    Intriguing that Rogue One didn't resonate for you guys. Personally, I think it's the best SW film Disney has released & maybe my actual favorite (followed by the last 4 episodes of Clone Wars). I love that the series has the same look & feel of the film. Andor may turn out to be the series we didn't know we needed.

      Rogue on is an odd beats for me. I absolutely loved it when it came out, but the more I watch it the less I like it. I'm not sure why, but part of it might be that I've watched it half a dozen times and I still don't know the names of Donnie's character or his friend. They matter that little. Strangely enough, Solo is the opposite, the more I watch it the more I enjoy it. It's just a fun heist movie that doesn't try to shoehorn itself into the original trilogy at all. It stands alone.

      To me Rogue One is like an old black and white era WWII movie where it's more about the mission, less about the characters.

    • @CoryGasaway
      @CoryGasaway Před 2 lety +1

      I don't think it's that most people don't love Rogue One. Most people do love it when they first see it. It's a wonderful story. It just doesn't resonate as much because there's really not a reason to watch it again after viewing it a couple times. Especially since everyone dies. Kind of hard to stay connected in this universe to characters who only appear once and aren't really attached to any of the core characters of the narrative.

    Believe it or not, Rogue One is a LOT of peoples favorite Star Wars movie. The movie did a great job of making you get attached to the characters, at least, on the REWATCHES. on the first watch everyone is focused on CGI Tarkin, and the Vader Hallway scene. But on rewatches you can peel that back and focus on the ACTUAL STORY and the characters that that story is about. And yeah... I absolutely loved Rogue One, and am beyond hyped for that.
    Also I read the Catalyst: A Rogue One Story (The prequel book to Rogue One) before Rogue One came out. So I was already invested in some of these characters, unlike the majority of people.

    • @sethbledsoe4286
      @sethbledsoe4286 Před 2 lety +7

      Yep, same here. Catalyst was a great book too. There is so much emotion in Rogue One. I shed tears everytime I rewatch it. And, along with the original trilogy, it's one of the best rewatches. I probably avg 2-3 times a year easy. The soundtrack is amazing too. Michael Giacchino is my favorite composer right now. I could go on and on.

      I'm not a Star Wars guy, despite having seen all the movies. And I enjoyed most of them, but Rogue One is the only SW movie I've ever liked on a more profound level other than "cool". It felt like the only SW material made for adults. And this trailer has the same feel. I might actually watch this. :)

    Rogue one is my absolute favorite Star Wars film and jyn is one of my favorite characters. I got fully attached to those characters in such a short time so I do wonder if a rewatch might sway your opinion or possibly after the series finishes rewatch to feel a bit more for them. I understand your point, I just LOVE this film mostly because it’s so unconnected from the main nine films so it stands alone as this gritty war epic and shows how Star Wars can have these really personal small stories and be good af. Andor looks like it’s going to be a similar spy thriller as well as a character study in some aspects so I’m excited as hell and hope you guys react to it as well as the new Willow show because that looks AMAZING

    Those Imperial LAAT'S look amazing along with the Army Troopers who we rarely see in Star Wars besides the opening of Solo. Also loved that we saw Clone's no doubt a flashback to post Order 66 when the Clones were recalled and given White Armour removing their colours and before they were replaced by normal humans in those proto Stormtrooper armour we saw in Bad Batch. The production just looks the most movie quality so far from these shots even compared to the Mandalorian. Oh side note but Mando Season 3 did have a trailer shown but it hasn't been released yet to the public.

    As for my thoughts on this teaser, I am psyched for this. It looks like they will finally touch on Cassian’s Separatist roots and some of the things he did for the Rebellion during the early days. Adding Mon Mothma and some of the political will really keep me hooked.

    Andor exists because it’s a vehicle into an aspect of the world that Star Wars has traditionally not really spent that much exploration, the more morally complex side of the galaxy, the little skirmishes that become the big battles that would change the galaxy whether it’s among the people or among the politics in the senate. So much of Star Wars is steeped in mystics and The Force and Jedi and Sith, Andor and Rogue One gave us a glimpse of another side of the galaxy that deserves more exploration.

I hope you guys can get into it because we're getting 24 episodes of Andor. Season 1 will have 12 episodes starting with two episodes on August 31st then there will be a second season with another 12 episodes to wrap up the series. They must have something big up their sleeve for them to give Andor the most episodes of any live action series by a wide margin. It's supposed to deal with the 5 years leading up to Rogue One and seems like the time will be split between Cassian and Mon Mothma. She's working the politics while he's working the people and blowing up stormtroopers.

    Its intrigued me. If is solely a spy show it would be great. Mon mothma being tailed. The female actress from Killing Eve is great. Defo spy vibes. Great to see Street level/ day today imp rule. Would be great for crossovers/ cameos, like Sendula & Jaruss. Hopefully the reprogramming of K2S0 and getting Tudek back to voice. I'd also love to see a little of Maul since were in the underworld and making dark connections with bounty hunters.

    I never understood doing prequels (either movies or TV shows) where the main character is someone that we already know is dead.
    It's kind of why Black Widow to me was a decent movie, but it just didn't connect b/c I knew that she was dead.
    But with Black Widow, she was a beloved character....I don't remember one character from Rogue One (another decent movie) that warranted a prequel series.

    "Rogue One was fine. I just didn't get attached to any of the characters." Ooooh, so you're dead inside! It's okay that you're dead inside, it's just good to know up front that you're dead inside. 😜 I also remember a lot of people saying that "why does this character get their own show?" about Peacemaker (and a number of MCU shows besides), soooooo...I don't know that that question holds much validity for me anymore. If you've got a story to tell with a particular character, then all that matters to me is whether or not the story's good. The fact that I love Rogue One and am excited for more Cassian stories (and maybe K2SO at some point!) is entirely incidental. 😎

    I'm not sure how long before Rogue One this is supposed to take place but I'm hoping this show might give us the live-action debut of Thrawn. It would be a nice intro to his character for the people who didn't watch Rebels or read the novels before he inevitably appears on the Ahsoka series.

    Calling that either Bad Batch shows up in Andor or Andor shows up in Bad Batch. Just would be the area to link it together

    Watch the SW celebration explanation from the actor on why they made this. They wanted to go back on his journey to Rogue One.

    So surprised Rouge One did not get you guys. Andor as a series is exciting because it shows a part of the gritty determined group that started the rebellion that we watched Luke finish.

    I totally get your feelings on Rogue 1; I've never understood why people are so crazy about that movie!
    I saw it when it came out in cinemas before seeing any reviews, and I really didn't like it very much at all. The hallway scene and the space battle were cool, but the constant location hopping early on was disorientating and as you said, it ultimately it spent too little time with too many characters to make the ending resonate. ...plus Saw Gerrera was such a horribly shoehorned 'hey folks, read about this amazing cool guy and his cool guy adventures in other media!' clunker of a character that he single-handedly ruined the entire second act for me.
