dedicate this to my one and only captian, BARBASCURA X! (Fatevi sentire, ciurma del disagio)
This fact cracks me up every time đ
So.. they took on the U.S navy and Soviets... and *WON* ??
How did they figure it out? đź
@@leegee1839 I think one of them was still on the boat when it came up

I love that he just starts questioning parts of his anatomy like heâs just had an existential crisis and the unexpected Chinese accents đđđ
Lol
I believe the voice actors are Japanese
i love the fact that almost all the fish have a chinese accent đâ€
I think that's because the Channels creators are from that region of Asia, Cant 100 Say for certain but thats just my assumption
â@@Melatonin808 they are from taiwan i think
@@Squiddo69. i acutually think they are from Japan because they have used japanese myth "Kuchisake lady" from one of their videos and "kaiten sushi"in this video which is a type of sushi restaraunt in japan.
â@@Kip1313their bio says Taiwan. Taiwan was colonized and subjugated forcefully for some time by Japan, ergo, it has influenced.

"Fish checked, whale checked"
"Submarine, checked" đ
How strong does your bite has to be in order to take a chunk of a submarine?
From what I have red they normaly take bites out of the rubber bits
Ships, subs, and buoys often had rubber coating certain parts of them at one point. Submarines in particular had them covering vital equipment. So, the soft fleshy rubber was a prime target for the Cookiecutter. Which meant the Navy had to keep bringing their vessels in to repair the rubber. The Navy uses fiberglass these days instead to cover those parts.
Google them and you understand

The comparison to conveyor belt sushi was not something I was expecting but itâs hilarious
When Cookiecutter sharks replaced their teeth, they swallowed them digest them and grew back.
Their accents do wonderful things to my brain.
The voice is so fitting for this shark
